Lots of injuries the last 3 years. Not great before that... would likely be battling Barnes for PT.

Hey, Fletch had 2.5 sacks last year alone. 2.5 sacks in 6 years suggest he rushes the passer once in a blue moon. Either way I'm not a fan of Crowder. Like has been mentioned, he talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk. |
He's a middle linebacker... why would you expect high sack numbers? He's a run stuffer.
I don't necessarily expect high numbers, and he's definitely not a run stuffer. I was just trying to illustrate the fact that he doesn't make big plays. He hasn't missed many games, and he's got 1 INT, 3 FF, 2.5 sacks in six years?!?! Most of them as a starter. Kevin Burnett, the guy Miami signed to replace him, has nearly outperformed Channing Crowder's career totals in just one season: 6 sacks, 2 FF, and 2 INT. Trust me. I'm a UF alum from South Florida. I've seen way too much Channing Crowder sucking it up in my lifetime. Don't want him any where near our sidelines. |

I wonder what's going on with Chris Wilson

They are firing up Redskins1 to track him down and sign him.

I didn't realize that Wilson was not under contract. Any news on the Rocky front? Has he signed elsewhere are we going to talk to him at all?

I'd rather we get guys that fit Shanny's system as depth for the o-line. Heyer is a bigger, slower guy, not as big and slow as Dockery was but definitely not as small and agile as Montgomery is. If we don't sign anyone else for depth on the o-line I'd be okay if Heyer came back to backup at guard, but we all know he's plateau'd talent wise and we know what we're getting with him. |

Rocky was an okay outside linebacker in the 4-3, but we need to face it, he's not suited to be an ILB in a 3-4. I doubt the FO brings him back. |

Yeah. There is no immediate hurry because.... 1- This gives Beck and the Rookie QB more playing/learning time.(snaps) 2- Grossman already knows the offense. 3- Technically all the FA's can't participate on the field or in the weight room until Thursday. So, whats the incentive to come in early? so he can stand on the side line and sweat for 2hrs? They keep saying he'll be back, I don't think other teams are beating down his door, and I'm sure he's just playing it smart.... show up late Wed. and sign the contract so he can be on the field Thursday. No big deal. I'm sure some of the panic is Beck throwing interceptions and not hitting the long ball all that well.... keep in mind other teams are going through the same problems until they all can get back into a groove together again. |

Sidney Rice signed with the Seahawks last Wednesday? What the heck man. I'm on top of nothing.

Not looking forward to a long season of struggles but i mean we have to be realistic. We are 1 or 2 injuries away from being swept by every team in the NFC Conference.

I like that you think we need to be realistic, but at the same time, we are 1 or 2 injuries away from being swept by every team in the NFC? Now I'm no Kool-Aid sipper, but come on. That just makes you sound like you're in the doom and gloom club. Every team deals with injuries. That's why we need to have good depth. This team has addressed that through the draft and free agency. One thing all these position battles have the advantage of bringing is the fact that the best guys for the jobs will win the jobs. |

That is 100 % correct because even if every single player on this team stays healthy we are no better than a 4-12 - 5-11 team. We all know thats impossible , but yes absolutely we are the bottom feeders of the NFC as we speak. |

Sorry, this is just a ridiculous statement. While there's a lot of "knowns" on this team there are also a lot of unknowns and how those variables come together will greatly affect how we finish. We've gotten younger, gotten rid of divas and distractions. Our QB position is suspect but our O-line has had a year in Shanny ZB system and has some young guys, we've added defensive pieces to fit the 3-4 defensive scheme we play, and gotten younger across the board. In doing so, we have added a lot of pieces that have yet to be given their chance to start and play together. Their are so many unknowns on this team that we could be anywhere from 4-12 to 10-6. Are we super bowl bound? Almost certainly not, but stranger things have happened. Certainly, if the young guys step up, we could be a vastly improved team. We have a creampuff schedule (relatively speaking) and have a lot of young, hungry guys - many teams have had success with that formula. If they have sufficient talent - which we just don't know yet - we could have a decent run. It's a different way of building a team. Essentially, this is year two of what looks to be at 4-5 year plan. The roster is being cleared out and guys who will play the Shanahan way are coming in. You want "sign guys to win now"? A pox on you! It has been soooo successful for us in the past. Given the roster turnover and all the variables involved - Right now, claims that we are doomed are almost as foolish as claims we are going to the Super Bowl. |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
We are definitely not going to win 6 or more games this year you can cut that out. Our roster is cluttered with over paid scrubs!! They only wanted money and thats why we have them. As for the rest they were either unlucky to be drafted by us, or are so injury prone no one else wants them.
Im dreading the first game we play but by december we will be getting spanked on a regular basis & a whole year will be wasted on not developing a young QB. |

That's ridiculous. We aren't elite, but we aren't the carolina panthers either. I expect we will be a middle of the pack team, but one that plays every game tough. (something we haven't seen a lot of this last decade). We will probably end up 7-9 to 9-7 depending on how some bounces go. |

No offense to Rex, but he doesn't have any other options really. Who else is going to put him as the starter? Nobody. Hell, he's not even guaranteed to start here, he has to compete for the job. |

Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
My man if hayden was that good a team as bad as the colts secondary wouldn't let him walk
It was more of a salary issue. He's one of the top available CBs now, but was under contract for over $6 million this year and has had some injuries. The Colts decided to go cheaper with less injury risk. They have decent CBs left with Jarraud Powers, Jacob Lacey and Justin Tryon. I'd be willing to take the risk on him for the Skins. He'd probably play behind Wilson and could allow Barnes to be a backup FS instead of CB. If Landry can't start the season, Horton is likely next on the depth chart. OJ Atogwe could shift to SS and let Barnes play at FS...which I think would be better than a starting duo of Horton and Atogwe. |

I'd take Kelvin Hayden over Buchanon any day of the week.

Now that Buchannon is suspended 4 games, Hayden seems more likely to sign.
This. While I am no great Heyer fan, we need tackle depth. News from camp is that Capers is struggling. Gaither is gone and Harris may not want to be a backup. I also really liked Xavier Fulton in the 2009 draft, and think he could be in line for a spot here.
There are, I think, two spots available for players who didn't make the team last year at the OL position (not including Chester), but potentially a third since Artis Hicks is hardly a lock to be back. So plenty of opportunity to bring in youth. |
