FYI, I don't agree with the regression part, just the concerned about the offense not punching it in.

Re: Redskins vs. Lions Gameday thread
So are we talking about JC regressing or the offense? You're starting to blur one discussion into another.
Either way I don't see it. This has been the story of this season, the Skins pile up the yards and dominate in most statistical categories, but they don't pile up the points. What has changed exactly? |

[/quote] Well, we already beat Dallas with a healthy Romo and backfield in their house, and scored more than one TD in the process. We also beat Philly in their house and scored more than one TD. Yeah, we haven't won pretty. But to get after JC for his performance yesterday is super nit picky. His fumbles were due to awful pass blocking by Heyer, and aside from that he was amazing. How can you harp on a few incompletions when he was 23-28? Does he have to be perfect? And your earlier comment about Jansen's penalties- the 15 yard facemask he was called for was awful. He barely grazed the dude's facemask. If the 5 yard variety still existed he still shouldn't have been flagged. |

Re: Redskins vs. Lions Gameday thread
He had one, ONE, bad throw all game. He didn't miss "wide open receivers" at any point. At all. In any way. None. That doesn't make sense. What game were you watching?
As far as throwing it away. When should this have happened? Maybe next game before the play he'll work it out with the o-line when exactly they are going to crap the bed and let him get bull-rushed at 100mph. That way he can just take the snap and throw the ball into the stands immediately. |

I have no problem admitting I'm wrong, I've done it plenty of times here if you've paid any attention.
If your beef isn't only with Campbell then say so. Say what you mean for crying out loud. I'm not the only one here "misinterpreting" what you're saying. Again I'll point out you said you had concerns with the offense, and then you went on to single out Campbell. If you have concerns about the offense fine, but let's hear a little more than just gripes about Campbell. It just sounds petty when he's coming off such a good performance. |
Re: Redskins vs. Lions Gameday thread
I agree the offense should score more, but I don't think any of that blame should fall on JC's shoulders from yesterday's game. His fumbles were due to backside pressure from Heyer's crap blocking, the penalties were not committed by JC, he completed an absurd 82% of his passes, and was once again INT free.
Yes, we need more points - see my user title. No, Jason is not regressing. |

Re: Redskins vs. Lions Gameday thread
For me it is very hard to judge how good the Skins really are. Yes they did beat Dallas, but at the time I think Dallas was reading all the headlines and was full of themselves and were prime for a loss. And look at what has happened to them since. Philly had Westbrook get injured and without him they are a very average team. The past 3 games I don't think we played well at all. If Anderson wasn't playing so bad, Cleveland could have easily beat us. And Detroit also could have won. If we are as good as some people believe, we should have blown out at least one of these teams which we didn't.
Hopefully we also have had a letdown and not taking the past 3 games that serious since they were considered the easy part of the schedule. But if that is not the case, then I think the second half of the season we have a very tough schedule and it could be a long season. |

Crazy fact. Gus Frerotte is the only QB the Lions have faced this year who didn't set his career high passer rating against them this season.

Look around the league. The very best guys make mistakes. Whether it's holding the ball too long, throwing an INT or fumbleling, every single QB will make a mistake. These guys are not machines. The key is if you can have a guy who makes more plays than mistakes. Tony Romo turns the ball over every single game he plays in. But his playmaking makes up for his mistakes. Get it?? Look at the close games we've won. If JC was throwing INT's we lose a game here or there. To have no INT's through 8 games is un heard of at any level of football. But at the pro level it's just shocking. So if you really understood football, you'd realize your comments make no sense. JC is making a lot more plays than he is making turnovers. Look at the 3rd and 20 something he converts at the end of the half. Just drilled a great ball to Thrash. That drive got us 3 points. Or the TD pass he threw to Moss where he side steped an unblocked blitzer, re set his feet and hit Moss on a perfect pass. If you looked at the positives instead of one or two neagatives, you'd get the total picture. But for some reason you can't do that. |
Re: Redskins vs. Lions Gameday thread
Ok, let's see if we can calm the waters here.
Hess, let's not kid ourselves you have been very critical of both Campbell and Rogers for a while now. I've seen though that you're coming around on Rogers. I don't see it yet with Campbell. I was frustrated too with the fumbles and the overall lack of discipline with the offense in key moments. But we don't win that game without Campbell yesterday. He made some huge throws, he commanded the respect of the defense allowing Portis to get some huge gains. And that's not a one game fluke. He's been doing this consistenly all season. So please specify for us what you saw, beyond the fumbles, that concern you. |

Re: Redskins vs. Lions Gameday thread
hesscl34 you should stop digging and chill.
I think what everyone is concerned about is this team not punching the ball in and beating on a team like the Lions with vengeance. The only regression I saw was is in the penalty department. That killed this team in the first half. As for JC missing wide open receivers that's possible even with his 82% completion day. It is also possible the ball wasn't intended for those wide open receivers. All in all this team needs to play better, I want a SB trophy not a playoff appearance. They played good but definitely not great vs the Lions. |
