Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
What DJ said is that from what he's heard he think there's a greater than 50% chance Kirk is playing for another team. Then he added his own opinion that it might require them giving up their own 17th pick
I did remember reading the part about the 50% chance. I just wasn't sure if the details thrown out regarding the actual deal (if there is a trade deal) was what he heard as well or if it was merely his opinion. I'm still thinking the 'skins tag Cousins and if there is a trade deal, they'll force the other team to give up the two first rounders. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Deshaun Watson is not a replacement for KC. Im sorry hes a different player all together. Ive watched Watson play more than I would have liked. He's not a first round pick and honestly I wouldnt take him to 3-4.

Kirk Cousins 365 thread
This: "My theory on this is simple. Snyder loved RGlll and cant stand the fact that shanahan was right in taking Cousins as a security blanket. Now that Cousins has proven himself to be a well above average QB, little Dan just cannot admit he backed the wrong guy. Ego, plain and simple. Hopefully someone will talk sense into him before its too late. Pay the man"

Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Your quote is basically what I've said from when the cousins situation first happened. Dan Snyder would rather die before admitting he's wrong. It's too late now. We deserve 100% everything that we get from this disaster. Hopefully after Gruden and everyone gets canned this season after going 2-14 it will forever scare off any good coaches or coordinators from wanting to be here so long as Dan owns the team. This is what dan deserves. All of his money couldn't keep him from the hard reality that he is a loser. Always will be.

Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Snake- we as fans don't deserve any of this bullshit. We spend our money and root for our team. We deserve to watch the Trent Green and Brad Johnson saga again? We deserve to watch a guy we like go be successful while we are forced to root for Colt Fuckin McCoy?
I'm sorry but no we don't deserve this shit show |

I think it's that combined with the fact that Snyder saw the Cowboys triumph with 2 rookies, one of which was a fourth rounder, so his brain is thinking if it can happen to Jerry Jones, it can happen to me. |

My bad, misread that. I must've really wanted to post that picture lol. I'm like the only one on this board that thinks he's a 1st round pick. I'm either gonna look like a genius or a putz. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Fire Allen, problem solved!!
#notmypresident I'm seriously gonna flip fucking tables if we let cousins go, settle for colt to start and trade him for anything less than multiple first round picks. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
I don't think I've ever seen this site/board have so many ledge jumpers before lol.

Bruce went to Dan and said I think we can get McNabb and Dan said absolutely. Kyle especially was not interested
I just worry if we saw something here happening again with a Romo, Carson Palmer, type acquisitions. history repeating itself with the same bad decision makers. The track record of Dan and Bruce making QB decisions are not sound...they need to defer to McC...let him control the roster. |

Kirk won't be in DC, he wants out. It's pretty obvious, like I said KD did the same thing, he was all quiet and never committed to staying... Then BOOM he left. I hope Kirk stays but I'm already preparing for the news of a trade |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
At this point, I just want it over with. I don't care which direction the team wants to take, let's just get on with it and see what Jay Gruden does next year. I can't even begin to comprehend the management of this team. I think Scot McCloughan, passed out drunk could manage this team better than a stone cold sober Bruce Allen and Dan Snyder.

Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
This is the life of a Redskins fan as long as DS owns the team, he's the worst owner in the NFL. Losing record and every yr he has DRAMA all over the off season.. Last yr it must have killed him to be so quiet and normal... Now this all comes out. It's just a joke, Cooley knows more than we all think and he's speaking out for a reason.

Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
I hope someone has not already posted this article already, but if not, here it is:
Kirk Cousins, Washington Redskins QB, will make team pay It is the best article i've seen so far on the Cousins situation. The Front Office really did bring this on itself, points out the irony of us not wanting to give Cousins a long term deal because it is too expensive, but yet Cousins is already in line for 45 million guaranteed, with the potential for 30 million more if he is franchised again next season. Yeah - Dan Snyder didn't want to pay cousins "Big Money", but he is okay with potentially shelling out 75 million dollars over three years, which i believe would make Cousins one of the highest paid QB's ever. We've all said it before. Complete ineptitude on this staff from top to bottom, and it starts with the owner. This should be all the proof we need to be able to say firmly that nothing will ever be accomplished here as long as Snyder owns the team. My hope is that I outlive the bastard, so that if I live to be an old man, I will finally see our Skins owned by someone else. Really torn here guys. Really torn about still supporting this team after something like this. How can you? How can we? No matter what they say or claim, it is still the same old dumpster fire here. Kirk Cousins deserves better. WE DESERVE BETTER |

Also I agree with the article that the FO has nobody to blame but themselves, but I disagree that it's fair to lump McC in with Bruce and Dan. McC and Gruden are sold on Kirk but they aren't the ones who work on the salary cap side, that would be Dan/Bruce/Schaeffer. Pretty sure Eric S. could make any deal work given how much space we have, so I'm putting this squarely on Dan/Bruce. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
I'm confused on all of this...I don't care who's fault it is at this point. I think both sides screwed themselves.
The Front Office for being too prudent (imagine that!) and Kirk & his agent for being too greedy & just sounding dumb as shit in his sounds bites. ("taking less money wouldn't be fair to QB's that come after me"- get real!). I am ready to roll the dice and build a better running game & go with McCoy for $20 million less per year. We can use that $20m to help fix the defense & better the run game. Besides, Kirk is something like 19-21 as a starter...let him go get rich somewhere else and help all those QB's that come after him. |

I was not impressed with him the games I saw. To me he's a 3rd rounder. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
"Washington's front office has never properly respected their own players. They're always showing respect to someone else's."
Maybe the most honest and accurate statement anyone can say about the Redskins under Dan Snyder. |

Draft, free agent or say...a backup to the best qb in the league...? Jimmy g trade...that's my hope if not cousins
Whether you like it or not, Bruce and Jay have liked Colt for years. If the Skins didn't trade their 2nd round pick for McNabb in 2010, they likely would have taken Colt that year. Though Kyle and Mike weren't as impressed. There isn't a clear second choice |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Jay has a winning record 2 of 3 years, it is insane to even think he's not safe

You would think that but the qb that is responsible for those years is apparently not safe lol. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
I picture Colt McCoy in a dark room in his house drinking a neat scotch sounding like Mr. Burns, "excellent". As of now he has a good chance of being our starting QB next year.
|
Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
Fire Bruce, extend Gruden and SM, and let's get the ball rolling. I don't think Bruce offers more than the drama that he seems to create. Snyder doesn't need a yes man. I want to see what those 2 can do together for the next few years while Snyder plays the role of good owner.

Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread
I thought of a possibility that I don't think I heard or read about (I'll express it because, to me, Cole's and Jeremiah's """reports""" are nothing more than thinking out loud):
Maybe, just maybe, this board wants KC long term but think he's asking too much, and they want to use the non exclusive tag to test his market value and still have the last word. If you think about it they have nothing to lose: -either no team offers KC the price he's asking and they can say "see you're not worth THAT much, take this deal"; -either a team offers him the price he wants and they can say "ok, you were right about your market value, we'll match their offer". (In the first case he could still want to test the open market next season, in the second possibility they could decide the number is crazy high and take negotiate compensation). Just saying, from a business stand point I can see how they can use the non-exclusive tag as a way to ask other teams to help them know how much KC's worth. |
