Redskins Free Agency 2016

You just know if the skins land Norman, Mara is going to try and sabotage skins only to have his own football team end up 6-10 ;)
My worries have nothing to do with the cap, but with an infatuated value for an above average player. We have survived the 36B cap hit fiasco, and were barely limited by it, and mainly in the second year. BA, and the contracts staff, know how to put together well managed contracts.

But, Josh Norman is not Revis or Sherman, he has flaws (they do too obviously), and we don't know how he will react once he gets a big contract. If we do it, I will be excited, but a nagging voice will say he ain't gonna live up to it.

Hopefully one day that voice will go away.
This is what it comes down to for me as well. Just don't think we're getting a Revis type of player.

15 million a year is crazy for, esp for a team that isn't contending for a title. We are better for sure. I hope if it happens the contract is better then the approx numbers.

How will we ever contend for a title without a #1 corner? The answer is we probably won't. We are highly unlikely to get there without at least a few Pro Bowl quality players and a whole lot of good players on each side of the ball, and one of those Pro Bowl caliber players needs to be a corner, IMHO.

I trust Scott M. more than any Redskins GM since Bobby Beathard. I'm not going to fret about anything he does until he lets me down more than once. If Scot says Norman is a guy we need and that he thinks Norman is worth the money, then I would feel very good about signing him.

The Redskins fans react to the Josh Norman Saga as told by the Redskinettes:

Carolina drops the franchise tag, Skins fans are just a bit curious

Then some aren't to excited:

Some are really excited

Then they hear the Skins are front runners and get their hopes up:

And when he comes to visit he is welcomed with open arms:

So now the only question is:
Will there be the Oh Yeah from a signing:

If that's the only competition we win. They would have to renegotiate a contract for Brees first

A little nervous about the signing due to total cost, but am glad to have a CB of his caliber. I also think it will spell the end of Cullivers time here. I think it opens up the draft to keep building up the trenches, especially with this being such a deep draft for DL.

Re: Redskins Free Agency 2016

Just a wild guess;

$25 million dollar signing bonus ... 5 years prorated @ $5 million per year

2016 $ 6 million salary.... cap hit $11 million
2017 $8 million salary..... cap hit $13 million
2018 $ 11 million salary....cap hit $16 million
2019 $12 million salary.... cap hit $17 million
2020 $13 million salary ....cap hit $18 million

it adds up to 5 years $75 million

Honestly, I cannot believe how much this team has transformed under GMSM. From all aspects; strategy, toughness, attitude, off-field negotiations, the list goes on.

I don't know how much we're paying Scot McCloughon but he's worth every bit of it. The Redskins are no longer a joke in this league l.

HAIL!

We need sustained success before anyone can claim this, I think - the unfortunate side effect of 2 decades of mediocrity and splashy, dumb moves.

well, i think it's safe to say we're on the right path.

the coach is competent, the GM is good, ownership seems to be letting them do their jobs. it's just been a long time since the team felt like it was being well run. things are looking up.

Are we sure the coach is competent? I mean he did royally screw rg3. Just ask 30gut. Lol

Seriously though I liked the more aggressive coaching in the second half of the season, I hope Gruden/McVay keep that up going into this year.

I'm not sold on gruden yet...he lied about coming here to fix rg3...didn't even give it a chance. Not a mark of a good coach IMO.

Rg3 is to blame too, but gruden hardly coached him up. He got the job and did the old bait and switch...

I'm not taking blame from robert, he dug his grave in DC but strictly from a coaching perspective, gruden has a lot to prove still.

Gibbs won with different quarterbacks, he was a coach in the greatest sense of the position.

All gruden has done is say he could coach up rg3 and once he got the NFL head coaching gig he threw his hands up that he couldn't work with robert. We will find out next couple of years how good of a coach he is...

From where I'm sitting as much as I was high on RGIII he was lost outside the pistol. The second acl finished the guy, bringing Joe into the discussion is a nonsense, where we are right now Is building blocks around a guy with limited potential to get to the next step.

Can we do it?

Of course we can with the right protection and an elite defense, are we there yet? No, but we are moving towards being serious contenders.
