Just reading this now. I think you're thinking in terms of a signing bonus. Guaranteed money doesn't have to be up front. It can be stretched out or back loaded. If Smith is getting $23.5M each season, all guaranteed, then that's only $23.5M where as Cousins would have wanted at least $30M OR the tag at $34M.

So are you telling me that Colt can't do the same things that Smith can do? I just have a hard time believing that. Plus on top of that you extend a 34 year old several millions of dollars and you give up Fuller and a 3rd rounder??? I'm sorry but I can wrap my fucking head around that. I just can't. COLT MCCOY isn't on the same planet as Alex Smith, u guys are going way too crazy with all of this.

Lets not forget that the man was the #1 overall pick that means he has the talent to do it all on the field, Colt was a 3rd round pick right? I mean its not even close bro

Yeah without the specifics yet we don't know what the cap hit will be for the seasons but like you said with your example I think it will be less of a cap hit than what we had if we signed KC.

What pisses me off is that you don’t trade your second best CB and a 3rd round pick for a 33 year old QB on the downside of his career and give him lots of money. Iwould have offered 3rd and that’s it. Management sucks!!

You're being ridiculous. Alex Smith has been a starting in the league for how long? Compared to Colt McCoy? If McCoy was all that there wouldn't have been the contract issue with Cousins in the first place, he would've been a free agent a year ago.

Once again when it's all said and done and we are in the mix for a deep playoff run next season everyone will say Jay and co. did a great job. We lost a good 3rd CB for a proven winner at the most important pos in football. I'll take that everyday

For the record I do not think Alex Smith is a significant down grade at qb as many have argued he might even be slightly better. I just do not like giving up the talent and the draft pick to get someone who is not the qb of the future. It is a lateral move with a loss of future talent in Fuller and a draft pick.
