re: What Shows Are You Watching?
I watched the American Horror Story premier last night and I'd be lying if I said it didn't mess with my sleep. I didn't find it scary per se, but it was definitely creepy as hell and they used a ton of quick cuts and freaky images that got stuck in my head.
Between this and The Walking Dead it looks like I can cut back on the amount of horror movies I watch this October. |
re: What Shows Are You Watching?
Anyone watch the new shotime series Homeland? It premiered this past weekend and has Claire Daines as the lead, she plays a CIA agent trying to expose a pow of 8 years as a terrorist. It looks like it could be a pretty solid show the preview for the rest of the season looked pretty interesting. It is being replayed damn near everyday I think the new episodes come on Sunday night around 10.

I watched about 5 minutes of it, but honestly I'm not too big on it. It has its' moments, but it's just too weird for my tastes. Speaking of other shows on Comedy Central, I love watching Workaholics and Tosh.0. Both are now must watches on my dvr every week. Same thing with 30 Rock, for some reason I have an aversion to watching primetime shows on the big 4 basic channels, but when 30 Rock came to Comedy Central I was all over it. Now I love watching it, I've been watching it since the first episode came on Comedy Central a couple weeks ago. |

I would only watch it from time to time on NBC, but I think I've seen every episode a couple of times now that it's on Scrubs. That said, I am glad CC picked up 30 Rock because I love that show but didn't really get into it until season 3.
As for other new shows, I like Prime Suspect but unfortunately I don't think it will last much longer. Hopefully they find a place for it (10pm on Thursdays seems like a tough spot) because I think it could be good, and I'm not normally into police procedural at all. |
re: What Shows Are You Watching?
Kutchers character actually puts a nice new take on the show. In fact it almost gives it the feel of a quality spin off (a la Frasier). They did kind of boxed themselves in a corner by developing Jake into an incompetent slacker.
Anybody watch the late-season premiere of South Park tonight? I guess it answered the questions left behind from "You're Getting Old." If there's one thing nice about it it's good that it's not settling into the same old routine like the Simpsons.
I'd be upset but I think the simpsons has had a good run and I wouldn't be upset if they ended it. I used to love it as much as anyone back in the day but I haven't watched a new episode in years, |
re: What Shows Are You Watching?
Anyone watch "The League"? I actually think it's the funniest show on Fx nowadays (it surpasses IASIF for me).
And +1 for American Horror Story. Thank goodness we've got a legit horror show on TV again. |

I just caught the pilot... really strong. Looks like Showtime is ready to step up to the big boys. Glad to see Danes on TV again. Her character in Homeland is even more interesting because of the disorder. |

re: What Shows Are You Watching?
New for me, I just started watching Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead this weekend. I'm absolutely hooked on both shows.

Wait until you get to season 3! I have not fully digested season 4 it have been better but slightly at best. Pay close attention to every character, everyone has a role on that show. |
re: What Shows Are You Watching?
I'm just getting started on season 3 of Breaking Bad on Netflix. Really impressive show. I think Jessie is arguably the star of the show. That character is so well played. And actually I think Hank is underrated and underappreciated. I had a feeling early in the series he would be "humbled" somehow from his there is good and there is evil, there is no in between.
I think I still like Mad Men a bit better but BB has been outstanding |
re: What Shows Are You Watching?
I gave Terra Nova a second try...two tries too many.

I think I still like Mad Men a bit better but BB has been outstanding
Let's see what you say after watching season 3. I put it up there with the 1st and/or 4th seasons of The Wire in terms of being truly great television. |
re: What Shows Are You Watching?
Breaking Bad has exceeded The Wire after season 4. It's unbelievably entertaining and well written.
To SS's point about the underrated characters, I think that's one of the hallmarks of great a TV show when the main character(s) aren't driving all the intrigue. |
re: What Shows Are You Watching?
One reason I give Mad Men the slight edge is I can relate to the world of Mad Men (office sex, hard liquor during a midday meeting...no seriously, the actual advertisting/media work) more so than cooking meth

Funny, I can relate to both in some ways. Can't go into details though:) But Mad Men is a very, very close second to Breaking Bad. |
re: What Shows Are You Watching?
Breaking Bad beats The Wire? Hm, that's bold statement. I might have to check it out.

Lost meets Jurassic Park? Brilliant! I never gave that show a chance, and now I'm not disappointed. Also am I the only one here who hasn't watched a single episode of Breaking Bad yet? |

re: What Shows Are You Watching?
Mad Men and Breaking Bad seem to be on the same level for me. Both are great TV.
I have tired so many times to get into the Wire and just have not been able too. I am thinking my next show to start is Sons of Anarchy. |

The Wire is my all-time favorite show. I watched Breaking Bad but quit halfway thru season 2. Didn't hate it just couldn't really get into it. I'm thinking of starting it up again though... |
re: What Shows Are You Watching?
I think it's different strokes, different folks kind of thing. I couldn't get into SOA at all. Seemed too contrived and predictable.
Breaking Bad, The Wire, Mad Men. I like them almost equally. |

I tried watching SOA when it first came on and found it really boring and uninteresting; which is ironic because I love Mad Men but I've heard others complain that it can be boring. |

I led the "Aaron Paul for Emmy" campaign during S3 (let us know what you think after watching the season), which he won. And Hank is amazing. Saul plays his role, perfectly too... |

The first season, by far, was the worst- a bit uneven. Then the show turns around in season 2... trust me. |

Yeah I'm thinking about giving up on it, it's just not holding my attention and almost feels like a crappy mix of Stargate and Jurassic Park. |

D to the itto...or something like that. Just started last night watching BB. |

Anyone been watching Strike Back on Cinemax? It's kinda like an R-rated Bourne meets Bond action packed show.

Likewise. Watched almost all of season 1 in the last few days lol. Thanks guys now im completely addicted! |

I just finished season 1 tonight. This show is so badass. |
re: What Shows Are You Watching?
This fall has got to be the worst fall tv season ever! Thank god Walking Dead is on ts way.
|
I don't agree. Idk why I ever took The League off my Dvr, but my fall lineup is now set again in between that, It's Always Sunny, SOA, Tosh.0, Workaholics, South Park, and just getting into old season episodes of 30 Rock on CC. I even watched a new episode of Nick Swardsons Pretend Time that came on last night that wasn't half bad. I'm good to go lol.
