I really want to see The Informant
Me too. I have a feeling Damon will kill it in a role like that.
I also can't wait to see The Road, which I think finally comes out next month. I read the book almost 2 years ago and for whatever reason I pictured Viggo Mortensen as the main character so I'm really looking forward to actually seeing him play the part. |

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
I went to the same church as the Herzogs growing up and one of his daughters was in my CCD class in 2nd grade, so I met him during my First Communion. Nice guy, quite tall. Still can't get over the way the Skins treated him.
Anyways, I saw The Goods last Friday night. Typical raunchy Ferrell/McKay movie that I found hilarious. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone easily offended by random beatings, hilarious lap dances or purple dildos... |

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Perhaps you guys can help. I recently heard how Jupiter is a gasiousl planet. Have heard it's made of mercury and is a gas due to space mercury is a liquid on earth due to is gravity or oxygen or something like that.
It baffles me that Jupiter is a gasious planet and supposedly not solid. Then I'm watching "Ancient Astroids" on the History channel and they were talking about Shoemaker hitting Jupiter. how can anything hit Jupiter if it's a gasious planet? Maybe I'm an idiot, but I'm baffled. If it has a solid core and gas surrounding it I guess I could understand but I keep hearing how it's made of mercury and is a gas due to space. Which to me would mean solids would travel through it without colliding with anything. |
Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Just watched "The Mist" with Thomas Jane. I never read the Stephen King novella, but man, that movie was weak. Maybe there were some hidden metaphors and/or symbols I was missing, but sheesh what a stinker. The ending was just awful as well.
|
Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Really GM ? The Mist was the shit. Of course it was a mind fuck because of the length but it was pretty much about how we can turn on eachother during a time of duress. I mean to be locked in a building with monsters that burst in from time to time ? A religious fanatic starting a cult right there inside based on their fears of immenent death. And the ending ? OMG, that alone was worth the price of admission. I really liked that movie.

He could've sent that question to Ask The Weather Guy. Bet Tony Perkins could have that answer for you during your morning Fox 5 Weather Report by tomorrow morning !

Everyone, please see Zombieland. My friend, and native Washingtonian, Ruben directed the film. I can't vouch for it, since I haven't seen it yet, but the reviews are good.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
I'm kinda excited to see the new movie "Precious" comes out Nov 6.
I heard most of the main characters in this movie weren't allowed to wear makeup. (Obvious with Mo'Nique and Mariah Carey). Might be a little too real for some people. But I guess that's whats appealing about it for me. [YT]b5FYahzVU44[/YT] |

^ I bet it will be available to all soon sometimes Hollywood does this with a low budget film to get it going, AKA Blair Witch.

Yeah I just wasted half of my day at work watching The Children of The Corn SyFy remake and I don't know if I've seen worse.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
I saw Zombieland and The Informant last night. Zombieland was pretty good, it was basically a "how many ways can you kill a zombie" type dealie but I enjoyed it. It was definitely a very funny movie, I thought Woody Harrelsons' kill 'em all character and that kid's nerdy "trying to stay alive by my rules" character set each other up perfectly.
Also I loved the celebrity character that made a cameo towards the end of the movie. I won't spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet but I thought it was great seeing that person make an appearance because I haven't seen that person in any really good movie in quite a while. The Informant sucked. I didn't know what to expect, but I thought it was a waste of time. I've never been more bored during what's supposed to be a comedy. I don't know what the directors were trying to shoot for there. The premise was good and I know it was based off that whole scandal back in the 90's but for me it felt like a 2 hour business meeting with a couple mildly humorous jokes thrown in. |

Paranormal Activity lives up to the hype. Be careful if you watch it... stays with you for a while.

Just caught a Halloween classic-to-be... rent "Trick 'r Treat" if you can. Really creative film for the Halloween holiday.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread
Has anyone caught Surrogates yet? Is it worth watching in the Theatre or should I just catch it On Demand or something.
