The refs allowed the Rams WRs to run wide open all day?

Well hypothetically they could if they called ticky tack illegal contact penalties but that wasn't the case today.
The refs allowed the Rams WRs to run wide open all day?
Combination of bad refs, bad defensive schemes and no halftime adjustments and bad secondary.

The defensive line wasn't all that great either. No pressure, didn't do a great job of stopping the run.

This game was fueled by the RGIII trade and a firey coach. Advantage, STL.

It's funny how a lot of fans are quickly overreacting on emotions to Josh Morgan's mistake because basically his mistake was quickly overreacting on emotions.

Re: Redskins vs. Rams Gameday Thread

Defense was just below average all day. Corners and safety's were barely noticed.

Refs are terrible. Between this and the Eagles/Ravens game today......EGH!
Blown calls all over the place.

Griff and Morris are still bright spots. I like that when things weren't working out totally, Griff took matters into his own hands a few times...
Seems like the OL had trouble as well.

There's still a lot of needs, and after coming down from the NO win last week...it's back down to Earth.

More work, son

Matter of fact....I'm gonna go do some pushups.......right now.

Re: Redskins vs. Rams Gameday Thread

Funny thing though about Griffin is he didn't have his best day today and we still put up 28 points, 21 on offense. Usually on a day like today assuming we got all the same chances the score would have been 13 to 31. I base this on no deep pass to Hank and certainly no red zone conversions with the old guard.
It's funny how a lot of fans are quickly overreacting on emotions to Josh Morgan's mistake because basically his mistake was quickly overreacting on emotions.
Ha ha, to true. I think to many fans bought in to much to the good feelings and media attention from last week. Personally I spent all last week thinking to myself that it they gave us way to much respect. We did good but it was way to much for the first game of the season.

Griffin is definitely ahead of schedule but we have to remember he's still a rookie and he still has a bit of a ways to go before he takes that next step as a passer. Sad thing though is he's already a better passer then any QB we've had since Brad Johnson.

Honestly, I was fine with holding out RG3. You don't want him to sit there and hold the entire weight of the game on his shoulders, knowing if he missed the loss would be all on him...

He took responsibility for the loss anyway during the post-game interview. Said he didn't play well enough.

Were you like me and thought if we were going to lose this game it was going to be something like 17-14?

Our defense is supposed to be the strength and they were missing 2-3 starters! I mean WTF.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. At first though -- I was like -- what the hell, RGIII needs to be out there and be what everyone is hyping him to be... to be God.

Re: Redskins vs. Rams Gameday Thread

I want to say this though. Best bad play ever came in the 2nd half when Silverback held onto Quinn for dear life to stop him from getting a clear shot on RG3. Just kind of a weird moment that makes you realize the rest of the team has bought into RG3.

Agreed. We're scoring TDs now and not settling for field goals. Every win is hard to come by. The Browns put up a good fight, the Pats went down to the Cards, the Giants were on the ropes and, of course, the uber talented Cowboys only scored 7 in a loss to the Seahawks.

1-1 after 2 road games to the Saints and Rams is nothing to be ashamed of. We're averaging 35 a game and are plus 5 in turnovers. Now let's take care of business against the Bungles.

The funny thing too was that I was pissed off as much as everyone else, but Josh Morgan makes this team better and on top of that -- he seems amped up as much as everyone else (including fans). I can't hate him when I see that in a player.

Shanahan is just trying to get a leg up on negotiating Cundiff's next contract.
"Well Billy, Bruce and I have reviewed your contract demands and while we want to resign you we believe your asking price is a bit high. For starters, the St. Louis game where you missed that game tying field goal in the 4th quarter......"

Man was I deflated, but i've calmed down now. It was a very odd came from beginning to end: Rams spotted skins 7 right off the bat; blown calls; broken plays; Redskins Defense collapses; Stephen Jackson benched; Out of control chippiness; Another blocked punt; a late TO by London Fletcher to give Skins a chance; bone head play.

I mean my lord. I feel like this was the most unusual game i've been a part of.

Jenkins is starting to look like a reach. He's not stout enough but, that can't be the reason he was drafted. Baker if/when healthy may go ahead of him.

They really aren't. They should have beaten the Lions last week, and did a incredible job holding them to the amount of points they did.

skinsfaninok 09-16-2012 08:47 PM

Not having our number 1 WR killed us also.

there is a cowboys blog i read and laugh to myself, especially after disappointing losses, like today to the Seachodes :) and i want to use a phrase everyone uses on their blog when explaining a loss to a team they felt they should have won. They like to use the phrase "playing down to the level of your opponent"....thats my favorite. But in all honesty, Rams played well enough to beat the Lions last week, probably should have won. I knew they be bringing it at home, Bradford is the truth son. Guy was straight ballin

Re: Redskins vs. Rams Gameday Thread

It did, but I really like the other guys stepping up. Outside of his ridiculous last play (not only that, he had the first down if he just walks backward) Josh Morgan is a decent possession guy for us.

Thats a little early, he's coming off a major knee surgery and missed all his rookie year. Let's let him play at least 3 games in his professional career before labeling a reach, or bust.

Forgot bout Baker, that is a positive and he has the body to rotate to a 3-4 DE position.

Yeah the Rams played chippy and dirty, especially second half. You think the Steelers, Ravens, Eagles and Giants are going to play classy against us? Please. If we're going to be a good team, we're going to have to learn to deal with it, without bone-head mistakes like Morgan's.

Re: Redskins vs. Rams Gameday Thread

Next draft better have some DBs taken with our first three picks. Kudos to Bradford and co for what they did, but we are not going to win 2 games in our division with a defense like that. Our offense is tight, but damn our D is going to be our Achilles heel this season with our secondary being so porous. Yeah dumb play by Morgan at the end, but this game should not have come down to one penalty meaning a W or L. Mulligan was wide open for that last score, nobody within 10 years of him. Our first pick next year needs to be the best CB or S available.

Rak out, Carriker out really hurt us.

Kinda pissed Haslett didnt adjust game plan after Bradford torched us the first half and with our guys going down. I really dont like that Bob Slowick guy either. Why were those guys standing so close and whispering into each others ears all game?

Honestly, that's really understating it in my opinion. I felt like a flag could/should have been called for every couple plays. I wouldn't be as annoyed at the loss had they not acted like total jackasses. I mean even the Ravens who seem notorious for this kind of garbage, acted like Mr. Rogers compared to the Rams today.

I just think it's something a good team has to handle themselves sometimes. Whether it's getting more fired up and dominating, or a little policing of our own like Portis drilling a DL on pass pro after they cheapshot our OL. Or any other number of ways without making an obvious personal foul.
