Ruh man your optimism is commendable, seriously. But over the last 30 years we are very close to being the worst on the field. We are top 5. Off the field, we could be considered the worst.
It isn’t like anyone is exaggerating our woes. To me the losing and the shenanigans are way older than the absolutely warranted complaints. Getting McKissic back is awesome and as a fan I applaud his loyalty- it doesn’t change 30 years though brother. Let’s win more games than we lose for a little while and than we can start complaining about the complaining. Lol. That is everyones hope. That RR, and this new Front office will.., A) be left alone by Douche Snyder to dig out of the hole. Seems like it is the case. B) do it successfully. Better be the case. Our win percentage over the last ten years is actually worse than it was over the last 30. Which is hard to believe. None of which lies with RR or this front office. They have definitely made us at the very least, and in your words, mediocre with potential. I think everyone knows if RR ultimately fails or reverts back to one of the worst that we are in deep doo doo - so of course there is some edgy concern. This next couple years is make or break time for him and if he cant fix it - deep doo doo. Im glad they got McKissic back. I hope we nail these few draft picks, I hope Wentz reverts back to pre 2020 Wentz (and i think he can). I hope we sign a couple key pieces (namely starting G’s). If those three things happen than certainly this can be considered a time when we dug out of Snyders hole he built. But that monumental task can only be performed by doing one thing. Winning more games than we lose. Time will tell. |
Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
Releasing Flowers? Wow -- that seems a bad move as he's played very well for us. Do we not have ANY capacity to restructure deals?

No one can be surprised about Deshazor Everett, right? I mean he was destined to be released. Surprised it took this long.

Ron has been given free reign and has made some very questionable moves, including not picking one QB in the draft in two years. That in turn has made him swing for the fences w/ a QB who has been kicked out the door twice. Some isn't Ron's fault but he took the job knowing the deal here. He gave up a 5th for a QB that TH ended up playing in front of that will no longer be w/ the team. Then he gave Samuel big money knowing he was hurt and got 0 production out of him Ron the coach is 14-20, Ron the GM gets a C- to D+. That isn't mediocre. |
Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
Not every move is going to work out as expected.
You can debate the QB move all you want, because CW hasn't played a down in a Commander's uniform yet. However, RR has made plenty of other real good moves since he's been here. BTW, I think TH ended up playing in front of Kyle Allen last year because we lost our starting QB in the first half of the first game of the season, and he was still coming off a pretty brutal injury. |
Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
A 5th for a vet QB that who knows the system is a who cares move. It worked out fine. Big money to a WR that never played or overpaying Collins etc are the ones that actually hurt the team.

I'd agree probably a ratings thing. Same thing happened with WJZ pulling local Orioles broadcasts a few years back. Sucks for me. I usually listen to the game while doing yard work or working in my woodshop for a few hours. I am sure someone will pick up a broadcast though. |

This is what I'm tracking so far, just 10 days after the tampering period commenced:
Additions: Carson Wentz Andrew Norwell Efe Obada Bringing back: JD McKissic Cam Sims Cornelius Lucas Tyler Larsen Keith Ismael Bobby McCain Danny Johnson Troy Apke Joey Slye Brian Johnson Let go: Brandon Scherff Tim Settle Matt Ioannidis Ereck Flowers Deshazor Everett Landon Collins Still over 20M in cap space to use if they want. What do you think they will do prior to the draft (if anything)? |

Any rumours on re-signing DeAndre Carter? Figured if you're resigning Apke because of his ST 'prowess', resigning Carter makes more sense.

I bet it's still part of the plan but they're waiting for him to drop his price. After the season he had last year he might be thinking he can get a couple million. Crowder just signed for $2.0M and Zach Pascal signed for $1.5M. Carter had a nice season but he's not getting more than that. Once he comes around to that realization he'll probably be back here for $1.0M - $1.5M. |

I'm aware that I may sound like a broken record these days, so sorry about that, but I can't see how we could enter the draft without at least one signing at MLB. Yes there may still be very decent vets available after the draft but it's no guarantee, and right now this is such a big need that it could influence our draft (in later rounds) so in my view it'd be better to know before the draft to what extent it's a still a need. |

But I don't want to lose that compensatory pick for Scherff, especially considering we will be down another pick next year too for Wentz. That's a top 100 pick. And there are some damn good LB's that should be available through our 2nd round pick. I hope we go WR/LB or LB/WR in the 1st 2 rounds. Then CB or S in the 4th round. |

But it seems to me like NFL MLB is a position that takes a bit of time to learn. Even if we draft a stud, is he NFL ready right away? If he isn't, who do we have? If he is, are we good with being one injury away from playing David Mayo ? I also feel like we don't want to be in a position have to reach for need... But this is looking more and more like the FO agrees with you on the importance of this 3rd round comp pick, and maybe the plan is to sign a vet after the draft. I'm hanging on to my recollection of my middle school English teacher telling us that "might" expresses a lower probability than "may"... (is it accurate btw? ^^) I actually like Holcomb at WLB but to think that he's the answer at MLB is a joke. So Davis, Holcomb + hopefully a rookie would be our starters. Mayo, Hudson and a couple of UDFAs for depth ? That'll sure give nightmares to opposing Offensive Coordinators... |

Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
Here comes that sinking feeling again. For all those in favour of protecting a compensatory pick, is the 98th pick in the draft really worth having over a viable starter at MLB for 2-3 years. I am not so sure. They have not replaced the hybrid/ buffalo nickel position either. After last year Hudson is not an exciting prospect either
