It's very classy of Dan to meet with Shanahan. A simple text or email to pack up is deserved. I don't think there's any reasonable criticism of Snyder, he's handled this situation as well as anyone could and shown any potential HC this is a quality ownership.
99% of the locker room wants him back according to Trent Williams. Fletcher, who's not going to be here anyways, has publically pleaded for him to stay. I'd love if we signed him to an extension. In five years, you'll all be bashing Snyder for allowing a diva qb and his dad to run an excellent coach out of town. I'd love for mike shanahan to stay (not Kyle) but there is zero chance of that happening. |

No offense, but none of us have any reason to believe John Mara wouldn't try to screw over his divisional opponents again if given the opportunity. I'm sure it was entirely coincidental that us and Dallas were the only two teams punished when this chart shows at least 9 other players that got huge salary bonuses in the uncapped year. |

To a degree Shanny pushed himself out with all these leaks to the press during the last month or so. If there wasn't any of that then I could see him staying, only time will tell on RG3 and his ego. |

You seem to know a lot for someone who knows nothing. You carry rumors around about RG3, but when facts about Shanahan arise, you are in denial. |

The longer it takes the more worried I become. I believe it was Zorn who was the other coach that I felt took forever to get removed. |

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)
Ch 4 says sources tell them Shanny is gone today.
|
Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)
I will say this for Shannahan, if he does get fired today. The team as a whole is in a much better position talent wise than we were 5 years ago. I do think he has made alot of mistakes with coaching positions and schemes, but talent wise you have to give them credit there..... I did not like us losing some of our guys to other teams, but we are better off than we were 5 years ago.

If true then why fire the man the players want to play for ,if the cap truly is the problem then the man deserves another year . |

Because this is a marketing organization that owns a football team and it's hard to market a 3-13 team that kept its coach. On to a new marketing strategy for 2014. |

That's just players being politically correct. They are saying what is expected of them to say. If the players want the coach so bad why don't they play for him better and execute his so called good schemes. Look at the results, this is the NFl you perform like Shanny performed and your're gone. You should know that Sally. |

I know that Nancy and so does MS, he said as much. I think Shanny should go but that doesn't change the fact that the Skins are marketing first football second. |

Mike ran himself out of town with a 24-40 record. Players will almost always back the HC publicly. I don't put any stock in what they're saying right now. They're just worried about covering their own asses. |

I know we all wish that game never happened, but he went 0-1 in the playoffs, 24-40 was regular season. You giver Shannhan more consideration than RG3. RG3 gets no excuses and Shannahan gets many excuses. Thou art using a double standard. |

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)
I really hope the Skins do not hire Briles (just looks like he belongs in college) or try to get a coach to get out of TV land like Cowher or Gruden.
Create a future, that works out better than trying to recreate the past. Same concept applies to signing big free agents. |
Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach (Volume 2)
Jim Schwartz may not be the best HC but he is a great DC. I would not mind if we brought him in as DC and switched to his favored 4-3.

I will be supremely pissed if we switch to a different defensive scheme again. That'll put us behind another two-three years trying to get the right personnel that we put together to switch to a 3-4 scheme. no No and NO!! |

I don't think the switch will be that difficult.

I understand some of your feeling. But I think switching to a 4-3 would be more painless than it was switching to a 3-4 previously because of our personnel. Rak and Kerrigan could play as hands-down DE's today. Cofield and Bowen could play DT. Although we'd have to work on our linebacking corps, we'd have a decent DL set. |
