This stadium is very impressive. I live in TX and have been there for a Friday night game. TX high school football is for real and is treated like a major event all across the state.

Oh, and yes, Allen has some VERY wealthy residents and this was a piss in the wind to build.

And to think I thought the High Schools I attended were big shots when they installed field turf and video screens. My only problem with the field turf is since a lot of High Schools have Football share with Spring sports like Lacrosse and Soccer that the lines for all sports are on the field year round. I imagine running across a field marked for Football isn't exactly a picnic for Soccer and LAX players either.

Though from what I can tell the basic outlines for LAX and Soccer are much lighter during football season.

Part of the reason I was pissed at the Redskins after the Seahawks playoff game was that virtually every High School in the area that I attended had installed field turf while one of the richest sport franchises in the world was dragging their feet with poorly maintained natural grass.

I've thought this for a while now that the Franchise system needs to be tweaked a bit into more broad categories

[B]Skilled Players[/B] - Running Back, Wide Receiver, Tight End, Fullback

[B]Defensive Front 7[/B] - DE, DT, ILB, MLB, OLB

[B]Defensive Backs[/B] - CB, S

[B]Specialists[/B] - K, P, LS

That wouldn't be fair to the positions in each category that are more valuable than the rest of their group; WR's and CB's, for example. The reason being, teams would just franchise their top WR/CB/3-4 OLB/other examples and make them play every year under the franchise tag at a less-than-market-value salary and with no way to escape, except for a holdout.

I still think the best option is to begin designating new positions.

Or get rid of franchise tags all together. The player's union for the NFL is def. the weakest one out of all three major american sports.

I tend to find Keim the most informed of the Skins beat guy. Woody in Richmond usually does some fine work.

I tend to find the drivel comes from Reid, Jenkins, and this f*ckface antonym Wise.

On the contrary, Keim usually writes excellent articles. I don't always agree with him, but his articles are generally well-thought out and reasonable.

Yes, I suppose this would be an option as well, but my opinion is that if a team invests money, time, and/or a draft pick in a player, they should have some way of retaining the player even if he wants out. *Edit: At the same time, I hate the exclusive and non-exclusive tags, where the player has very little chance of getting out.* Having no sort of tag at all would mean lesser teams would stay lesser longer, unless they would happen to be a demon in the draft. Maybe do away with the exclusive and non-exclusive tags, but keep the transition tag.

Plenty needs to change, though, because the current system doesn't cut it.

I agree, Keim is the best beat writer we've got. I appreciate his detail and comments on technique. His post-game stuff is the best around for analyzing what went down.

Ok. Ok. I used some hyperbole. Perhaps the sheer volume of content makes for a lot of repetitious analysis and I think his opinions are more or less vanilla, which is the name of the game to a certain extent when you're a beat reporter. I also practically fall asleep when reading about a third of his posts, but that's the consequence of following the NFL during the dead season. No one can hold a candle to the unreadable pablum that Jason Reid produces. He is the least edifying columnist in sports history.

I guess I just long for the days of old journalism when a column for a major newspaper was well written and insightful nine times out of ten. I would much rather read one article every couple weeks by someone like Boswell or the Kornheiser or Wilbon of old than ten daily items of bland schlock that is typically found on Bubba's.
