Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
I don't see where we have the personnel for a switch to the 3-4 right off the bat.

Not if we keep Orakpo where he's most valuable, on the D-line. |

Yeah no doubt Rak needs to be on the line full time. Maybe put on a little more weight and he'll be fine. |
Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
Rak and Jarmon in rotation on one side, Carter on the other and Merriman at the olb sounds good to me. It was interesting to see Shawne interview on comcast postgame.

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
Does Merriman have much left?
|
Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
^ Not enough to merit trading Cooley for him.
|
Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
^ who said anything about trading Cooley? He will be a RFA in a uncapped year and very well may be cut. It takes two years to get over a knee injury, like jermiah Trotter. Also Olshansky was the space eater for Merriman he is now in Dallas. If he came here he will be with the likes of Carter, Rak and Haynesworth. You can't double team evey body.

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
Latest report is Redskins will have a press conference on Thursday (that could change of course)
Thursday would be interesting because Thursday is January 7...and well we all know what happened on January 7, 2004 |

Actually if you want to talk about juice then you have to understand that thats the one thing Merriman doesn't have left. He hasn't been the same player since getting caught for using steroids. Right now he's the football equivalent of Sammy Sosa. |

His skin changed colors? |

That will come with time. For now his big number (sacks) is starting to take a nosedive. 17 in 2007 with a 4 game suspension and 4 in 2008 with a full 16 game season. Maybe he's still reeling from the ACL injury but that seems like to much of a dropoff. |

Adam Schefer - Shanny not a done deal. on ESPNEWS
|
Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
This is a roller coaster, just like in the past.

Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
perhaps shanny wasn't on the plane after all.

Same guy who said the Redskins and Chiefs would decide draft position by a coin toss? Sorry I'm not listening to Schefter for the next few days. He's off his game. Of course if he's right then it would be because the final contract hasn't been drafted. Also found this to be pretty interesting off of Schefter's twitter page.
RT @MarkMaske Jim Zorn's record over two seasons with Redskins: 12-20. Steve Spurrier's record over two seasons with Redskins: 12-20. about 5 hours ago from web
|

Really! hum I remember them saying the same about Julius Pepper's, he had a down year, and then came back strong, it almost takes two full years to recover from a knee injury, now if we can get him for a decent deal... I am all for it. |
Re: Report: Shanahan to DC done deal
I'm listening to the Lavar show and some guy from the station was at Dulles and actually saw Shanahan and his wife get off the plane and into a limo. They're not messing around. lol.

Julius Peppers didn't get caught using steroids. Plus even if we did bring in Merriman, where do we put him? Do you want to go through another ill advised Orakpo experiment? Maybe we put him at RE and take Orakpo from his best position. Or we could put Merriman at LE and relive the Jason Taylor experiment. Even if did regain his beast form it is still likely that he wouldn't fit in here. |

Considering that a non stop flight from Denver to DC takes an average of 3 hours and 15 min I would say that it is feesable if the flight departed at roughly 11AM. |

I know this is sacrilege but right now if I had to bet on a team to win the Super Bowl I would feel comfortable putting my money on Dallas. |
