This must mean our young guys are getting every chance due them to step it up and grab a starters spot. Lets hope at least one of them is up for the challenge. It wouldn't sting as bad as Kelly/Thomas if they were both busts, but it seems safeties are alot more rare to find than WRs. Lets hope one of em starts to make a starters type contribution. It would save us alot of money as well as yards in the short term at least! |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
Just terrible. Bottom line terrible.

Word is that BM, lol, has already signed with the skins, details forthcoming.

I think Phillip Thomas does win out on that job and becomes a very solid player for us. |

I still have high hopes for Phillip Thomas as our eventual starter at SS. Actually, I'm fine with signing Meriweather. I like hard hitters. |

Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
The Giants have done a fair bit to address one of their glaring weaknesses by signing Thurmond and Rogers-Cromartie (and Demps). They had secondary, O-line, and RB to worry about, but there's no question they have improved the defensive backfield. I am hoping we still make some strides in that area, as well as our O-line.

Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
Is Thomas going to be ready to start?
a) he is still a rookie in terms of game experience b) a Lisfranc injury like his takes a LONG time to heal - just ask Joe Red. Will he be healthy at the start of the season? |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
I think Kenny Britt would be a mistake for anything other than a very cheap, 1 year, prove it contract. More queston marks than production.

By the end of the season, he was off crutches and in a walking boot. I have heard reports that he is doing some running already. Sounds like the recovery is coming along, but we really wont know until we start OTA's or even into training camp. |

I guess it depends on how serious the injury was and where he is now. But, I still think by season end he will have implemented himself as the SS and who knows, maybe Baccari Rambo has a Superman like 2nd season. |

Good. Obviously I wish him a speedy return. But I wonder if he can be counted on. |

Helu had the same injury and had no problems last year. |

I believe Helu had turf toe.

But I'm sure we're going to see a lot of Thomas this year. |

Yeah, but I'm sure your bro in law doesn't get top notch treatment and therapy like these athletes do. I really wanna see him in the starting line up by seasons end. |

I would be okay with a multiple year deal if it was incentive based on behavior and performance. It's simple, you perform and act like an adult you get paid. Act like a kid, you get cut! |

Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
supposedly desean jackson is on the trading block for around a third. not that he doesn't have problems, but he would be a legitimate #2. Griffin, Morris, Garcon, Jackson, and Reed sounds pretty damn potent.
Which sucks. But, could a new contract be worked out? Possibly.
Probably - If you're willing to pay him more. At 27, with the cap going up, he is not going to take a paycut. Pretty sure he learned his team building skills from Terrell Owens. |

no. he'd want more money on top of the draft pick. and if the eagles are willing to trade him, there's probably a reason, and it's not because of all the other great receivers on the roster. akeem would be a good signing. |

Penn signs with Oakland
|
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
I like how all the Redskins reporters are now stating that Penn was not or very little upgrade over Polumbus after he signs with Oakland.
Towing the company line boys? |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
It's a little disheartening to think that the Redskins couldn't find 1 RT that was an upgrade over Polumbus.
