We're finally a build-through-the-draft team and we just draft for need? BPA every time with ties going to the big bodies.
I'm telling you we should draft a lot of front seven and OL. Football is won in the trenches.
That has always been my philosophy as well, but with the way MS finds those diamond in the rough late round RB's, I am happy letting him roll the dice for another another. |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
I can't wait to see what we do in this year's draft. To find a stud RB last year on a 1-11 junk heap of a team, you know our FO, scouts, and coaches are clicking on the same page. Who will be our next hidden gems?
Totally unrelated note, I do wish we could draft Tavon Austin. I would've loved to see what he would do in our offense. I hope the Cowgirls don't get him. |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
Travon's value is exploding upward right now, he is a top 10 pick and might not make out the top 5. They say he is another Percy Harvin.

Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
Tavon's fun to watch. As good as he is in the open field, I couldn't imagine what he'd be like with Kyle creating space for him.

Nice small school prospect 7th round or undrafted. |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
Reyes seems like a great prospect, I wouldn't even mind using a late pick to draft him.

On the upside, Geno Smith was judged to have a very strong arm, "good overall accuracy" plus "escapability" and outstanding straight-line speed, but the list of negatives came up long. "[Was] often out of sync with receivers. Average field vision and coverage recognition -- forces throws and does not work through progressions. ... Not a student of the game. Nonchalant field presence -- does not command respect from teammates and cannot inspire. Mild practice demeanor -- no urgency. Not committed or focused -- marginal work ethic. Interviewed poorly at the Combine and did not show an understanding of concepts on the white board. Opted not to compete at the Senior Bowl and has approached offseason training as if he has already arrived." Pro Football Weekly |

Nice small school prospect 7th round or undrafted.
Just by the highlights one can see that he likes to hit and tackles well. I like that he seems to have a nose for the ball, taking proper angles without getting blocked. He may not be an INT machine but, times his hits well (without being dirty) and doesn't seem afraid to make a play on the ball in the air. |

Not a bad draft, the draft cant come fast enough. |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
So I went to look over our past 27 draft picks under shanahan/Allen. Of our 27 draft picks 26 of them have been seniors; the 1 junior, RG3.
Skins have drafted only 2 players from the best CFB conference, the SEC. 8 of those 27 draft picks are non BCS schools(including I-AA). 5 are Big 12 schools. 8 Big 10 schools. |

Nice small school prospect 7th round or undrafted.
Looks just like the type of player Shannahan likes, two time team Captain, voted Defensive MVP, team leader and hard worker. Great sizes 6' 4" and brings the lumber. If he is there in the 7th or undrafted we better take him. Looks more like a SS type. |

You don't seem to be very high on Cyprien. Think he'll be gone by the 51st pick? |

Pugh or Poyer

Doing a member mock draft here this year? Don'think it worked too well before but, it's something to do. |

Being that the cowboys are very high on him, and they pick twice before we pick, and he's projected to go late first early 2nd yeah I don't see him falling to us. Elam on the other hand might because a lot of scouts think he's too small to cover today's TEs. I'd be very very happy with Elam. That guy can play. He's like Ed Reed minus his magnetic hands |

Pugh , He might be a great RT or even G . I think there are a number of corners in Poyers class . |

Pugh is a very good player but he has T. Rex arms, only about 30", if I recall correctly. That bothers me about him at OT. Maybe they want him at OG. |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
If we draft OL with our first two picks I will be pissed.
|
Watching Pugh's highlights, it seemed to me he was playing very high with little knee bend. No talent scout but was not particularly impressed.
If we draft OL with our first two picks I will be pissed.
I would be okay with a tackle in either the 2nd or 3rd. |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
As long as we get a few guys to make contributions , I will be happy with our draft .

yeah it'd be at OG. For the record I'm not saying I want him. I don't. I also don't think we're going to pick at 51. Just answering the question is all |

I would really prefer defensive backs with the first two picks. |

Based on our track record I see us trading back. I think this will be one of our BEST drafts as well as next years. even without a 1st rd pick. IMO we've got alot of good scouting eyes looking for talent. |
You think we will trade up or trade back?
Back. And potentially out into 2014 And our first two picks won't be DBs. |
Re: 2013 NFL Draft Prospects
So if we have a decent FS option there at 51 we won't draft them? Interesting stuff, what are our plans at FS then?
|
