No, he was a member of the 1987 team. Look at the guy in the Redskins sweater next to Gibbs signaling in the plays. He was on IR.

Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason
So when you say career numbers are you talking about regular season only? Because the postseason counts too when talking about a career resume. And fair or not it's going to be weighed more heavily especially when you win 2. Everyone knows Marino was a brilliant QB who was stuck on mostly mediocre teams. And everyone knows Dilfer was a terrible QB who played with one of the best all time defenses. There's context to everything.
Absolutely post season numbers need to be and should be considered. You cant take away those games, but playing postseason games normally means you have a good coach, gm, owner, defense, weapons, etc. So guys like Marino, Stafford, etc are just unfortunate they were drafted by who they were drafted by.

What Im saying is you cannot simply say “eli won two super bowl mvp’s he is definitely in”. That is nonsense. Yes absolutely context to everything.
At the end of the day I think HOF careers rise to the surface regardless of championships or situations. My comments were really focused on Elis situation. There is no way he is even in the conversation if he played on a team like Marino.

Exactly. Throwing for 4,000 + yards in the 60's was a serious accomplishment.

Eli will make it ... and he probably should.

But Joe Jacoby definitely should. That dude is getting screwed, royally.

Switching gears ... we need a countdown clock somewhere on here. Til when we play our first pre-season game, or something. I've watched more soccer than I care to admit this off season. And while it is somewhat engaging, it further solidifies my love of american football.

If guys like Warren Moon can make the HOF, Eli Manning will too. Give him his due, he won 2 rings against the mighty Pats plus he owns the Giants Passing records.

I agree, Watching JJ and LT was a game in itself. It wasn't just LT , he went all the great defenders in the NFL back then . Bruce Smith Reggie White ,I agree he should be in.

P. S

He made some pretty funny commercials.
????? Two????
I misunderstood the OP. I thought he said Eli won 2 Super Bowls, which he did, but he said Eli won two Super Bowl MVP…which Mark did not. Mark was on IR during the 87 season so technically he did win 2 Super Bowls, but not 2 Super Bowl MVPs.

Saints' OT Ryan Ramczyk is signing a five-year, $90 million extension that includes $60 million guaranteed and makes him the new highest-paid right tackle in football, source tells ESPN.

I am quite happy to be disregarded as a threat in the NFC.

Historically I feel teams tend to do better when people lower their expectations for success for the year. I will use the 2018 Caps and the 2019 Nats as my examples.

When everybody expects you to compete for a title in a given year, only disappointment remains when you don't.

I understand the line of thinking - but this is not the case where it counts ie: other teams and coaching staffs. The arrogant ones may overlook but the NFL is on notice of this defense and will be very quickly aware of how well this offense can run. The talking heads and public opinion mean jack shit unless it's creeping in subliminally to coaching staffs around the league but i doubt it.

Well that was pleasant.

For me it's all about the respect from guys that aren't your teammates. If you have the attention of other All-Pro type players that speaks volumes. Great video.

I think McLaurin is the equivalent on offense. He’s a worker and really wants to be great. They’re two of my favorite players in a long time.

Re: Around the NFL: NFL Offseason

This is neat, PFR did the research and compiled an unofficial list of sack leaders going back to 1960. In the new unofficial rankings, Deacon Jones ranks 3rd in NFL history with 173.5 sacks. And Al Baker would be your single season record holder with 23 sacks in 1978 (scroll down the page in the link for the listing).

Also officially, no player has ever led the league in sacks more than twice. Unofficially Deacon Jones holds that record with 5 though.

And finally, Dexter Manley's totals would go up 103.5 when you add the 6 sacks from his rookie season (when sacks weren't an official stat).
