Exactly...he is just invested in his arguement. But I do question why he is such a strong CP supporter even though he is a Saints fan.
We should all go to the Saints forum and ask why isn't Reggie Bush getting more carries. |
Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
This would be so funny if that is actually Clinton Portis. Wanna know something seriously funny? THe "official clinton portis" facebook page tried to add me as a friend...
I don't think that CantonLegend is a racist as somebody accused, but his statements were controversial, like blacks are genetically faster, etc...thats too funny |
Im not hating...I don't think he is good, thats my observation from watching every game of his Redskins career. Just my opinion, but I think its shared by others with way more knowledge of the game.
Im not going to argue that he has put up good numbers in his career, I just think he is done being productive. I don't get the whole "he is hurt" arguement....he has been hurt for the last 3 years....if he can't or won't prepare his body for an NFL season thats even more of an indication he should hang it up. Bottom line he just comes across as an entitled cry baby with a sub par work ethic....bad for the team.
Hurt all the time! is Felix jones. He has burst, he has explosiveness but he stays hurt. Portis is not in that category. Glad Dallas got that glass man Felix. Anyway Portis is not what he used to be because he is more. He is a work horse and he is a good blocker. He will do what it takes for the team to win. We can get a new shiny toy RB in the drasft to go along with the work horse. Until a new explosive back proves he is a work horse, keep that old work horse chugging then plug in the new toy for excitement. I give Portis so much credit for becoming a Joe Gibbs runningback. You can take your WCO offense back to Seattle Zorn. |
Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
I dont really think Portis is a Joe Gibbs running back. The Joe Gibbs runningback was a big bruiser, ala John Riggins.
I will give credit to CP for being a great blocker, but i think it's unfair to him to compare him to a Joe Gibbs runningback. Portis is a pudgy 220 pounds. he has looked really out of shape the last couple of weeks. Riggins i guess was a drinker and a smoker, a little out of shape but he still made the big runs.... |

I mean, why? Okay, I get a Dallas fan or a Giants fan coming over stirring up shit or going to bat for one of our guys. I would still find it odd, but I get it. But a Saints fan? It's so random and out of the blue. Besides, how many Saints fans catch Redskins game to know one way or the other? And what's up with the name CantonLegend? Is there one Saint in the Hall of Fame? Legend, when you're done practicing today can you tell us what inspired your screen name? LOL |
Dude, come on....seriously? Sellers busted his ass getting down the field and actually made 2 blocks before that....In MY OPINION a top 5 running back cuts behind Sellers block and scores easily. And dude seriously, I don't "hate" anyone...geese.

You don't like him dressing up and getting attention and being happy and having a good relationship with the owner. That's not football related. I am loyal to Portis the man has been our work horse. I don't think being a free spirit warrants criticism of a 70 plus yeard run from scrimmage. WOW!! |

Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
Okay the feeling i'm getting from this thread is that people are pointing out the problems that Portis is now having, and how nobody wants to realize it. It isn't so much a "hating" on Portis. I think this all wouldnt be so bad if his attitude wasnt so bad. He's going downhill fast, but you can't feel bad for him because he is being an a-hole to people all the time.
These things we know as fact: 1)Portis has reached the point in his career where is breaking down (2,000 carries) 2)Portis doesnt have the breakaway moves or speed like he did. 3)He often trips, falls down, etc. behind the line of scrimmage. 4)Refusing to practice, there is NO WAY he develops any kind of rythym with the team. 5)His performance at this point does not justify keeping him and his insane salary. Like i've said before. We can still get productivity out of him if we get somebody to share carries. I think that should be Betts, but i doubt Portis lets them do that. |

Jimmy the Greek famously got fired for saying such racially insensitive things. |
Re: Portis is a BIG problem!!!
Still haven't answer the question....I question whether or not you have even seen him play this year.
But yes, I have watched every game/carry/yard of CP's career in DC I am far from a pessimist....I see the good that Betts could do for the team if the organization stops cow towing to CP because he has a bloated contract. he is 28 by the way, with a ton of injuries piling up, thats far from "in his prime" by NFL running back standards.
We tried Betts before, I give him credit, he has had a couple good games. But we have saw this movie before. It ends with Tampa Bay winning the game because Betts fumbled on his only carry. A carry with no other purpose than to run out the clock. No one's cow towing to Portis by letting him start. He has earned his starting position. You not making sense. You seem to think Betts has not been the starter because of preferential treatment for Portis? Betts fumbled his behind to the bench, and you know it. |

But missing holes can't be. |

I said it was good run...ill give him credit for that. DUDE, where do you come with this stuff? I don't like him dressing up and BEING HAPPY? WTF does that even mean? Are you high? seriously? I will say that I don't thinks its good for the team/organization for any player to be best buds with the owner...its just a slippery slope. If Portis' personal friendship with Snyder is influencing how much playing time he gets, thats just a disaster. Portis just seems to get away with WAY more than most players.....so it makes me wonder. |

I think all the guys on offense earned their jobs, but one thing i feel from this team, is that once somebody gets a spot, it is theres for the duration. For example, Campbell has always been the unchallenged QB, no matter what. No matter how bad he plays. Even Joe Gibbs knew to stick with Collins because he was the hot hand, even though Campbell had recovered from his injury for the playoffs. Now Portis won't lose his job to injury, but really, Betts has outplayed him at this point. He deserves to finish the year. A 3-6 team that is going nowhere should at least get to play everyone so that they can see what they have roster wise. We won't do that. It really is a sad state when injuries are the only way you get to see depth at a position. For Example; Campbell would have cost us the season in 2007 had it not be for his injury and then Todd Collins coming in. in 2006 Portis got injured and Betts rattled off five 100+ yard games. This year is the same way. I just hope after this year that everyone has to battle for a job...not just become an anointed starter. |

Are you saying Portis doesn't get preferential treatment? What other player on the team could never practice and still start every game he is healthy? What other player could refuse to play in the preseason and still start? Marko Mitchell couldnt, Marcus Mason couldnt... He has a huge contract so of course he gets preferential treatment...most stars (or alleged stars) do to some extent. Earned his starting position? I would argue the exact opposite. Betts has earned the starting position by being there week in week out practicing with the starting unit. A couple of redskin coaches seem to agree as well. |
