Re: The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever
Yeah .. was reading about this yesterday
Haiti is so close and we wouldnt have to worry about the ME logistics and geo politics Id love for us to get involved but with our country divided/looming recession it would just be gas on fire and of course .. haiti has zero resources or value to us
A major concern is the potential collapse of the DR. Eventually this will flood over the border more. 50 years ago making this a US territory would make sense if the government (s) would agree to it. Now... Anybody wonder if China or Russia would step in make a favorable political ally in our backyard? I wouldn't be surprised if China did this. |
Re: The Most Fresh & Cordial Political Thread Ever
Haiti's societal corruption is well documented but they suffer from problems beyond their control as well. The french had about three times the number of slaves as the Spanish but only a third of the island. There were significantly larger population with less land and resources to start, but the bigger issue is the island has a rain shadow.
The atmosphere has to rise over the mountains in the center of the island to get to Haiti. Doing so the air, cools condenses and drops all the precipitation on the DR side, leaving less precipitation for Haiti. Less precipitation less agricultural productivity. Less tree regrowth which is the dominant fuel resource in the country. No food and no fuel to cook it with or boil your drinking water. Your work friend is right the population exceeds the carrying capacity. Even then the corruption that would exist would make it fail.
I think sometimes when we here about the drought issues in the west…especially arid based landscapes, what did you think would happen? Doesn’t seem logical to have millions living in an environment that has adopted to having low water availability to survive. |

Yup water diversion and ground water withdrawal increases are through the roof. There are some interesting technology propositions going out including water pipelines from the Great Lakes (bad idea) or water pipelines from Mississippi river ( a much better idea) but that won't stop future population growth in those areas. |

You really are stupid. I mean really! https://news.yahoo.com/theres-key-difference-between-classified-004201530.html Business Insider There's a key difference between the classified documents found at a former Biden office and the ones Trump kept at Mar-a-Lago, national security expert says CBS News reported Monday classified documents were found at an office used by President Joe Biden. The documents were found by Biden's attorneys and provided to the National Archives. A legal expert said Biden's team appeared to have done "exactly what you're supposed to do." |

Biden aides find second batch of classified documents at new location -NBC News A second batch of classified documents? You don’t say? The key takeaway, VP cannot de-classify, unlike President Trump. But looks like Biden absolutely did not handle and secure classified documents. |
Could easily put this in the WTF thread. So sad what is happening in Haiti, yet we have a policy under "white foot , brown foot" where we keep Cubans that flee their country and land in Florida but return Haitians to this

So you can store classified documents as long as G1 approves of the stored documents and can find an article that supports his own idea. Apparently 'classified' is open to interpretation. There's an OK 'classified' document to store wherever you want and a not OK one. All of Trump's are the not OK ones, all of Biden's are the OK ones. Amazing! Outside of G1 being so full of shit, it's funny we're pretending like politicians on both sides haven't been doing this shit forever. Can't wait to spend the next 5 years hearing about documents found in broom closets. |
