Confirmed
So past the confirmation, I want to know who the new ST coach is!!! |

Headline sums it up. An interesting nugget nonetheless.
Snyder cracks me up. It's not the GM's job to let him know Zorn isn't qualified. The guy had only been a QB coach. Never even called plays or coordinated an NFL offense. You don't need a GM to tell you that. Snyder's just shifting the blame. It starts with you. Fassell was the more qualified guy, Gregg Williams was the more qualified guy. You hired neither cause you and Vinny wanted a puppet. Hopefully those days are gone forever. |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Cerrato is not as dumb as people believe when it comes to straight scouting of players, but he's an extremely insecure, petty person. That's ultimately his true downfall
Smoot...I'm not so sure about that. He really had a lot of poor draft and free agent picks here. On top of that, he was going to give the Bengals 2 1st rounders for Chad Johnson. Johnson in his prime was a very good wr. But not for that price. Mike Brown saved him from his own stupidity. |

If your GM hires the wrong guy, I'd say that's ultimately on the GM. Should Snyder have over ruled him on hiring Zorn? I thought we want Snyder out of making decisions like that? |

I agree its on the GM, its not his job to over rule the GM on a coaching hire. However, he rehired Vinny, which for me leads to more questions. Whats really different here, except for personnel decisions. Is the game day experience better? The field? Customer Service? Are they run top to bottom like a first class organization? A friend of mine used to valet cars, he remembers Snyder... |

I probably didn't explain it quite right...but honestly kind of tired of talking about him |

Keeping Vinny around for all those years is definitely on Snyder, no doubt. Allen seems to be the perfect buffer between Snyder the team, and I think Allen has done a great job in many of the off the field aspects of improving relations with alumni and overall community outreach. Hope he stays around a long time. |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Last thing I'll say about Cerrato, and I've said it before, Snyder re-hired Cerrato largely because other owners forced it upon him
|
Im confused. I thought he was going to Pittsburg to be a Special Teams Coach
Well you asked about giving him more money and an asst hc tag also like he very well might get in pitt. I guess he isnt going to get that here. |

Best wishes to Danny Smith, going back to his birthplace in Pittsburgh? Here's to Shanny / Allen finding a good ST coach to replace him! |

Yes he should have over ruled him cause it's common sense. If you have Gregg Williams or Jim Fassel sitting there wanting to coach your team, and then you have a quirky career QB coach sitting there, who are you going to hire? Sorry but the QB coach isn't even in the running. They both wanted a puppet and they got one. He should have fired the GM for even suggesting Zorn. |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
I just can't wait to kick the shit out of Chip Kellys little college/pro team. I think he is gonna find out its hard to run that tempo on offense when you only have 52 players instead of over 75 in the college ranks.

Maybe we can bring Spurrier back and play the Eagles on Saturdays? |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Hire Brian Mitchell as the next ST coach, I would say he knows some special teams play.

You know what, that sounds like a very good comparison. Spurrier lit up the NCAA and it simply did not work in the NFL, after preseason of course. I hope Kelly has the same experience in the Pros. |

Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
One thing about Kelly I have notice that he talks about the NFL very differently than Spurrier.
When Spurrier came up, he essentially said "My system will easily transfer to the pros" and really didn't make an adaptations to it or his style of coaching on arrival. He really thought he could just play "pitch and catch" like he did at FSU. Kelly has already said that he can't transfer his style of play, practice and preparation to the NFL without changing it (Can't find the link now but essentially, he said "If I run practices the way I did at Oregon, I will have a great track team but a lousy football team."). As FRPLG said, Spurrier just did not have the personality to succeed as an NFL head coach. Not saying Kelly does, but, IMHO, it would be a mistake to compare him to Spurrier. |

Well, his schemes struggled big time in protection. |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Well, his schemes struggled big time in protection.
Because he refused to adapt. The NFL is all about adapting. |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel

I kinda hope you're kidding. He would alienate every coach, player and staffer in the building. Just because someone can play a position doesn't make them a good coach at it. |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
The answer isn't always Art Monk for WR coach, Brian Mitchell for ST coach, Darrell Green for DB coach, Joe Jacoby for OL coach...and so on
|

Looks like he's going to put in some type of system similar to what he did at Oregon. I assume they didn't hire him to run a normal NFL offense. |

Well I don't think the Ravens will be thrilled to find out Dixon's gone to the Eagles since he's playing the part of Kaepernick for them in practice this week But yeah the expectation is the Eagles will sign Dixon eventually but I probably wouldn't read too much into that |

I think Chip's offense may produce good results his first year. After that initial year, I think coordinators will come up with a game plan to make it ineffective. They generally do. |

Rookie college coach gets to NFL and starts signing his college guys, starting at QB. Where have we heard this story before? The only HC to have some form of success with him was Gibbs and that was because he dare not interfere with the fan favorite. But once he was gone it was back to normal making all the decisions and pushing his opinions on the HC. or else. |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
I wish they had the WR position coach locked down and we were looking at the ST coaching position. What are they waiting on?
|
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Mike McDaniel is the skins new WR coach
