Well during our staff meeting there was quite a bit of discussion about our current budget situation. There is a lot of stuff going on right now I wasn't aware of and our county commissioners are basically idiots. Anyway, the timing was bad, so I'm going to hit her up when things die down after the new budget is finalized.

I live right off Connecticut Ave as well, on the 3900 block of McKinley St NW, just south of Chevy Chase circle. You go to any bars anywhere around here? I was 19 last time I lived here. Since then I've only come back to visit my friends/family once or twice a year, so my DC skills are really rusty.

I usually stay out of DC. I prefer to go to the Pool Halls in Rockville. Either Winstons BIlliards or, Orange somethining I cant remember the name. If I do go into DC I am usually going to a strip club, but it is not that often.

To tell you the truth after being away for 9 years I lost touch with all of my friends. The guy I usually hang out with is stuck up his GF's ass most of the time, but I have known him since our days in Germany. I am looking to meet some new friends.

True. I work in Rockville and went to high school in Rockville. Sounds like you're in the same boat I am socially. My two best friends are in Columbia and Gaithersburg, but they're serious home-bodies. They don't like to go out at all. My girlfriend of over 4 years will be moving up here (she's still in our apartment in Gainesville, Fl right now) by July 25th. She starts her masters at George Mason in January. But I've been back for two weeks now, and I have pretty much zero social life so far.

I remember the feeling all to well. As a matter of fact I still encounter it from time to time. The weekends that I don't spend here I go down to Leonardtown MD and golf, jest ski, hunt and fish with my dad. He is pretty much my best friend. It seems like when I left the Army I left behind my buddies and social life alltogether.

You're right by the theatre there? Avalon? Orange is a decent place to go play pool. Closer to both of you guys is Union Jacks in Bethesda, pool hall. You've also got the Rock Bottom brewery, Willie and Reed's Sports Bar, and Caddie's. All in Bethesda. Plus there's Gary Clark's restaurant/lounge-South Beach. If you go down toward DC you're just a 10 minute drive from Cleveland Park. Nanny O' Brien's and 4 P's are a couple of good Irish Pubs there.

HA! Where did you live around here SS? I used to go to the 4 P's in high school! I'm living in the house I grew up in right now, so I know my away around here pretty well. I'm only in this location just for about a month while I finish my job training. My girlfriend and I move into our new place in Gaithersburg on July 27th. Anyway, Rock Bottom is good- I've been there a few times randomly on my visits since I moved away. Never heard of Union Jacks, Reed's, or Caddie's. Have to look into that. Thanks for the head's up though. And I live, no lie, a 2 minute walk from the Avalon.

I grew up in Potomac (after living in Silver Spring for a few years), went to college in Tenleytown, then moved to Bethesda for a few years before moving to CT. Union Jack's is right around the corner from Rock Bottom. It used to be The Shark Club. Caddie's is fun when the weather is nice because it's an outdoor place.

Are you going to be living near Old Towne Gaithersburg? If you do, you definitely gotta get a sandwich at Roy's

Yeah, I've been to bars in Bethesda since moving away. I've been to Tommy Joe's with my brother and his friends, but it's a little to college for me. Rock Bottom is good. I used to love going to Montgomery's Grill, but it's gone now. I know where Union Jack's is b/c I've been to Shark Club a few times. You grew up in Potomac... OH, you went to Churchill, right? I remember now. The other day I was trying to remember who from the Warpath went there. Not sure If I'm gonna be near Old Towne G'burg.

Have you been to this area lately? The strip of Wisconsin just north of Western Ave looks like friggin Rodeo Drive now. Armani, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Saks 5the Ave, Bulgari, Tiffany & Co., Fendi, Gucci, some other shit I can't pronounce, ra ra ra ra ra. My girlfriend is psyched. I roll my eyes.

Oh yeah. I've seen it's massive turnaround. My g/f is anxious to go to Tiffany as well. I told her to find other dreams to reach for.

I watching some PBS special one time that said something like Friendship Heights has the second highest rent per square foot in the nation. Manhattan being #1.

Doesn't surprise me one bit. It's a prime location. Right next to the metro, near 495, right on the DC/MD line, easy access to all points in or around DC really. They actually just finished building a SICK condo building right across from the east side of the Chevy Chase Pavillion. I can't imagine what those go for. My g/f's eyes gleam when she thinks of that strip. My wallet tucks it's tail and runs.
