Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
sometimes you guys kill me, Why would anyone say No to a player like PM? Even if we sign him we can draft a QB, It's crazy to think some would rather not sign Manning (a future HOF) who is still pretty damn good and Healthy, yes I think he's healthy enough to play

Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
I get the impression from some posts that people think all the Skins have to do is make an offer and he's here but unfortunately its a 2 way street and PM is gonna do what he feels is best for PM. I dont think PM is going to view the Redskins as the best choice for the final chapter of his career.
I do think he would help this team get better fast but I'm not sure he can get them to the playoffs.
And you may very well be correct, but as I said before I am just going by what I have heard in the rumor mill. All my posts are based on the rumor that connects PM to the Redskins. I am not saying (and I hope no one does) that Manning to DC is guaranteed. Since there is a rumor that this is a possible destination for him, then I think it would be a good idea. |
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
Dude you are dreaming. PM or no PM this team ain't seeing the SB next year and maybe not the playoffs.
And the lost by only 7 points argument is so old, it means squat really. That is a stat disillusion folks hold onto like their pacifier when they are upset and can not understand why this team blows.
Your 100% correct because our team sucks. Please go find one that does not suck and be happy. In the mean time I'll stay here and be optimistic and think this team might, just might get its shit together and make it. Have a wonderful Valentines Day. :) |
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
You didn't really have to spell that out in your mind? Did you?
It was a joke. Do you really think I had to sit there and think about whether or not the Clippers are eligible for the SB? |
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
No sarcasm, I was calling it like I see it. All it takes is watching the playoffs to see how far away the Skins are. Its like playoff teams are playing one game and the Skins something altogether different. You name about 6 things that need fixed just get get the team competitive, That's not a team on the verge. I just dont see him wanting to go with a team that is so far away. PM knows he has maybe 3 years left at best and needs to go to a team that is only a QB away from winning it all. He wants to win next year not in a few years after multiple holes get filled.
Would I like to see him in DC, yes I would. Do I think he will sign here, no I dont.
All of what I said aside. Our major problem was on offense is QB and WR. With top talent we could make the play offs. It would be nice to continue building the OL. On defense I feel we need a FS to give our CB better support. Otherwise I like our defense. I don't think they played as bad as people want to think they did. 3rd year is usually the charm in most teams that change their coaching staff. If not charm they make major strides. I'm excited for next year but we definitely need a QB and to not mortgage the future of this team for any one player. |

Just a week ago it was reported via (Mike Lombardi) Manning still can't fully grip the ball or throw against his body. Receivers said his passes lacked velocity and zip, and you think this guy is ready to play football? No way, at least not this season. |

I consider Jake Q as up to date on all things Manning as anyone out there.

Because those of us fans who use common sense understand PM or no PM the team can still draft whoever they want as QB because PM does not effect draft picks. But it doesn't matter... we suck. (<sarcasm) |

15 yds, 25 yds...whatever, that's a long ways from 40 yds and 50 yds on a rope.

Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
Bingo, why would he come here?
I just don't see it as a good fit for either party that is just my opinion. I am NOT trying to get everyone pissed off I am just saying how I feel.
when you get down to it, his only other options are: Minnesota (no cap room, no proven coach, no idea whats going to happen to the franchise over the next couple years) Miami (brand new coach who has no credentials worth mentioning - hes not going there) arizona (they honestly cant afford him) san francisco (they claim to be committed to smith plus they are on the west coast which is not mannings preference) houston (hardly any cap room, would build ill-will to fans by going to a division rival, and theyve gone on record saying theyre not interested) manning is a better fit than most people realize. as others have pointed out, washington would attract manning for alot of reasons - we're a big market team on the east coast, which is where manning reportedly wants to play. manning is a competitor so the opportunity to play his brother twice a year will be a big plus for him (not the negative many say). weve got a solid coaching staff and a coach who has proven succcess. shanahan gave elway tons of freedom. the only reason he's developed a reputation for putting so much emphasis on his system is because he hasnt had a QB worth anything in recent years. The only real competition i see is from the jets or from a team that would shock almost everyone... new orleans. his dad played there. its in a dome. theyre a contender already. and they have been noteably uninterested in resigning brees. I wouldnt bet on Manning ending up there, but we shouldnt dismiss it. Its a natural fit and would seem to be the perfect place for manning to close out his career. |

 We can't build a team with FA's, haven't we learned this in the past. Sign 2 FA's MAX that are coming in here to start from another team. 2 is the max, anything more than that and we'll look like the eagles of last year. |

How many did the eagles sign? 9, and where we're they? No where near the playoffs. Both those teams draft well. |
Whats your alternative? Roll with Kyle Orton? Mortgage the future by trading up for RGIII and not have other young players to build around. Signing manning allows us time to develop our entire roster so by the time our young qb of the future is ready, weve got good talent around him.
I have to agree with this. Our options are very thin. I would like to bring in Saturday if Peyton signs. Monty would benefit greatly from him and we would have a solid back up at guard/center. |

Breaking: Irsay says he is willing to keep Manning
|
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
Basically Irsay is saying Manning can stay if he takes a huge pay cut.

Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
Breaking: Irsay says he is willing to keep Manning
Just heard. IF he Really does keep Peyton, which I don't see happening, then I feel like that helps our chances of getting Andrew Luck, because I don't see Luck just chilling there in Indy playing with/sitting behind an uncertain QB. |
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
Irsay's been kind of saying that off and on for a while. He's going to do whatever so that if Peyton isn't a Colt it's not seen as Irsay ran him out of town
|
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
I was saying the Colts wouldn't let PM go but now I think it may just happen
|
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
I doubt PM and Luck will coexist on the same roster. PM is NOT going to BU and I am not sure about Luck. Irsay is an idiot and his......Dumbassness with his Twitter hand is rewarding him in the press.
As SS points out he is just trying to mend a few fences for the time when the man that built the Colts...leaves. |
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
I was saying the Colts wouldn't let PM go but now I think it may just happen
To me, if the plan was for Peyton to stay in Indy, we would have heard different things from both Peyton and Irsay in the last few weeks than we have heard. SS is correct - what we've heard is political jousting so that both sides can save face in a divorce. |
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
There was a time, I believe, when Irsay genuinely wanted Manning. But once Manning realized it was basically for Irsay to parade Manning around as a show pony for one final farewell tour, I think the relationship from both sides has soured. I mean maybe there's some hope for reconciliation but Manning believes he can still play and he wants to. Right now that's more likely to happen out of Indy
|
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
Never thought I'd see the day that a team willing to keep Peyton Manning on it's roster was considered breaking news.

Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
The funny thing though is watching these tapes of RGIII I had to try and find out if they were sped up at all. RGIII looks like he's something out of a video game.
[YT]2V3ihtxta9c[/YT][YT]myAMiNYTstk[/YT] Not that I wouldn't be happy with a healthy Peyton Manning but this guy is something special. Also
David @ZephyrHTTR Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Prevailing wisdom says #RGIII could cost the #Redskins ~ 6th pick, 56th, 2013 1st round and 3rd round. Plus contract $, is he worth it?
|
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
Dirt I make that trade because we keep our 2nd rounder this year and we still have 2 fourth rounders if we wanna move back into the third.

If Luck wasnt in this years draft he would be the #1 overall pick. He's accurate as hell, his deep ball is beautiful, he is very fast but does not by any means depend on his legs which makes him even more dangerous, the best part about him is his mind, hes very bright and not just a fast athlete at the QB position. A guy with this skillset is very rare, and people want to compare him to vick but I think he is different and will be much better. I am praying we make it happen and draft him even if we pick up a vet and let him sit a year or 2 to let the offense sink in. RG3 is something special |
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
If we draft RGII he won't sit.

The thing I hate about Griffin is his name. Well not the name itself but the fact that there's at least 3 or 4 common ways to identify him (RGIII, RG3, Robert Griffin, Robert Griffin III, That guy from Baylor). Makes searching for rumors on the guy all the more difficult. |
Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice
Well when we draft him just call him RG/DC or RGDC. Like R2D2.
