sky blue sky was "boring" in a "safe" way but it's better than i remembered. i just went back and it's good. wilco(thealbum) never clicked for me but BULL BLACK NOVA was cool.

chico, the new one is great, definitely more like Ghost/Yankee/Summerteeth.

and chico, a bore live? they are GREAT live. musta seen an off night.
yeah got all 3 of those...very solid. I saw them at a festival, so probably not a good indicator. Their setlist though was very adventagous, but execution just wasnt there. Festival performances seem to be just a money grab for some bands and they go through the motions.

yea, or the time/space limitations and mixed crowds just throw them off.

either way, give that new one a listen (or several). you'll dig it.

Rediscovered a classic recently.

When I was younger, I was a huge Sonic Youth fan, and recently got the urge to hear the classic album Daydream Nation. Picked it up for like the 3rd time and man this album is still sounds timeless. Still had a couple songs on the Ipod, but it not like having the total album experience if anyone knows what im saying. The album is probably one the most influential albums for the pre-nineties grunge stuff, cept more intelligent and sound experimention heavy with the way they tune their guitars and the production.

Its a classic...take a listen on youtube or pick it up.

On a sort of similar note - I've just recently got into the Pixies, and now I can really see how they've influenced a lot of bands I really like.

Pixies have always been one of my favorites. back in the day they accumalated alotta hate in that late eighties "college rock" scene by their peers, cause they were just so damn good. Frank Black solo stuff is very good as well.

6 must have albums by those 2, all 6 considered classics IMO:

Pixies: Surfer Rosa, Doolittle(pick this one up first), and my favorite, Trompe Le Monde

Sonic Youth: Daydream Nation, Goo, and Dirty

Amazing how much "talent" it takes today to be a musician. That was pretty bad. I thought you were gonna post some real gangster rap in here, like old underground style Three 6 Mafia lol. I feel like they plucked a random chick off the street and asked her if she would like to make some money for that video.

as great as those are, and as blasphemous as it might be to some SY fans.... i actually prefer their latter day trilogy from the 2000's:
Murray Street (02), Sonic Nurse (04) and Rather Ripped (06). obviously not the influencial/classics, but all three are really really great albums if you missed them.

wow seeing all those albums are 10 years old...makes me feel old.

White Stripes obviously the best album of that year

I prefer the Strokes second album to their first, but still solid top 5 album

The Shins Oh Inverted World my number 2...great album

Rockin the Suburbs aside from that "single" was a classic from Ben Folds. In the same tradition of the Five.

Bork album was underated from that year. Probably my favorite from her.

Wrong thread? But lemme ask you a quick question. If a group of people gathers together and starts doing gang like activities, what should they be called?
