well when you throw 2 high picks and 2 big FA signings into the front 7, they dm well better improve! especially when 2 others are pro bowlers.

honestly, i'm hoping our 7th round NT turns out to be a gem, cause having 2 good NTs to rotate would be amazing late in games.

On Leonard Hankerson:

"He has significant upside as a long strider who can stretch the field and use
his quality size (6-foot-2) on shorter routes, but the frequency at which he drops passes is a bit stunning"

I was really hoping Hank would start opposite Santana. I don't remember him having a problem with drops at the U but I guess he did. I remember him making big catches when everyone knew the ball was going to him. He looked like a great physical receiver. Hopefully, he puts some more time in catching footballs off the machine.

I was also unaware of his drops problem until I saw that he was working with Mark Duper in the off-season to try to combat this problem. Lets hope he gets over this (would not be the first WR to have this problem early in his career/college and then fix it) and goes on to have a productive career for us!

They've been training together since 2009. They used to be neighbors. I think he needs to go to Fitzgerald camp. He seems like a hard worker. I hope the drops become less frequent, so the coaches will trust him.

Yeah i am most excited to see how the new additions on the D work out. Last year we knew entering the season we didnt have the right peices and it showed.

I dont expect the D to be top 5, but hopefully with the pieces we added and another offseason to add more pieces next offseason . . we can get back to being a top 10 D.

On the offense, i get the feeling this year we will see pretty much the same as last year. Maybe hopefully a lil better but i dont have much hope for a significant increase on the O as I do the D.

This sucks- Looks like Cooley is going to miss "at least a few more weeks...."

So this essentially ends his preseason, or at best maybe he gets some action in the last game. Fred Davis is going to have a real shot to show out as TE 1.

Cooley is the kind of player whose versatility will fit in nicely to an already established offense, like the one he will be returning to.

Didn't feel like making another thread about this, but...

Blast from the past.. Kelly and Thomas will forever be linked at the hip. Both could never stay on the field healthy. At least they got paid millions of dollars to stay on IR and warm up the bench..
Coughlin on D. Thomas: 'It'll be a while' - Giants Blog - ESPN New York

As far as Devin Thomas and his dislocated finger are concerned, head coach Tom Coughlin says, “It’ll be a while.”

“It’s a bad spot for a receiver,” Coughlin said of the injury, in which the bone broke the skin.

For Thomas to return, the training staff has to confident there will be no infection.

“I’m sure it will be until the time when they feel like he’s not going to gain some kind of infection because of the taping, untaping, showering, all that,” Coughlin said. “So, let’s face it, it’s a bad spot for a receiver because there are an awful lot of things that Devin could be doing out there other than that. It’ll be a while, it’ll be a while.”

Thomas had been a candidate for the No. 3 wide receiver spot, but with him not being able to compete for that spot in training camp, that appears in jeopardy. Thomas had also been hampered by an ankle injury during camp as well.

Is it possible that MS and KS have been touting Beck all offseason to light a fire under Rex and get him to work harder in the hopes that he will prove to be a better QB?

Actually, Thomas was healthy for most of his tenure here. It was more due to his "rawness" that he never saw the fielded.

Sounds like genius coaching to me.....and does anyone else wonder more and more every day why Malcolm Kelly is still occupying a roster spot on our team? I am tired of waiting. Lets get someone in there who can contribute in our practices. Kelly will probably be cut and be in on a handful of plays during our workouts and preseason games. Why not get a guy in there that can contribute and be a "sleeper" starter (no names come to mind. Im sure someone will think of several) that will probably be cut anyway, but we can get some benefit from having?

I suspect they're working on an injury settlement with Kelly...but I'm just guessing

As for Rex, yes I believe a big part of touting Beck was a negotiating/motivating ploy toward Rex.

What I find curious is that Grossman turned down a longer term deal (I forget if it was here or elsewhere) for a short term deal. To me, that tells me that Rex believes he's going to start this year and have the opportunity to prove he deserves a long term contract.

But I mean if Beck doesn't start, what does that mean for him? Seems like this year is kind of make or break for his career, particularly as a starter.

It could possibly say something about Grossman's character. Perhaps he is making personal goals and beleives this is his last chance to make it in this league. And I think if Beck has a solid preseason it will be nice to know we have a decent backup. Plus, does Beck have a cult yet? Maybe he will get one of those too.

I did not see Lorenzo Alexander play one snap against the Steelers. I can believe tht no one has mentioned it. I would gues that may mean he is on the way out. Also, Reggie Jones played as the first second stringer. He replaced Hall in the first half and only gave up one pass. I would say that this could be a big deal if he can be a good corner for the Redskins.
