So does everyone agree that when free agency begins and say we pick up either manning if hes cut, or flynn, or hoyer that we we will not try and trade up for RG3 and only take him if he falls to 6 or do you think we would try and do both?

P.S. that sucks, i like Jaws in the booth

wow smoot thats big/great news about jaws.

We need more of those kinds of posts and less of us just guessing and assuming about who our QB is. Every day feels like groundhog day when I come on here.

i have no idea what kind of contract flynn is going to command. if the redskins signed him for less than $7M/year and rg3 fell to us at 6, i'd be happy to have both. that will not happen

Same. the only way I think we would do both is if RG3 fell to 6 and we had already picked a QB up in FA. I have a feeling he could possibly fall to us, im not so sure anyone is willing to trade up at such a high price and im not so sure the browns are sold on him at 4. But until then i guess i will hope we dont sign a big qb FA i just want rg3

Ok, so.... where are we after we draft RGIII and he turns out to be no better then Grossman? makes wrong reads, makes bad throws, makes bad decisions and we win no more games then we did last yr or do worse?

I don't agree, because I've been saying it all along. Yes "if" PM was healthy then I'd side with you on this issue, but I seriously wonder how ready PM will be come season start. I think the team would evaluate him around April 25 to see if his progress is better or stagnant and then decide if they still should trade up or not. If PM was showing a lot of progress then I'd say they might skip RGIII and simply wait and see what is available at #6 to put around PM or Rookie or possibly trade back for more picks.

I'd take this and a bag of chips, but I don't see RGIII falling past the Browns. I think I'm the only one here who believes the Rams are probably looking at taking him and dishing Bradford.

I would say that RGIII is a much better pro prospect than Grossman was coming out of college. RGIII has potential/athletic ability far above and beyond anything Grossman ever showed. IMO

and I'm not at all argueing that. I'm just wondering why everyone simply expects RGIII to come out and play like Eli Manning when he has not even played against top tier NFL talent. I'm just wondering what plan B is if he comes out and plays like ... IDK, I'd say Vince Young but some of you are high on him as well for whatever reason. Lets just say he throws 2 INTs a game and makes bad decisions?

See, I'm planning for worse case scenario hoping for best case. I think some fans here or atleast it sounds like it see RGIII being the problem solver and there is no need for plan B. I'd rather not had given up 3-4 picks to get RGIII and he fail then to keep my draft picks and turn them into 3-4 picks with a plan A and a plan B in place.

you have to take a risk sometimes to get a reward, i see what your saying and that would be great if rg3 fell to 6 but idk if that will happen. I think its time we get our qb of the future and i think it could be him but thats just me, i really really dont want another year of sub par qb play. The only options I like is picking up manning if hes fully healthy and rg3, but both of these are risks, but what choice isnt you have to take a risk at some point and hope it pays off

I have said in numerous posts that I would rather have manning(healthy), a top flight WR, a back up QB and maybe a ILB (Te'o?) next year than Griffin this year(The three picks we would have to give up being those players). I just think it makes us a better team. However if we cant get that then I want Griffin. I am so tired of routing for a team with no real QB

So that's 4 times he's been cut on in under two years? I just don't think he's going to be able to play anymore with this type of injury that's preventing him for throwing the ball like he use to.

Peyton has earned the right to play this out however he sees fit, but I'd rather see him retire than come back and play as a shell of his former self and then basically be forced to hang it up for performance reasons.
Oh man, that's really tough to answer. Let's see. I'll base it on pies. With 5 being very likely

PM and developmental 2nd tier QB: 3 Pies

PM and pass on developmental: 1 Pie

RGIII by trading: 2 Pies to #2/ 3 Pies to #3/ 4 Pies to #4

RGIII 'cause he falls to us: 1 Pie

Orton and developmental: 1 Pie

Other journeyman QB and developmental: 4.5 Pies (depends on what you see as journeyman, but this is what I most likely see happening)

Other: As in stay the course? 1 Pie
But what kind of pie is it.

You gotta respect Manning's passion for the game and competitive will. Assuming he'd play here, if team doctors check him out and are satisfied, there's absolutely no shame in "taking the risk" on Peyton Manning in 2012.

Any team that picks up Manning has to be damn sure about his health and ability to play. I am sure that a lot of conflicting reports will surface between now and whenever Manning has to start meeting with team doctors as part of him being on the market.

Yeah one day after Irsay says that he'd love to have Manning back if he wants to work out the contract... Irsay is all over the place. He keeps saying he wants to keep the business in house, yet he can't keep his mouth shut to save his life.

Just watched a piece on ESPN about Irsay and apparently he and his father are recovering alcoholics. I loosely can quote him as saying, "Alcoholism is a disease that is 7 trillion and 0. A technical knockout every time." Maybe the stress of PM and the offseason turmoil was too much for him to handle and he's back on the bottle. Might explain his erratic behavior. Hate to see that be the case.

This reminds of what happened to Bill Ward, original drummer of Black Sabbath. They basically offered him a contract that was unsignable for the reunion tour. So publicly they can spin it as "Hey we offered him a contract, but he didn't sign."

I think Irasy is doing the same, to save face. Offer Peyton an unsignable contract. So to the public, he can spin that he wanted Peyton to stay, but Peyton wanted to leave.

and I think my problem is I don't know that RGIII is what we are looking for. I would love for everyone to be right. I'd love to be one of those teams that has a 500 year and goes out next year and gets the rest of what we need to make it to the play offs, but I have this major concern that we trade up and get him and he's a failure in our system. (for you system guys). Has trouble with his footwork, has trouble reading the defenses in front of him, so on and so forth. Then we are in a situation having spent 3-4 draft picks, down 3-4 quality players and even more if those picks were doubled, and yes most likely MS's coaching would be over here. Consistancy gone.

I feel like it's a trap. However if he brings in someone like a Flynn or Hoyer, drafts a 2nd tier QB, picks up a WR or 2 in FA, and drafts a WR, hopefully trading back like last year to create more opportunities to get something right he has a better opportunity to capitalize on his return.

1- a young FA QB
2- a young drafted QB
that alone is 2 more chances to get something right.

3- 2 FA WR's
4- 1 drafted WR
that alone gives us 3 chances to get decent production.

and if they took another QB late in the draft with some OL, and a FS the team should better off along with the fact they would have a full compliment of picks the following year to again get more talent on this team.

talked about on the radio, basically the surgery would probably need to be done after his career is over or atleast what the discussion is on the radio. Not another surgery before he can play again.

the big news though is that he had 4 surgeries vs. what everyone thought was only 3. He kept one secret but again on the readio their saying most likely this is something most teams knew about but the fans wouldn't have knowledge of.

I would not like the scenario, because it could dictate on draft day if we make a big REACH for our QB (ie grabbing Tanneheel with the 6th pick because all of the viable FA options are gone.....)

note...... That is, unless, they roll the dice with Grossman again this upcoming season, and then i slit my wrists and die.

This article simply points out exactly what another article actually mentioned and that was RGIII has great long ball accuracy. Timing is great on his deep ball also. Basically put he can throw the deep ball and he can throw the short ball but he has trouble with the intermediate routes which might be the only thing open with the 3-4 zone defenses.

Those that are not ready to leave the game but have to coach. With his knowledge right now he'd be better served retiring and getting picked up as a QB coach assistant to which he can pass on all his knowledge about the QB position and the offensive scheme he was apart of for so many years. Which is why I was hoping we would go get him.

Re: Peyton Manning or RGIII your choice

To be fair to Irsay, he is in a tough spot which I don't envy. If Manning walks then Irsay is the bad man who chased the greatest Colt in history out of town. If he keeps Manning then he's out $28 million for a QB who may not be durable and who may stand in the way of a reloaded future. Irsay is kind of damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't.
