Why would we trade 2 very good young players away?? Especially a top 10 LT
Also why is it the Skins always get the worst end of every deal? Orakpo has played like a 1st round talent. Bradford has not. If any thing the Rams should be trying to sweeten the pot for us to want to make the trade. Why would we toss two players their way for Bradford who has played no better then a second rounder? TW I feel is still a little bit raw. I could see the Rams wanting him cause their LT I think retired. He still gets beat once and a while and he never should have used an illegal drug to begin with to get suspended. But again TW has played like a 1st round talent and Bradford has not. I would make this trade but the Rams wouldn't and that to trade Orakpo, TW, and Fletcher to the Rams for their #2 pick in the draft. That way we can get QB and WR in the 1st round. But they want RGIII so no way would they trade away their #2 pick. |

My sentiments exactly. I like Rak, he's solid and productive...but not elite. I would trade him for a franchise QB in a heartbeat. |

Re: The Big Rumor: If The Colts Take Luck, Then Manning Could Be...
the Skins, according to Hogs Haven, are showing significant interest in LT Mike Adams (potential first rounder). It makes you wonder if this factors into the scenario that SS and SC have been referencing. Could we be trading both Rak and TW for Bradford or the 2nd overall pick and keeping our 1.6 pick? It's interesting if this would factor into it...
Who knows, though. The Skins could be just looking at contingency plans. |

There are pretty strong indications that if they stay at 6 they're going OL. I've heard Martin (and a bit of Reiff), not so much Adams. But it's still soooo sooo early |
Re: The Big Rumor: If The Colts Take Luck, Then Manning Could Be...
isnt this all really premature? i mean, trades cant happen until march anyways, right? sure, there could be a "gentlemans agreement" on a deal now, but anything like that would almost certainly change or fall appart in two months.

Lets be honest, there will be very little tangible and concrete breaking news for the foreseeable future (e.g. from now to the days leading up to Free Agency). Rumor and hearsay are basically all we are clinging onto right now... |

Manning needs to STFU and ask for his release. Go out in control and hopefully finish on top.

I don't agree with you at all on this point. First of all, there is a $28M bonus at stake for Peyton Manning. Now, I don't think that Irsay will pay that bonus because the Colts are obviously going to rebuild with either Luck or RGIII, but there may be a slim chance that PM will get the $28M. Secondly, Irsay doesn't want PM to comment because he (Irsay) wants to control the message to the Colts fans about why he is about to let PM walk. He wants to come across as a concerned friend who doesn't want Peyton to suffer a disabling injury, so he'll save Peyton from himself by advising Peyton to retire and then not pay PM the $28M bonus. What a crock! Here's an idea: if Irsay is so concerned about PM, then he can offer PM $10M to retire now as a Colt. Peyton, no doubt, doesn't want any potential future employer to get the idea that he won't be able to recover fully from his injury. If enough GM's got that idea in their heads, it would be detrimental to PM's negotiating position as a FA. |

Re: The Big Rumor: If The Colts Take Luck, Then Manning Could Be...
Very interesting interview:
Washington Redskins: Kyle Shanahan Very Vocal about Offensive Needs | Washington Redskins KS said this:
“Everybody wants a franchise Quarterback… unfortunately there’s only about 10 of them on the planet. So people make a lot of mistakes trying to trade their draft away or pay a lot of money to people who really aren’t that. You have to really evaluate, you have to make sure you get the best guy possible. Everybody wants one of those 10 guys, but you don’t just go get one of those guys when they’re not available.”
From the interview...
Kyle went on to say, “When we do go pay a guy or go draft a guy, you can’t get so enamored with, hey we need a quarterback lets go get it. We need a lot of positions. Gotta add some ballers.” Again, sounds like he’s down playing any thoughts about trading up for a QB.
To me it doesn't sound like he's inclined to trade up and throw away draft picks to get RGIII. It also doesn't sound like he's too interested in Flynn either. Since this thread was started about P.Manning....
Here’s the part I found really interesting, when asked about Peyton Manning, “Just make sure he’s healthy. Everyone knows he’s one, if not the best Quarterback ever in football. Just hope his neck is alright, and he’ll be Peyton Manning. Hopefully, he’s healthy. If the doctor says he’s healthy, and he’s healthy, then that’s enough for me.” If the doctor says he’s healthy, and he says he’s healthy, then that’s enough for me… Interesting thing about that is, Kyle was asked a general question about Peyton Manning. He gushed all over the idea of Peyton Manning being on the open market, and cleared medically.
|
Re: The Big Rumor: If The Colts Take Luck, Then Manning Could Be...
I also found this to be interesting from the Rams message boards....
St. Louis Rams | Message Boards
If "I" were the Redskins, I would try and think of ways to take "RG III" away from the Cleveland Browns! I personally feel the Browns need to address their GAPING HOLE at the RB position, But that's just me. But when I thought of this today, it just really makes sense for both teams. I would give the # 2. Pick and OLB: "Chris Chamberlain" (74-Tkl. 2-Sacks) to the Redskins for the # 6. Pick and OLB: "Brian Orakpo!" "Orakpo" is only due to make $3.8M in 2012, so he wont hurt us terribly in Cap space, and he provides the Blitz punch "Gregg Williams requires for that aggressive and risky defense he runs. Remember, either Iowa's "Riley Reiff" or Stanford's "Jonathan Martin" will be staring at you when the 6th Pick comes around for the Rams at LT. And Washington NEEDS "RG III" in a very bad way, and if the Rams were smart, they'd start finding CREATIVE ways to fill important positions on Defense without relying on rookie draft picks to save the 2012 campaign.
Now, what if.... the Skins are interested in this trade? But it's not for RGIII? What if the Skins are trying to move up in order to pick up Blackmon (WR) at #2 so they can pick up Weeden in round 2 as a one two punch similar to what Cinci did this last year? I could even see the team trying to move up into the back end of the 1st round just to pick up Weeden. I know there was some grumbling about Orakpo being traded. He's good but not great in the 3-4. He had trouble covering some TE's. Maybe the team is happy with how someone else performed when on the field. Maybe they think they can find another player to replace Orakpo relatively easy and with Jarvis Jenkins on the DL next year it might not matter(how good the OLB really is). Rams get a decent 4-3 DE and have the #6 pick to get a LT to replace theirs that retired. |
If we trade up to get a reciever I'll be pissed
All I'm saying is I could see it. If they are interested in Weeden then why not go out and grab his WR he has worked with in college and whom he is on the same page with already. Here's another nice article about our WR situation, and it makes sense in referense to who will probably stay and who should probably go... Washington Redskins: Extreme Makeover for the Wide Receiver Position? | Washington Redskins All I'm suggesting is if the coaching staff is happy with Weeden and his abilities and think he will work out fine and he's not 1st round talent then why not pick up a WR in the 1st round? maybe even one that he knows and feels comfortable with. Then throw in Hankerson in the mix and Gaffney. Then I wouldn't have a problem if the team went out and picked up Eddie Royal (26), whom MS drafted when he was the HC there(Denver). Eddie would probably be estatic to get back to an offense that made him look good. |

Oh I'm with you. I'd be happy with Weeden being our starter, but I'd hope the team would look for another QB maybe mid draft or late draft. Plus another as a UFDA just for camp fodder or to take over the PS spot from Crompton. |

I'm begining to think this way, over the next few months my opinions will be going from one player to another but I could warm up to Weeden, he allows us to trade back pick up more picks and still get him later in the draft. Possibly our 2nd round pick (38 I beleive). |

I gotta agree. If anything we should move up to get one of the 2 QBs or trade our 1st for Bradford. If that doesnt happen, if Clairbourne, Kalil or Blackmon isnt there at our pick, we need to trade back. The only move up should be for a QB |
