Re: Eagles Fan Take on Free Agency
Redskins Rivals: An Overview Of Why They Still Suck; From a Redskins Fans Perspective. Next off, it's the 2011 Offseason World Champion Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles finally stole our strategy last year, signing big names to big deals in the hopes of making a Super Bowl run, but alas their hopes were dashed only 5 games into the season when it became clear that they suck. So far this offseason the Eagles have stayed quiet in the shithole known as Philly, too ashamed to come out of their shitty apartments to talk about free agency after the way it burned them last offseason. Andy "Walrus" Reid is still in charge, so we have no doubt they will continue to suck again this season.
You forgot one very important issue.... no one takes their OL guru and moves him to DC. The Eagles proved last year that it will not work and it didn't. One would think Reid would have learned his lesson and moved his boy back to OL and hired an actual DC but alas he chose not to do it. He's so stuborn about wanting to prove that he can make right decisions that he refuses to see how bad it really was. Ladies and gentlemen prepare yourself for some more "9-Wide". Prepare yourself for a bad OL. Prepare for the Skins to leap frog the Eagles in 2012 and leave the Eagles sitting in 3rd place of the NFCE. |

Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency Tracker
well if griifin is a safety or a #3, great. if he's a swap for hall... well, the only real improvement is in how expensive our bad secondary is going to be.
chile rachal would be a GREAT underrated signing. still need an ILB and RT, though i assume we'll bring in 2 more vet min dbs and at least 2 more ol as camp competition/depth at some point. |
Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency Tracker
Bills T Demetrius Bell visited the Redskins Friday. Washington wants a RT, also have interest in Eric Winston #freeagency

Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency Tracker
Just out of curiosity but wasn't Bell voted as the worst starting tackle in the NFL or something a two years ago?

No, when Bell's healthy he's great. I follow the Bills almost as religiously as I do Redskins. He's a competent left tackle, has athleticism to play right.... But he's ALWAYS injured, so high risk. |
Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency Tracker
I'm pretty sure 2 or 3 years ago it was him that was considered the worst starting tackle in the nfl by someone (fox, cbs, espn, etc.) I'm pretty positive that Jamarcus webb got that title 2 years ago also ; hopefully I'm not mixing up the two of them.

Didn't know there were credible "worst" of anything awards in the NFL |
Didn't know there were credible "worst" of anything awards in the NFL
There are many different metrics that can be used to give credence to labeling a player as 'best' or 'worst' or any where in between at their respective position.
Any of which are much more credible then saying you remember someone unknown or unnamed saying that player X was the worst. |
Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency Tracker
2) Demetrius Bell, Buffalo Bills
Age as of 1st September, 2012: 28 2011 Grade: +6.8 Key Stat: Allowed pressure only once every 28 pass plays in 2011, up from 13.6 in 2010. Behind the Number: Playing under a restricted free agent tag in 2011, Bell looked to be putting together the classic “contract season” performance until it was curtailed by injury. To his credit, Bell didn’t slip into poor performances of the past in a three-game stint at the end of the season, but is 401 snaps of true quality enough for a team to invest in him long term? Bell was Jason Peters’ replacement after he bolted for Philadelphia, but he was slow to repay the Bills’ faith in him. He has taken large strides since his first season as a starter in 2009 drastically reducing his pressures allowed and penalties conceded through 2010 and 2011. Another big stride in 2012 would see Bell join the league’s Top 10 left tackles. If multiple teams see that as a real possibility Bell’s market value could rise when free agency opens.
Ranking the 2012 Free Agents: Offensive Tackles | ProFootballFocus.com |
hey guys, what's the cap ramifications on us taking Portis and giving up champ. If I'm not mistaken, Portis still is under contract from when he signed as a rookie and that would obviously be be cap friendly however, will he want a new deal with the Skins. Oh yeah, is Scott's gonna help him pack, I'll drive his moving truck for him for NADA !!! So long Champ ...
Re: 2012 Redskins Free Agency Tracker
Off topic perhaps, but -- I hate when the news media says the top teams like the Green Bay Packers and NY Giants are not active in free agency -- because they have a "different philosophy", etc. Just a bunch of bull.
One of the main reasons that the good teams don't go after free agents is -- they already have good players, and try to keep them. Keeping their own costs money and they use most of the cap. Our team traditionally gets high priced FA's every year, and then tosses them out the next. When we get rid of high priced players like McNabb, Haynesworth, Otogwe, etc -- we take a hit but usually still have cap room from dumping them to get more fAs the next year. Other teams Green Bay are filled with big ticket players who they keep for years, and thus don't go after players Vincent Jackson because (1) they don't need them, and (2) they can't afford them, and (3) small part philosophy of drafting players. Just saying - that when we get good, we'll also not chase after Pierre Garcon's, but have the luxury of keeping our own and drafting within. I have a feeling this will be in the near future. |
