Re: Gameday Thread Jets- Skins
The only time during the preseason that you can really take anything of value away from in regards to our starting QB is the third preseason game (our 4th because of the HOF game). That's when the 1's get to play at least a half of football, not one series here or there.
I'm happy that Brennan has looked good as opposed to bad this preseason, but all of the jock riding, man love is getting a little ridiculous. |
Re: Gameday Thread Jets- Skins
Brennan is insurance if JC does not pan out in the next 2 seasons. 2 more seasons and JC should be up to snuff, if not he can probably be chalked up as a failed experiment. I doubt that will happen, but who knows. By week 7 we will know if he h as truly improved over last season.

FYI: Comcast Sportsnet is replaying the game right now.

Re: Gameday Thread Jets- Skins
Lets not get ahead of ourselves. None of our Qbs looked that great. Colt Brennan looked the best tonight. But at times he held on to the ball too long also. He had some impressive passes I will say that. But I credit taht TD catch to Goode more than to Brennan because it almsot got picked put Goode snatched up and ran. But I wills ay this. Colt is not going to be our starting QB but hemight end being our second string QB befoe the season up.
As for those trying to start on the JC bashing band wagon again. Everyone has bad games. If you look at Eli & Romo..they have had bad games too and more than good ones. JC on had one out of 3. I will take that and its beter for him to learn now from his mistakes than during the season. He needs to make quicker reads and get the ball out and our WRs need more seperation. Saying that he needs to zip the ball in there and not get to excited with his throws..I did see two high balls. But this will be worked on and even Zorn said JC is a good learnier. He will learn from his mitakes. Other than that he has looked good so far in the preseason. He is not going to be perfect..Bu the is catching on and I will take this team to the playoffs if he stays healthy. The same people were praising Collins are mute now and last week peopel were bashing Colt. So let's just keep this tone. JC is our starting QB and Colt will end up being our 2nd QB. Collins was a product of saunders system. JC will come along more once he gets more comfortable with this offense which he should be by the end of preseason and if Devine gets cut so everyone can get more reps. Lets jsut support all of our QBs. Colt is not goign to be number 1..So give him props on his good games and be glad that we MAY have a good 2nd QB in Colt and realize he is playing against third string secondaries. But he still has talent and the same can be said for Mason. I think we are in a good position and at the end of the day. We are 3 and O in preseason..It may not count but is better than being 0-3. HTTR!! |
Having Colt be our QB is a joke, I agree. But you have to admit that JC was awful last night. Same crap, different game...
Awful?? Please..... you're going a little too far. |
Nope, I saw them, and I also saw the last two seasons... He's inconsistent, as usual.
Considering the guy has to learn a new offense every year, and on top of that has average to below average NFL wr's, I think he's been pretty solid so far. I think Zorn will take his game to the next level. But you have to realize that it might not happen this year. |
Re: Gameday Thread Jets- Skins
I think this game was a nice little reality check. We played flat for the most part and not finishing those drives is a concern. I'm hoping to see a bit more inspired play against the Panthers.

The whole team is inconsistent, as usual over the last two seasons. |

....actually if you look at the second half the 2007 season through this preseason, the Redskins are one of the hottest teams in football. |
Re: Gameday Thread Jets- Skins
I really hate to beat this horse to death, but let's look at Jason Campbell's class.
1 Smith, Alex 2 Rodgers, Aaron 3 Campbell, Jason 4 Frye, Charlie 5 Walter, Andrew 6 Orton, Kyle 7 Greene, David 8 McPherson, Adrian 9 Orlovsky, Dan 10 Fitzpatrick, Ryan 11 Anderson, Derek |

That's kind of my point. A few of those guys aren't even playing football any longer. |
Bottom line, anyone who has watched the Skins over the past season, this preseason included, and their saying we need to trade Campbell needs their head checked.
I don't think anyone has said we should trade Campbell. I just think a lot of us see this year as his do or die year. It's time to prove his worth. |

I don't think that was the intention when they drafted him, though I guess w/any backup you can call them "insurance" as they might win the starting job. I think the hope was that Colt would be a reliable young backup in a couple years, which the team has needed for a long time. We've had some decent backups but none that are young & developing like he is. The fact that he was taken in the 6th round shows that they're not investing a lot in the position & don't want to create camp competition for JC. |

It still doesn't change the fact that the Skins have been inconsistent. JC hasn't been the only player over the last two seasons that hasn't been consistent. I felt last year the Skins (not GB) should have been competing with the Boyz for the top spot in the NFC. The reason the Skins lost seven games wasn't solely due to JC, but the Skins being inconsistent. The Skins should have won 5 out of the 7 games they lost last year. The GB, Philly, and NY games, JC was on his JOB and they still lost. The Philly game JC had three TDs(zero int) without a starting receiver.(Yes he threw an int in GB game, but Favre threw 2 and had 0 TDs.) I will even say for most the the Dallas game JC was on his JOB. I don't understand why some of you are ready to throw JC under the bus. If we going to the JC under the bus, then we need to start throwing some of his teammates with him. |
