I hope he wins 6 more in a row and gives me an all you can eat crow buffet.

Even so, I'd still draft a guy in the 2nd or 3rd. Would be nice to have a real plan at QB and have it be a position of strength.

I'm with u, I hope he keeps this up but for some reason I just feel like the Cinderella story will end soon.. Hope I'm wrong but history isn't on his side.

If he wins 6 more in a row to make it 9 straight, safe to say he would be the real plan at QB moving forward.

I wonder if Philly thought the same thing about Foles? StL sure did to sign him like they did after they got him from Philly. TH is a good stop-gap this year but it would be a shock if he's still the QB next year.

Even if he balls out for the rest of the year I'd still bring in a project qb for next season.

With our luck he'd sign a 5 year extension and then go down for the year with a torn ACL in the first quarter of week 1.

Hes a good qb and a great player. I don't know how much of a difference it would make with a diff qb in there, but he's playing better than a very large chunk of the rest of the qbs in the league right now. That has GOT to count for something.

MTK 12-01-2021 02:03 PM

Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke

At this rate it would be a shock to see TH not the QB here next year. How about we just let this thing play out vs planning for his replacement or writing him off as being another Foles, is that even a bad thing though? The guy did win a SB while playing lights out.

His stats will never be the top of the qb charts, but in game ending and clutch moments his mindset and focus sharpens for the better. KC will be at the top of qb ratings but in clutch moments he makes a bone head play, like lining up under the wrong guy.

Will TH be here next year, yes. Will he be starting this time next year probably not. Like I said, I'd love to see them make a run at Russell Wilson. He's secure the QB spot with top talent for the next five years.

Foles was great for one season which is more than a lot of QBs can say. But in the context of WFTs long term QB solution, then yes TH being Foles is a bad thing.

Yeah I still don't get the Foles thing, TH's story is still being written. As for RW, he's got a no trade clause. He's not coming here. Last we knew his agent leaked that he would only approve a deal to go to the Cowboys, Bears, Saints, and Raiders.

ESPN ranks him 20 out of 36.

He would for the right offer/deal. Especially if WFT keeps playing well. He's a waaaaay better version of TH and would excel in this system.

Looks like the Eagles are interested in him now.

Three of those teams don't make sense anymore: Dallas, LV, & Chicago.

Id put TH at 20 or so … which isn’t a knock on the guy. Amazing story that is still being written. He’s certainly playing like a starting QB the past 3 games. He’s doing things now that he wasn’t doing before the bye. He’s running plays and the playbook.

Before he could have good stats for a game or two but it wasn’t a sustainable style and was reliant on him being off schedule every snap.

I’m becoming a TH fan .. not a believer he can be a trusted starter yet but he is getting his chance and it’s just a great fucking story.

20/36 sounds right for him. TH is giving us what we thought RF would give us and at a cheaper price. And he still has some upside.

I'm rooting for the guy. It would be nice if he was the next Brett Favre, and he's here long term, but we have a long way to go before that is determined. Dude has 11 total starts. There are bound to be some more stinkers on his horizon. Hopefully the D continues to improve so when he has one, it's not an automatic loss.

For right now I'd settle for a TH that just continues to improve and make good decisions - see how far this thing can go this year.

Rivera was counting on much much more from RF than he's getting from TH.

Do you really think Ron thought he was getting a top 5 QB in RF??

Per the article PFF ranked RF #19 coming into this year, that's more like what Ron thought he was getting.

SunnySide 12-01-2021 03:35 PM

Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke

I think RR and Turner were looking for a game managing qb who can throw the ball to Gibson or Thomas on designed plays PLUS the ability to hit on the occassional long shot.

Stretching the field and not letting D only defend the first 20 yards from LOS was a big talking point coming into this season.

Heinike was hitting those seams to Thomas for good through air yards plays and I hope we can get that going. Effective when we need 15

No. I think RR thought he was getting a dynamic QB who seemed to be getting better and could provide WFT with a deep threat QB that they haven't, and still don't have.

Don't get me wrong, I like TH and what he's doing now but the notion that WFT has somehow found its QB of the future is IMO ridiculous.

It might be equally as ridiculous to say they haven't. We just haven't seen enough.

I really don’t care about the deep ball right now. It is no coincidence that our D is rising up as we are killing clock with long sustained drives. There is a happy chemistry on this team right now between the O and the D that we haven’t seen in forever. They are feeding off each other.

Teams still have to respect the deep ball with Terry and now Curtis back. So let TH chuck it every once in a while to keep the defense honest, but we make our living with runs, screens, and intermediate passes - LT gonna get in a groove soon. That is how you give the D the rest it needs. It is how they force 3 and outs late in games when you need stops.

That's what opens the middle for LT and McKissic. If defenses stop respecting the deep routes then TH's future will be questionable.

Scott Turners offense isn't set up for many deep shots anyway.. Even in Carolina they didn't do it much with Cam.

I agree, and it's not like we're not taking shots. Normally Terry comes down with those, but it just wasn't in the cards. I think right now we're averaging 2-3 long balls a game, and that's about right considering #4's arm strength. Keep on completing 77% of your passes and we'll all be...

He will get lucky at times. All those gunslingers do. Yes that should have been a pick 6 but he’s also had some throws that should have been caught for TDs too.

Hopefully he is here next year the team leaders love him after watching Jon Allen speak. No way I want someone like Matty Ice or Wilson here they are washed! That would be so wft Modus Operandi over pay for a guy on the backside of his career who has been trending down the past 2 seasons and doesnt bring much if anything more then you have on the roster now.

You want to send Rodgers yea no brainier and probably Carr although he has a reputation as soft among players. I dont see anybody else Mariota hard no!

I agree playing these "what if scenarios" are always pointless. Never understand why people play them. People do this on the positive also, take away that one rbs 50 yard run and he only got 60 yards not 110, I always think yea whats your point!

Dude I love TH. You can go back to last year when I spent weeks arguing that he isn’t as fragile as everyone thinks. I loooove TH. BUT if you think Russ is washed you’re crazy. He is coming off an injury. I would trade TH straight up for Russ in a nano second. Actually quicker than that.

I don't think RW is washed up but he's going to be a NYG.. It's been rumored since June.. Apparently he wants to live and play in NY.

I think we have no choice but to keep TH

skinsfan69 12-06-2021 08:38 AM

Re: Taylor Effing Heinicke

It is a tough thing w/ TH because he is a limited QB as far as arm talent goes but he makes plays. Have to remember that the goal is to try and win a SB, not be a playoff contender. IDK if our offense will be explosive enough to be a SB contender w/ him as our QB. Having 15 play drives is great but also you have to be able to make big plays and score. Can't win every game at 17-15.

Next week will be interesting. Cowboys are going to move the ball and score. Can we match them?

I think the evidentiary record was not on your side with that argument.

Given the injury to Fitz, we're lucky that they brought him back this year. He is playing just well enough to complement how well this defense is playing of late, but yeah I would trade him for Russell Wilson - easily.
