As evident by the hacking I would have to say no, I don't think they maintain better security protocols. Off course it all depends who they hired to manage their IT department. Knowing how Palin operates I would not be supprised if one of her high school friends got the head IT department job because they love "browsing the web."

BTW I don't see how your question is relevant or supportive of your position.
Just an aside. I'd assume that she was "hacked" by either being a typical sloppy pc user or someone with access to accounts at yahoo gave her up. Regardless, my point is that I couldn't less if she's conducting business using her sexchick69@looseskanks.com so long as her policies are sound and she is actually a "reformer." Those two last points are VERY much up in the air. My concern is that we make mountains out of molehills and ignore actual issues. To me, this is a joke of an issue. It's equivalent to bitching because someone wears jeans to work. It's the work that matters, not the superficial stuff...

This isn't the answer you want, but I wouldn't vote for either of these two candidates. Both policies are detrimental to the economy.

'A' sounds like a democrat, and 'B' sounds like a republican -- that's why I vote third party.
Foresight in general yes, but more acutely in his area(s) of expertise, much more so. But I don't expect the President to necessarily be an economic guru. My gut reaction to hearing about the bail out was "No effing way, not another one." But, after thinking about the ripple effect such a massive failure would have on the economy, you realize that despite your philosophical objections there really isn't another option. I mean, I watch Man Vs Wild all the time. The guy drinks his own urine in order to survive, but that doesn't mean that he can't bitch about the taste it leaves in his mouth.

That said, I understand McCain's initial reaction because I shared it. I would assume that one of his many advisers briefed him and gave him additional perspective therefore he changed his mind. The principles of "small government" do not condone buying up companies in the manner which we have recently seen. Any person that would be all about backing these big corporations with taxpayer money and not at least voice some apprehension would worry me. Again, nothing I'm saying is an attack on Obama, more of a general defense that no one person is going to automatically know the correct course of action. The willingness to listen and then have an informed opinion is of great benefit and one of the primary qualities I look for in a leader.

And regarding Hooskin's comment about "flip flopping," I thought that was the most ridiculous criticism made during the last election and I have not changed that opinion. The term literally gives me a migraine every time I hear/read it. I see nothing wrong with someone becoming more educated on a subject and changing their mind. I have a real hard time with someone so dedicated to dogma that they refuse to see the forest for the trees.
That, and let's not act as if they are now OWNED by the government. They are going to have to pay the interest on this loan in order to say in business. Granted, the U.S. government had to either grant them a loan to buy them time and get it turned around, or let them file for bankruptcy, but it's not as if the U.S. government is now running the day to day operations of AIG.

Because that would be a total disaster.

I think I am a "Law and Order" kind of guy, but I think this story is a non-story. If Obama used his government computer to send a personal e-mail, I wouldn't scream "misappropriation of government resources!" In other words.....there's nothing to see here folks, move along.

Why is it that we've reached the point where people jump at the tiniest opening to attack their opponent. "He lied about a BJ!" "She used her yahoo account instead of her alaska.gov account to send an e-mail!" "He said lipstick!" I call BS on all of that phony BS outrage.

But SGG, emails exist from the governor's team advising Palin employees to use personal emails so as to avoid the potential for subpoena. This was always about subverting the rule of law and clouding transparency. You don't think this is behavior unbecoming of an elected executive? After the secrecy of the last 8 years you don't think this is kind of a big deal?

That is very different. If Palin directed her employees to use personal e-mails to cover up some impropriety, that is a serious problem. I didn't read the entire thread; I only came across e-mails saying she used her personal email account in corresponding about government business. I didn't hear anything in the press about the story either.

This isn't about using goverment computers for conducting personal business, it's conducting goverment business via non-goverment communication line which is a problem whether it's Obama, Palin, McCain, or Biden.

Per the recent Times expose:

While Ms. Palin took office promising a more open government, her administration has battled to keep information secret. Her inner circle discussed the benefit of using private e-mail addresses. An assistant told her it appeared that such e-mail messages sent to a private address on a “personal device” like a BlackBerry “would be confidential and not subject to subpoena.”

Ms. Palin and aides use their private e-mail addresses for state business. A campaign spokesman said the governor copied e-mail messages to her state account “when there was significant state business.”

On Feb. 7, Frank Bailey, a high-level aide, wrote to Ms. Palin’s state e-mail address to discuss appointments. Another aide fired back: “Frank, this is not the governor’s personal account.”

Mr. Bailey responded: “Whoops~!”

Mr. Bailey, a former midlevel manager at Alaska Airlines who worked on Ms. Palin’s campaign, has been placed on paid leave; he has emerged as a central figure in the trooper investigation.

Let me explain something to you. When people criticize the Times for being biased, as they often do, what they mean is this: that the times fails to hold the same critical lens up to liberal politicians that it does to conservatives. While I have questioned this in the past I won't dispute that this is probably the case this election. There have been more critical stories about McCain recently than Obama. However, what critics don't say is that the Times makes things up, that they cook stories, meaning that you can't just say a times article is biased and ignore it (Jason Blaire notwithstanding, although that was certainly not a political issue).

The Wall St. Journal is the same on the right. While the editorial page leans right and the articles reflect a certain framework, a thinking person would never dismiss a WSJ article outright just because they favor conservative governance. Not without pointing out specifically what was factually inaccurate in the text. To do so would be stupid, sloppy reasoning. For the record, liberal as I am, I love the WSJ.

Anyway, is there a specific point of contention you have or do you just not read whatever papers Rush tells you not to read? Explain your position vis-a-vis the article and the use of private emails to conduct government business. How is bias clouding the conclusions of the author?

Also, here's a post article talking about the same issue - specifically the governor's failure to comply with a Freedom of Information Act request for emails related to government business. I did notice they showed the on in the ocean leaning over but they did not show any oil leaking out but thats what they want you to think. The son of state Rep. Mike Kernell has been contacted by authorities in connection with a probe into the hacking of the personal e-mail of vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, Kernell confirmed on Thursday.

Kernell, a Memphis Democrat, said his 20-year-old son David had been contacted by authorities investigating the hacking of Palin’s personal email account.

The FBI and the Secret Service started a formal investigation on Wednesday into the hacking.

David Kernell is a student at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Mike Kernell said he spoke to his son on Thursday, as he does on a regular basis.

Kernell otherwise declined to comment, or discuss his son’s whereabouts and whether he was in custody.

I am not a proponent of wholesale drilling in the Gulf. However, you will find the oil, and gas rigs to be on everybody's shortlist (including the professional fishing guides) of most productive fishing area's.
It should be noted that for preventatitve measures, it is good practice to avoid fishing in an oil spill. It makes specie identification difficult, and the fish are WAY to hard to handle with all the "Quaker State" on them

This last link talks about looking out and seeing oil rigs and the shrimping and fishing boats (about third paragraph) so if you eat seafood good chance that fish or shrimp came from the gulf coast and caught around oil rigs.

To answer you question I myself have never fished in the gulf coast but I have had several friends go and fish the oil rigs. They brought home a bunch and it was very good.

elitist: someone who believes in rule by an elite group

elitism:
1. The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources.
2. a. The sense of entitlement enjoyed by such a group or class.b. Control, rule, or domination by such a group or class.

Would you have called Thomas Jefferson an elitist? How about Alexander Hamilton or James Madison?

Using the definitions you provided, would you prefer to be ruled by an elite group, or by incompetant buffoons?

I know we're splitting hairs, but there is a key difference in the definitions. elite is simply a description of a person or group.

The problem I have with Elitism is: The belief that certain persons or members of certain classes or groups deserve favored treatment by virtue of their perceived superiority, as in intellect, social status, or financial resources.
2. a. The sense of entitlement enjoyed by such a group or class.b. Control, rule, or domination by such a group or class.

Well Saturday night we ate some of those oil infested fish. We battered them up and dunked them in 375 degrees oil and they were mighty tasty.

His own voting record stands for itself and he votes very liberal. Whats any different in pointing that out and Obama pointing out McCains voting record with GB? Seems to me as one in the same.

Maybe Palin shouldn't be the only one that shouldn't be taking questions?

Don't you find it a bit curious that whoever the democratic nominee turns out to be, that he or she is always "the most liberal" candidate as rated by some institute or think tank? How is it that this particular label always coincides with the presidential election and conveniently changes no matter who it is? If Hillary had won, don't you think everyone on the Republican side would say the very same about her?

I understand the distinction you're trying to make, but couldn't it be said that the Bush family ranks right up there with the very group you have such a problem with? How about McCain? His father and grandfather were both Navy Admirals. He married into wealth, and has spent nearly 30 years in Washington. You don't think he perceives himself of a higher social status than the rest of us peons?

I'm not a fan of Obama, but doesn't he strike you as just the opposite of the "elitists" -- coming from relative obscurity in a middle class family, and only recently achieving any sort of status by being elected to the Senate? What about Bill Clinton? Come on -- he came from the lower class backwoods in Arkansas for crying out loud. Would you classify either of these people as "elitists" ??

The last republicans who came from similar roots would be Reagan and Nixon. But since then, they've been charter members of the "country club elite".
