Play with Brandon Weeden or Robert Griffin? Hmmm.... Tough decision...

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I can't see anything other than money and returning to his hometown as being reasons to sign with CLE.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
He continued: “I even asked Bruce why [the offer] changed, and he said, ‘It’s because of the cap,’ and I got emotional, because this is home. I love the fans, I love the team and the coaches and the guys in that locker room, and the city. But, God’s moving me in a different direction, and it’s the Cardinals. Hopefully, I’ll be able to carry over the same type of hard work and play that I had here, and bring it there. But it was definitely hard. It just didn’t add up for me to stay. But I know, in my heart of hearts, if it wasn’t for the cap, I would've been here.”
This is an exert from an article in the Washington Post. Zo wanted to come back, we wanted him back, the cap penalty cost us and he knows it. No hard feelings and what ever was written before about him being upset with the organization was just looking for press. I wish the guy the best. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
So, we've got a new RT: Jeremy Trueblood!
Schefter just posted that there's essentially a bidding war between us and Cleveland for Fred.
I'm nervous. https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/statuses/312195340252102656 Hopefully we'll beat them out for Davis like we did for Griffin. New owner though, so we'll see if he's as shy with the trigger as the last guy.
If Cleveland wants him they will get him, they have a lot of cap freedom and are poised to make some big moves. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I know it's early, but i don't like the THOUGHT of Trueblood, Pashos, or Compton starting at RT Wk. 1

Yup. If we lose Fred, its not the worst thing in the world. We had a potent offense without him for much of last year. Given all our other needs, TE is not a position worth breaking the bank for, especially not one coming of a major injury and one mistake away from a 1 year suspension. We can get buy with paulsen and a cheaper, pass catching TE this year. Next year, we'll have plenty of money to splurge on"non-essential but "nice to have" guys like Davis. |

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I know he's (Fred Davis) from Ohio, but man, Brandon Weeden, or RG3??

If I'm a TE, I'll take Weeden. That dude needs to dump off the ball a lot more. More catches. More stats. When it comes down to it, it's mainly a money issue. |

Years 3-8 for RG3 is what the Skins should be preparing for. We can get by this year without him. Find some gems in the draft. And what the hell, Niles Paul? Step up! |

It's Free Agency, the question is not Weeden or RG3. The question is more money or less money. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
If it costs to much to keep Fred Davis the Skins should let him go. The good thing about tight ends and receivers is you can find a lot of them outside the first round and they can do great for your teams. So he is replaceable to me, I do not want the Skins to let him go but in the NFL you have to set a value for a player (like the Patriots and Welker) and if they want more than that... goodbye.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Trueblood is a better pass blocker than Polumbus. It sucks that we don't have the money for Winston.
Let Fred walk if he wants a lot of money. |

He's pretty athletic, he excels more in run, pashos more in pass pro. Seems like RT by committee. |
I know it's early, but i don't like the THOUGHT of Trueblood, Pashos, or Compton starting at RT Wk. 1
I like Pashos a lot more than Trueblood, who is one of the worst lineman in the NFL. He couldn't keep his starting job last year, benched due to excessive suckage on a bad team. Compton has more potential than Trueblood, who has a track record already. I think the competition is between Compton and Pashos, who was good before missing last year to injury. Maybe we'll get lucky in the draft but I doubt it...we need a secondary still. Another RB is probably a good idea. I'm still holding out hope that Helu can return to form and Hightower can come back but right now if Morris goes down, we need someone better than Royster. Coincidently, the Bucs stopped dressing him for games against the Skins. :D Jeremy Trueblood's lack of versatility prompted inactive status | Tampa Bay Times Jeremy Trueblood addresses diminished role with Bucs | Tampa Bay Times |

No committee. OL starters must work together as a unit. It's a competition for the job. |

Doubt Cooley will be back, he didnt do much after Davis got hurt. Paulsen, Paul and FA or rookie and we will be fine at TE. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
call me shocked if Trueblood makes the team
|
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Man this whole salary cap issue is making us the definition of RE-TREAD. Pashos and Youngblood? Those words are synonyms for Polumbus.
I hope that Tom Compton is named the starter, and Pashos/Youngblood battle it out for the back up position and the other guy gets cut. We are gonna have a struggle at right tackle, might as well throw Compton in the deep in and see if he can swim. I'll take young talent any day if the skills are similar to an older vet. |

People are saying that but are we forgetting that we couldn't get a first down for a good portion of the Seattle game? We needed Davis in that game. In order to be a Super Bowl contending type of team ( and not one that is one and done in the playoffs) we simply can't afford to let Davis walk out the door. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I think RG3 playing with a bad knee was why we couldn't pick up first downs, Davis wouldn't have won us that game

I'm worried also but who knows, maybe he comes in here and the scheme is a better fit for his skills? IDK. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
The skins are not doing much but at least they are not overspending for some players, like Toler or Sean Smith. No need to pay some one too much. If I were the skins I would wait a little longer so free agents start to sweat and then you have all the leverage.

But then all the good free agents are taken. If I were the Redskins, I wouldn't bring any free agents; I would wait for the draft. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Maybe Shanny thought he was getting some cool southern vampires when they asked if he wanted to sign Trueblood.
