If Sean Taylor isn't back next week we might as well not even show up to Dallas. This is clearly a totally diffrent defense without him. 20 points allowed in the last 10 minutes is just pathetic.

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles round II game thread

While I don't think that we are destined for last place, our chances at winning the division this year just flew out the window. To me, that pretty much means our chance of reaching our ultimate goal, the super bowl, just ended.

It will be a struggle from here on out to get the 6th seed and make the playoffs, especially since the defense is so very bad. Apparently, our "mastermind" coordinator needs 3 good CBs to cover so much as one receiver.

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles round II game thread

I said it before and Ill say it again. The game has passed Gibbs by. The clock mgnt from the sidelines is horrible and it has been for the last 3 years. Couldnt challange the Mcardell play (with the replay shows he did actually catch)

No emotion at all. 3rd and goal from the 7 and we run a draw? Give me a break. He coaches scared. We can all be fans here and still state our opinion. I also agree with some that GW is not the answer at the head coach position.

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles round II game thread

No need to start getting nasty towards each other. The Skins are just being the Skins post Jack Kent Cooke era. All I can say is I hope you guys have some backup favorite teams you can root for, either college or pro. Skins will only disappoint you in the end it seems like.

Hog's Breath 11-11-2007 04:40 PM

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles round II game thread

Definitely disappointing. Though things seem pretty bleak, the season is not over. Loved the way the offense looked today, except near the goal line.

The defense flat out stunk. What I can't understand is, why no blitzing today? Seemed to work pretty well last week.

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles round II game thread

why do we quit playing d in the 4th quarter....and how do you not see the pass to westbrook coming?? mcnabb throws to the TE and westbrook only. we should of had fletcher and mcintosh on him.. Y no Rush??? if the gmen got 13 sacks on mcnabb couldn we atleast give pressure on him... we are starting to click on offense, and now the defense is in decline.

I just don't get some of these people. It's like they are enjoying our losses or something.
There are way more productive ways to display your frustration...look at Matty (yes, I know, I don't normally use him as an example, but he's good at this...) he came on here all pissed, and instead of kicking the skins, and skins fans when they are down, he made observations on WHY we lost...such as the penalties killed us. That is productive, and that is respectable. Saying we're going to lose to the cowboys before we even play is nothing good, and doesn't serve anyone good including the person that says it.
I don't know about you, but I'm going to go to the corner, lick my wounds from this game, cause it stung, and then I'll be ready to cheer for the Skins every single freakin minute of the Cowboys / Skins game. They deserve no less from us.

BLITZ!!!!! What the f@ck is wrong with you... FIRE Greg Willliams ... sure the Offense should have gone for it when they had it close instead of kickin' a FG but our D is horrible at Cover 2... they dumped it off to Westbrook and because of Cover 2 he was able to get blockers in front and run it all the way to the endzone... we blitz 1 time and nearly knock out McNabb ... its been 3 weeks since the blow out and he still thinks his D scheme is good... Gibbs should tell him to BLITZ of find another job ... It was good to see the Offense come together after the blow out ... where the f@ck is the D ... they have the players but drop the Cover 2 our Front 4 cant keep getting pressure on the QB ... We are done the seasons over we're 5-5 after next week unless our D gets good and quick... I Hate Gregg Williams ... he is startin to wear his tenure as a 'Skins coach thin... really thin

another issue with the coaching staff is the dumb penalties. Its a total lack of disipline. false starts? 12 men on the field? C'mon

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles round II game thread

Season isn't over mathematically Hog, but we had this game won it seems like. Other than Buffalo and maybe Chicago the other games are more apt to be regarded as future losses. Portis gets like 130+ yards on the ground and we still lose. We will lose next weekend and very likely againt TB in TB. If we go 0-2 during the road trip season is over for sure. A win in NJ over the Gmen isn't in the cards unless Dallas bashes the hell out of them today.

Well, we very seldom get good penetration from the front 4 meaning we need more coverage in the secondary. We were missing a healthy Taylor and Rogers...that doesn't help at all.
If we didn't shoot ourselves in the foot, we win by 2 tds. We need not to self destruct on the field...if we do that, I think we can rival anyone in the league (minus the pats).

Exactly, we look like the most disorganized team in football almost every Sunday. If that is not a direct reflection of the coaches I don't know what is.

I'm with you jsarno, whilst it feels my heart has been ripped out right now, it won't stop me from cheering us on next week and each successive week.
Surely the past couple of seasons alone should prove to the non-believers that whilst there are games left or time on the clock it isn't over ...

13-0 down to Dallas, then 2 x bombs to Moss to win

The Troy Vincent FG block, Sean Taylor return and susequent Redskin FG to win

5-6, then ripping off 5 straight wins to make the playoffs in 05.

Hopefully the Giants will kick some Cowboy ass to help me feel a bit better, heck Romo could tear an ACL in the next 2 hours, ANYTHING can happen guys - come along for the ride!

Almost an impossiblity at this point. This team doesn't even respond that well with a gun to its head. After the almost for sure Dallas schlacking next week, I fully expect a total breakdown. Buffalo and Chicago at home are our only real good bets at posting Ws now. If we really played good D at TB we could win that, but not certain now.

We're not as far away as we may think though. If we work on the discipline, we can win a lot of games. We really did hand this game over on a silver platter.
I still say we end with 9 wins...hopefully 10.

That stuff could happen bud, but we will need 5 wins against a tough schedule. Cowboys are the best team in the NFC period. Gmen are up there also. We lose all NFC East games from now on. Minnesota at Minnesota is going to be tough and a probable loss. TB is a toss up. Chicago and Buffalo should be wins, but for godssake if we get anymore injuries forget it. Moss is done for the season as being any sort of threat. You are not going to get any heroics from him this season.

...so thats why you have depth, thats when people get their chance to shine. Moss was out today, Thrash stepped up. Taylor may be out, the rest of the guys are just gonna have to step up their game!
Betts stepped up last year, its somepne else turn to make a name for themselves this year by coming out of nowhere and playing beyond what most casual fans would believe they can - theres a reason why these guys are in the league, they can play, a lot of them are just waiting on their chance - and when they get that chance they gotta grab it.

the redskins will be lucky to win another f*****G game this year.what kind of bullshit calls were those on the goal line?then you let westbrook look like gale sayers in the last 5 minutes of the game?they'll get pounded next week, and probably at tampa too!at least we know who the worst team in the nfc east is now aye?i hope greg williams and al saunders pull their perspective heaads out of their asses to at least make the rest of the year worth fu****g watching damn it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just can't believe how well the offense and playcalling looked today (aside from the last trip inside the redzone which was God awful) but how poorly the defense played. Even a gimpy Mcnabb runs all over them....again!!!

And for all the Thrash haters on here, how bout now??? He's one of the hardest working guys on the team!

Cowboys game is not a gimme for them, we had the Giants on the ropes and let them off the hook - if we have aspirations of being a good to great team we need to be able to beat the likes of the Cowboys/Giants, not just the Dolphins/Lions.
This team is a lot closer than a lot of people would have you believe, we may have lost today but we saw progression in the passing game, Portis is hitting form just when we need him - we MAY lose to the Cowboys, but we MAY win and it'll be a cold day in hell before I say we WILL lose to them!!!!

Oh yeah and Gus - Minnesota will be a tough game and a probably loss?
AP just went down with an injury, they just got blanked by Green Bay.
Without All-Day is Brooks Bollinger gonna tear us a new one?
I'm looking at that game as a W.

GusFrerotte 11-11-2007 05:15 PM

Re: Redskins vs. Eagles round II game thread

Of course everyone wants to beat Dallas and make the playoffs, but we have all the intangibles against us. All of the folks in here are making valid points about different aspects as to why this team is failing. Coaching and discipline is in question. More importantly, their heart is coming into question. The injuries alone by themselves would be enough to bury most teams. To be a playoff team you need to beat the teams you are supposed to beat. We barely did it against the lowly Jets and got spanked in the end by the Eagles. OF course every Sunday is different and nothing is written in stone til the game is played, but I just think the tide of recent events is going against us bigtime

How serious is his injury? If it is not an ACL tear type thing or broken leg he should be ready to go against us in December. The attrition rate of our team is horrid, so you might have us lose a few more players also.
