Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
This game was very similar to the one last week against NY. Defense got the offense turnovers and the offense can't do shit except piss all over themselves. Just not one god damn ounce of creativity on offense. I've seen enough from Gruden to know I'm just not impressed with him running an NFL offense, and sure as hell not impressed with him as a play caller. His offense reminds me of Rod Dowhower in 1993.

The Dallas offense was more creative. Let that shit sink in for a minute |
Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
I'm already over it. Like we all said, nobody is any good in the division anyway and 7-9 will most likely win it.

Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
I'm pissed. That was the worst game I've watched this year. If you can't get fired up about playing a division rival, on MNF, late in the year for a chance to make the playoffs, you will never be ready. The defense was a bright spot but the rest of the team might as well just go ahead and start their vacations. Kirk continues to play quality football but that offense was as vanilla as vanilla gets. Sean McVay needs to go. Either it's because the new head coach brings someone in with him or because Gruden fires his friend but the guy isn't ready for the pro game. I can handle watching the Redskins lose, but to come out against the Cowboys looking like you were ready for an afternoon at the mall, killed me. They should've been looking for blood, instead they played like it was a 1 o'clock game against the Jags.. I see good pieces but that was a disgusting performance. Desean screwed us in the end but that should've never even been a close enough game to matter.
Plenty of excuses for not winning -- but when you get right down to it, offense scheme / play-calling / execution never found an answer for their pressure. Sean Lee just owned the interior OLine. Kirk played poorly and, until the very end, never made them pay for bringing pressure.
Should never have come down to DJax punt returns. We had THREE turnovers, two of them in Dallas territory, all we had to show for it was THREE points. Horrible. Defense gave the offense plenty of opportunities but the offense could not capitalize on them. BTW - Hey KC, there were no positives from this. None. You should feel like crap.
This has been the story of our season. Defense getting takeaways and the offense not capitalizing on them. This right here is the reason the team lost the game. |
Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
Djax made a dumb mistake but he made up for it imo. Plus he was trying to spark something and make a play it happens. That's a guy we must keep around. He's had 3 straight games with a td now.
|
Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
The Redskins have created 6 turnovers in the last two games against division rivals and have 3 points to show for it. That is just pathetic.
|
Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
Watching the game, before the snap, I could accurately predict what the Redskins were going to do at least 80% of the time. At one point, my wife said, "Well, if you know what they're going to do, don't you think that the Dallas defense probably does?" Good point, m'lady. Yeah, I do. This offense is way too predictable.

Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
One big giveaway right now is that Washington is so depleted at Tight End that they bring in extra lineman on certain runs and it is just a dead giveaway. It is almost comical really, but what else can they do without having enough serviceable tight ends?
The line struggled to block and the RBs couldn't pick up a blitz so KC was under pressure and forced to hurry all night. I thought he played pretty good considering.
He didn't throw a pick - that was good. Yes, he was under pressure. However, he did nothing consistently to make Dallas back out of it - either by passing over or around it, audible out of plays that were headed in to the teeth of it, or making pre-snap adjustments to the blocking. Maybe he did some of these, but I didn't see it. Lots of reasons we lost - mostly b/c no one did enough to win. KC was very much part of that equation. |
Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
Not sure I'm buying into the criticism of the play calling. We've got an o-line with two starters on the IR while one starter is a rookie playing a position he never played before; and TE depth is a mess. Behind all of that is a QB who's basically a fourth round rookie. Last night they played a very strong defense that had ten days to rest and prepare.
Under these conditions, I would expect a conservative game plan, particularly with a tight score, which it was last night. The running game never got going enough to really open things up, and that Lee dude seemed to break up all the screens and bootlegs. So the number one priority of the Redskin offense was to not turn the ball over, which they didn't do. We saw good situational game calling; it just didn't work out. Sometimes you just lose games. |

There were a number of times the Cowboys linebackers showed their hand with a good ten seconds left on the play clock and Cousins didn't make adjustments. He needs to get better at that, and there's no reason to think he won't. |
Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
Special teams + offense stunk, but really they are more talented then we are. We are screwing up the division by playing above our ability.

Keep the faith. HTTR!
I literally don't want to go to work this morning because of that loss. Don't want to hear everyone's shit. Losing that game sucked hard. We just can't take 2 steps forward. |
Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
Also, Kirk became waaaaay too predictable with his fake hard count. It was almost done in the same rhythm every single time, and you could see Sean Lee starting to time it every snap. This kind of stuff should be recognized and changed through the course of the game.
I didn't hear Greg Hardy's name called too much in the game, Trent Williams did a pretty good job blocking that side. Blocking Hardy mostly one on one is so small feat but Silverback was getting it done. |
Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
I get the hate on the offense. The performance wasn't good at all but let's be honest with ourselves. This is a team that won 7 games the previous two years. A lot of factors went into that but the main issue on this team has been the level of talent. SM has done an admirable job in just one year of finding players who can contribute (especially on defense) but the talent on the offensive side of the ball last night wasn't there.
We have the makings of a good OL in the future but neither Long nor Leribeus are gonna part of that. Both aren't good. Scherff is good but still learning. He seemed to learn fast last night which is good. We literally had one tight end active last night. One. And he is the one who can't block. We had to play converted Tackles if we wanted to go with a two tight-end set. Chop that part of the play book out. KC is not a guy right now who can extend plays and make magic happen. Give him the keys to a good car and he can drive it. Give himt eh keys to a crippled car with dead weight on the interior line, no TEs, and an under performing running game and we're doomed. The scheming sucked according to many...I don't see how we can scheme much better given the constraints last night. I'm no Gruden apologist but being more aggressive last night probably gets us killed. As DJax would say "You can't do epic stuff with basic people" |

Tell me about it, I work with a couple of Cowboys fans who have literally not said a word to me about football in over a month and I guarantee when they get into the office today (I arrive an hour before them) they will be stopping by my cubicle to act like last night's ugliness just won them something. Ugh. And that Jason Garrett smirk/smile walking across the grass. Just painful to see. |
Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
It is a TEAM sport Raves and gentlemen. How anybody can be talking about anything other than D-Jax is beyond me. Lets just look at what happened again shall we? It was a division game against the Cowboys whose backs were to the wall big time. They came to play. It was an ugly penalty filled game but with about 2 and a half minutes left in said game our D came up big and they punted to us. If D-dick just takes the straight path we are roughly 25 measly freaking yards from attempting a game winning fg. But that asshole RUNS BACKWARDS FOR 23 YARDS AND FUMBLES ON THEIR 7 YARD LINE!!!!!! Eff everything else that happened in that game. It was ours to win UNTIL D-DICK PUT ON HIS D-DICK CAPE AND RUINED IT! That is all.
|
Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
3 points off turnovers, a missed FG, and letting them get that kick return. That was the ball game.
The yearly allowing of big returns in crucial times is infuriating. Hopkins literally has to kick a touchback every time because our coverage unit will eff it up and they did again. The next day and I'm still just as pissed. Get a good win last week then completely ruin it this week. Yep, sounds like Redskins football. Nothing worse than losing to Cowboys at home on primetime. With no Romo. Doesn't get worse than that. |
Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
And how "Redskins" of Hopkins, who has been a sure-shot from 50 or less the entire season to not only miss a FG attempt, but then after the Jackson TD to tie the game, can't kick the ball out of the endzone which he normally does without effort.

What about A gap middle linebacker blitz with the stunt coming from the DE...why didn't we make adjustments, why didn't Gruden/McVay go up to Kirk and say "Hey, if you see this, you gotta make the adjustment at the line" It doesn't look like we did. Maranelli really outcoached Jay...I look at the Jets game and the first Giants game where the defense really outcoached the o staff. |

I think you're being short sighted if that's all your focusing on. We came close to losing a game last week because our offense can't take advantage of good play by our defense. This has been a problem going on all season. I think we're at the bottom of the league in points scored off turnovers. If the defense gives you three turnovers, two of them in opponent territory, and all you have to show for is 3 points, you're going to lose the game, period. |
Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
Safe to say we will be drafting a tight end this year, possibly 2. We need a tight end that can block and catch at least some passes. Hopefully Niles also comes back full strength.

We are not a team full of talent. You want "pretty" wins you have to wait until next year. This team was supposed to win 6 games. We could have done it last night. Obviously there are a ton of would of could of should of's that might have changed things last night. But none of them were nearly as asinine or easily avoidable as what djax did. Not even close. |

I'm not asking for a pretty win, but I'd like to see our coaching staff do a better job at responding to schemes done by the opposing defense. The way that the game was going, there was little that told me that the offense could have made something with that drive. DJax made a ridiculously boneheaded play. He also scored a TD to tie the game. But at the end of the day, all that SHIT is a little too late because the offense couldn't do squat for 99 percent of the game. I know we are devoid of talent in certain areas. But I don't think the team looked this helpless when playing against the Pats or Carolina. I have a huge issue with the coaching staff not being able to prepare/motivate players for an important game (see first Giants game) or not being able to react and adjust. We lost to Matt Fucking Cassell because the offense couldn't muster points early in the game and the team put themselves into a situations at the end of the game that left little room for error. Bitch all you want about DJax, but if the same stupid mistakes keep happening and we're going to continue to lose winnable games. |

Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
If you told me nothing else about the game other than the defense caused 3 turnovers, 2 of which happened inside the Dallas 40, I would have been comfortable assuming we won by at least 10 points.
I feel I should temper my criticism of the offense because of how injury-ravaged the O-line is and how the TE position is depleted, however there's still a lot of little things/nuances that seem like they could be modified despite the injury situation yet they aren't and we see the same thing every game in those cases. The defense, after a rough patch earlier in the year has kind of come on like they did for that final stretch in 2012. I am actually quite impressed in how Scot McCloughan has found these guys and how much impact they are making. Dunbar was a frickin' WR not too long ago and the guy has barely been on our roster yet is out there holding his own for most of the game. If you saw that matchup on paper you'd assume Terrence Williams would have a career game. |
Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
Please god tell me how can you consistently get turnovers and not score points off them?
God's response: "Jay Gruden/McVay" |
Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
I find it odd too that Gruden never seems to do what most coaches do, which is take an end zone shot immediately after a turnover. You see that all the time around the league, but we simply don't do it.

Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
An old man walks into a bar and sits down. He and the fellow next to him start chatting about football, and the subject of the Redskins come up, at which point the younger man starts cursing about Gruden and McVay. The old man looks for a second, smiles, and says Damn it's good to meet you Chico!

The way the defense was playing the whole game, none of this should have happened period. And focusing on the missed Hopkins FG or Jackson's fumble or Special Teams giving the Cowpukes good field position on the last drive, diminishes the fact that the offense had plenty of opportunities to put this game out of reach and even away early on. Hell, a first half TD would have probably done the job. |

yup...lotta times you see the "take a shot" play right off the bat because the defense is rushed on the field with little warning. Perfect time to call a play action, trick play, or even a screen. Not us. |

I still don't understand why we kept calling a seven step drop pass on 3rd and short when our o-line was being shredded by the blitz. |
Re: F$ck Dallas! Game thread
Gruden is front and center on this loss. He will not change and its infuriating to watch. He cant make adjustment so all the defense has to do is find something that works and stick with it.

Dallas has the second ranked pass d and in yards allowed. They are no joke. Tony Romo does not play D. But wait than fumbled the ball on our own 7 yard line? Lmao. You say im harping on djax. I feel he is getting a huge pass. |
