Dude, too many of us in here almost thought of RG III as our savior. Shoot you had a man crush thread in here about the guy not so long ago. This guy will not pan out because his supporting cast is deficient, but he still was over hyped beyond belief. This guy is going to enter his contract year with probably a .500 record or less. JC was less than .500, while Gus hovered around .500. Are you going to pay the guy up the wazoo to renew? You needed DBs and O linemen, before the stud QB, now the stud QB isn't going to win you games, so what is the point of having a stud QB? Build from the lines outward. Next draft should be nothing more than defensive players and maybe one or two O linemen. It is obvious that one man isn't going to get the Skins back to the glory days. Defense wins titles, and our D sucks, and personally has to be rebuilt. If we go say 0-6 0-7 if we do lose in Oakland I would start Cousins just to see what he can do, and at the very least showcase him for a trade for draft picks if he does well, or maybe keep him. I am foreseeing a total overhaul on both sides of the ball in the offseason, and if that happens RG III might not be the man anymore.
Well I will agree, RG3 was over hyped, not only by every single person here, but the media as well.

That 7 game win streak last year saved his job. I seriously doubt that's going to happen twice.

If Aldrick can hold that pass--we're all singing a different tune. It's a game of inches and a game of momentum. Tough loss. RGIII is looking better, but that bonehead fumble was awful and the pick on the sideline was all on him. So that's that game--turnovers, missed opportunities and awful penalties. And this is with a really bad D.

Stay the course. It's a long-term plan. RGIII in year 3 will be better. We need to get a D somehow--tough to do with the salary cap penalty. Haslett may not last the year, though Shanny is pretty loyal.
How did we so badly botch bringing RG3 back?

Yes and no. Shanahan's tenure will be defined by RG3, and vice versa. Shanahan is the kind of guy who lives and dies by the sword. He would never, ever, admit a mistake and so he would go down for it with his pride and his ego intact, rather than do an about face and play cousins now.

I heard rumors that other NFL folks and even people inside the organization were lobbying for Shanahan to start Cousins, with the idea that RG3 would be 100% by the time we come back from the bye. I also heard at that time, the question was asked what would be done if Cousins was hot or the skins were on a winning streak? So obviously Shanahan wanted to squash any controversy by sticking with RG3 no matter what.

Kind of reminds me how much JC stunk, but he was never benched no matter how poorly he played, even when we had other quarterbacks on the roster (at the time) who could play.

I think the mentality is that Shanahan gave up all of those picks and basically mortgaged the team's future on a "maybe", that for year one, appeared to be a "definitely". So RG3 will never be benched unless it is god forbid due to an injury, and Shanahan is likely using his remaining time with the skins to audition for another team, if he decides to stay in the NFL. I kind of see him riding off into the sunset if he gets canned here. He is sort of an older guy.

A lot of football left. Its not like the NFC east is pulling away
I agree, but our schedule after the bye sucks. If we go 0-7 we do need to think about acquiring additional draft picks without giving up one, so we better see what Cousins can do. People are not going to bite on a backup QB that only played a few games the previous season. we need to keep him though. If the worst possible scenario plays out and MS is canned, along with Kyle you will get a new HC and OC who just might favor KC if he is more in tune with their offensive scheme.
Showcase? Do you think it's possible he may be the starter here one day?
Maybe. I cant predict the future. I do know that if Griff is here for the next ten years as our starter KC will be gone. So play him because griff aint ready. If the guy is a stud and wins a damn superbowl than we have a surprise "savior". If griff comes back and returns to form than we showcased KC. Either way i think its the rite thing to do now.

The Giants are 0-3 after being blown out and held to a donut on the score board.
If there is a silver lining here gents, it's that the media will be so focused on their annual "Whats wrong with New York?" and be too busy putting Coughlin on the hot seat.

RG3 not worth all the draft picks using him as just a drop back passer. He has to run or drafting him was way too costly for what the coaches have him doing. With this gam,e plan Cousins at round 4 would be just as good. Change the plays or the trade to get RG3 was just too costly. What he was doing last year was worth the picks.

That's hard to say after 3 games. But the redskins would be just as bad regardless of who is starting at QB unless its one the elite QBs.

Hit the ground and dragged on the ground but i thought he kept his hand underneath it? The tip was dragging but his hand appeared underneath it and he than seemed to scoop it up without totally losing control of it. Either way the game shouldnt come down to one play. Plenty of mistakes and plenty of poor coaching and playcalls to go around. Not to mention zero discipline.....again.
BS. Just stop.
My post might be coming across the wrong way. I'm just trying to say that even if Cousins might be the better option for right now, there is no way in the world that Shanahan would ever do it.

Too much is invested in RG3, I think it's obvious. I'm just trusting the opinion of NFL guys and former players and coaches like Tony Dungy. None of them are saying RG3 is done. But they are saying that at this moment in time, he is not healthy, and he is not playing well, and it is causing damage to the team to have him in there like that. Year 3 might be different. But it also might be like when other mobile QB's have had their wheels fall off. It isn't a pretty sight to watch a mobile QB lose his legs little by little. I think of McNabb, Culpepper, Brunell, and others who have went through this.

Someone brought up a great point, that if we get to 0-7, it might be time to play Cousins only to see what he can do, because by that point, the Shanahans might be gone and a new coach may feel that Kirk Cousins might fit into the offense, sort of like Chip Kelly did with Vick and Foles......

The Oline and receivers haven't been playing well. RG3 hasn't been playing at the level we expected from him, but I don't think cousins would do any better given the circumstances.
