It's not like our running game without him is the shit...if he's healthy I would insert him as the starter because his pass protection is invaluable in all downs.
I made my peace with Portis because i felt sorry for him, the fact that he believes he is still a top 5 player, even though its only in his head.

The truth is, i bet he believes that he can still be a starter somewhere else, and he will demand starter money, which is why he wont be back here...
You know where CP could go and finish his career? Somewhere like New England. He could touch the ball 10-15 times a game and would probably thrive in that role. Hoodie would keep him in check. Perfect place for CP.

I would hope RB will be high on our offseason wishlist. Not sure CP can handle the load full time anymore that's why I suggested a 3rd down role. Either way, the guy still has some value.

I always figured if Portis could accept a role as a backup, that he would be very good in 3rd down situations, or the occasional handoff to change things up. I just think that he still has that starter mentality and would not want to share the job with someone else...

Not sure what he's doing exactly to give you the indication that he's not willing to share the load.

He didn't pout when we brought in Parker and LJ, hell he didn't even gripe when Betts got snaps in the past.

And he was Keiland's biggest cheerleader the other night. I think it's time to admit it SS, he's not the self-serving egomaniac you picture him as.

That comment wasn't meant to be directed at Portis as something negatively. And I wasn't criticizing him. I just mean i think he is mentally at the point right now where he believes he is a #1 back. I am just assuming that at year's end, he will want a new contract giving him starter money, and i think he will go to some other team...I am not criticizing him at all.

What has he said or done to make you assume that??

Regardless of what he wants, nobody is going to give him starter money, that's just the reality of things. So I really wouldn't be surprised if he sticks around in a reduced role here. He likes playing for MS and I don't get the impression he wants to leave when push comes to shove.

That's what separates us from teams like New England, Pittsburgh and a few others. They're quick to get rid of guys that don't produce. As far as I'm concerned, we should rid ourselves of any offensive player from the past 5 years.

It's time to close the chapter on Portis, Moss and even Cooley.

Have you seen receiving core behind Moss? Its maybe the worst in the league. I think Moss is a necessary extention just based on that fact, if he leaves we got nothing but Armstrong...and that aint saying much

There's some good free agent WR's that will be available next year. We can definitely upgrade at WR next year.

Re: LOL @ Redskins

We are a joke this year. There's just no two ways about it. We have only seven possessions all season that have lasted 10 plays or more, fewest in the NFL.

Donovan McNabb is the league's lowest-rated quarterback on third down, completing only 42 percent of his passes with a rating of 44.5.

The Redskins went 0 for 10 on third down conversions against the Eagles. They could start 11-for-11 against the Titans and still not catch up to the percentage of 31st-ranked Chicago.

The defense is giving up 415.3 yards per game, on pace to threaten the all-time NFL record for yards allowed in a season. The last two games have been real stinkers — a 37-25 loss to Detroit preceded the debacle against Philadelphia.

Re: LOL @ Redskins

any expectations of Superbowls or playoff are plain stupid, with a rebuild offensive line, with a WR corp so week, not one would be a starter on any other team.... Moss would be a slot, and a defensive so fliped around, that everyone is out of place...... Carter goes from 11 sacks to benched....... Really? So, I suggest that we get ready to be back in the lottery, making trades and upgrading our D.......
