Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Again. I’ve read two possibilities. Houston offers a 2020 1st or Jags offer Jalen Ramsey. I’ll take either at this point, and roll with Penn one year. Use our first rounder in 2020 to take best LT available. Maybe Georgia’s Andrew Thomas. It will be a good LT class.
This is a critical year, and they CANNOT afford the distractions or drama. If I had to guess I’d say this is half on Bruce Allen and half on Trent. We can’t do anything about Bruce, but we can trade Trent and move on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The Texans have the cap room to take TW (most cap room in the NFL). A first-round pick in 2020 would certainly be better than getting a second or third-round pick from the Pats. I think the TW problem comes down to money. We had $12 million left in cap money before we hired Penn. Why not use some of it for TW? We could get several very good years with him, and time to draft new OL prospects. |

Yes

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Sadly, I'd say yes to a 1st Rd pick I'd this isn't handled within the next few weeks.

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
You guys are dreaming if you think anyone will give a first for Trent considering injury history and age.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I love Trent, appreciate everything he's done for the Redskins, but this is a no-brainer. Maybe we wait him out, another team loses a tackle and has a spare first rounder? Hell, even for a 2nd rounder I'd do it. The longer this goes the more I believe Trent doesn't want to play for us. He's made plenty of bank in his career and I don't doubt he could sit out the year if he wanted to. |

Wait until a team lose their starting LT, they have a shot at a playoff run, and they’re desperate. Teams give up firsts all that time for players they shouldn’t. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sheehan says the growth on Trent's head goes back 2 years. team doctors looked at it and said it's probably nothing but you should get it looked at.
TW had it looked it this off season and the Dr said it was a tumor that was malignant, it freaked him out since he has small kids. I wish someone on the team would address what is really going on. If this is true, then the Redskins aren't liable for anything. |

I could see someone who was broke and had no medical insurance putting it off. It has been mentioned on numerous sites that Trent's attitude went downhill when Geron Christian was drafted. Could be a case of a soured relationship where everything starts looking bad to an individual. |

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Here is the break down. He was told the growth on his head was a cyst but it should be looked at by an expert. They told him this over two years ago. He is mad because he wasn't pushed to have it checked.
He went to an expert and they scared him with their thoughts. Turns out his expert and the training staff was wrong. |

Due to HIPPA - the team can not say anything. If he speaks publicly, they can reply. |

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
The media story is about the training medical staff. But this is about getting more guaranteed money in the next two years. If Penn plays well enough to replace TW, the team may try to outlast Trent. It all comes down to how well Penn does in these pre-season games to see how this is going to play out.

Per JP Finlay "Trent will hold out games as well"
This doesn't sound to good for us |

well if this is truly the case, we just need to trade trent for a pick/player and move on. |
Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Postering for money. My preference would be to have Bruce and dan to meet with him and move some guarantee money into this year. Just talk to him
I think Bruce is digging in...with no communication and that’s where I have the problem |

Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Bruce Allen is fucking douchebag, Trent is acting like a 320lb pussy. If he wants nothing to do with the Redskins and wants to be traded, then just say it. instead of playing games and having sources spill rumors, act up, be a man and say trade me now. The team stood by Trent when he got suspended twice for weed, bar fight when he got hit in the head with a bottle (probably what caused the issue).

Yeah until I hear Trent come out himself and say "I wan't out" I really won't buy into all the drama. Jay said last week that he would go to Texas and talk to Trent if he has too. So we'll see |

On Sheehan's radio show, Charley Casserly sounded pretty definitive when he said TW's holdout was 100% about money, said he talked with people who would know on both sides... I still think it's nothing money can't fix... but I'm not sure any of the 2 sides will budge... Let's hope TW realizes he has more to lose by sitting at home than playing. |

Charlie Casserly said something along the lines that the team could have easily gone after his guaranteed money after his two pots suspensions and they didn't. He also brought up a good point that if the team were to do anything extra for Trent, Kerrigan's agent would likely be knocking on their door since he's in a similar contract situation, yet he's been more consistent and durable than Trent. As I've said before, I'm done with Trent. I mean, we were probably a year or two away from figuring out what life after him would be for the team (due to his health/age), so he's just moved that ahead of schedule. I just hope the team doesn't make the same mistake that they did with Cousins, and let this linger around. Let's just get Schreff's deal done and let's move on from this stupid distraction. |
Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Let him hold out. Let him lose game checks and see how that goes. In the end I'm not giving him away. Better get at least a 2nd and more before I'd deal him.
|

If he's not going to ever play for us then trade him to the highest bidder. The Texans have the most cap room and might trade him for a 1st or 2nd (most likely the latter). |

Let's just get Schreff's deal done and let's move on from this stupid distraction
This. At some point you have to make a decision and move forward. It is not unthinkable that the team as a whole can still do well without TW. For the record I would much rather have TW here and happy. But if that can't happen move on. |

I think Bruce is digging in...with no communication and that’s where I have the problem
This. So much could be solved if Bruce was effective at communicating. Instead we're probably gonna sit on our asses and do nothing and hope some team comes calling with a good offer. And if nobody does we're eventually gonna trade him for shit. |

Yup Bruce mid season will get a 3rd round pick and a bowl of cornflakes, but then act like he got a first round pick and head from Joy Taylor. |

I think Bruce is digging in...with no communication and that’s where I have the problem
This happens ALL THE TIME in these situations. Please don't make me defend Bruce Allen. I have no problem with the team digging in and calling Trent's bluff, this happens a lot in these situations. A lot of crap is going to come up from both sides, but once again: this happen in these situations. My only request for the team is to make a quicker decision to move on from him, I don't want another Cousins situation. Especially if it is made clear that he doesn't want to play here (like Cousins did). We just also need to have the right situation though, if some team's LT goes down, we'll be in a good position to trade him. |
Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
Trade him if the reports are true. Trading sooner is better than later....
|
Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
If the best we can get for him is something in the ball park of 5th or 6th rd pick, I say put him on the Reserve/Did Not Report list and leave him there to rot.
T Willy, we all hate the front office but we still love the team. Come on, Dawg. Fuck! |
Re: Trent Williams holding out for new deal
If the skins need any more proof of why TW is our MVP, watch the first few drives tonight. Yikes
