I didnt wait this long to give up on the season this fast, it's just 1 game.

Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
I think RGIII is a mediocre QB, but I could be wrong, because its hard to give any QB a fair shake when Polumbus and Chester are pass blocking for you. I know Watt is outstanding, but it just highlighted how BAD Polumbus is. He just got destroyed all game. Long and Moses should be starting. We drafted them, and I honestly don't think they could do any worse. Even if they could, at least they would be gaining experience. It would have only got easier from there, for Moses in particular. Valuable experience against the best defensive player in football would have been invaluable, if that makes sense.

Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
This is J. Gruden fault more then anybody. How do you expect to win this game after you see your QB getting demolished, but you are averaging more than 6 yards a carry in the run game keep running. Blocking was the next issue blocked extra point, punt, Kory L got pushed back in RG3 he fell and fumbled.
We lost because of bad play calling and lack of blocking on o-line and special teams |
Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
Griffin is no Andrew Luck but he's still pretty good, he has lost his mojo. What RGIII needs is a few good games to get his confidence back and believe in himself.
|
Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
Man, Cowboys showing you what investing in the offensive line looks like.
|
Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
For those of you blaming the O-line, we rushed 137 yards rushing on only 18 carries. Our RB's averaged 7.6 yards a carry. We should not have lost that game.
It was very frustrating watching RGIII play. He missed a ton of open receivers. It's mental for RGIII. |
Missing Reed (guy is crystal glass) didn't help.
Well we knew that this offseason, I saw zero effort by the front office to get another TE. The result is paul still on this team, hurting this team again with his poor play |
Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
They're a fine running line, but looked awful in pass pro today. If you're going to be bad in pass pro, then run Morris more, :P.
I think next game we see a TON of Alfred Morris. And rightfully so. |
Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
Run blocking and pass blocking are two complete different phases of blocking.

I made fun of the 'abandon the run' crowd under the Shanahan regime because when you actually look at the drive logs and consider the context of the way the games were going they weren't abandoning the run, they were doing what was working and appropriate for the time. But today... the passing game wasn't working. Griffin looked slow and confused. Watt looked like he was joined at the hip with Griffin. It wasn't just bad passing, it was bad plays for losses. We have that one series that resulted in a TD, and our offense opens the next series with a WR reverse for a 9 yard loss. Bad, bad play calling. The run game was working incredibly well and we couldn't do anything in the passing game, the game was close until the end. Bad coaching. |

Im beginning to think the whole "griff was good in a gimmicky offense" thing has some validity to it. Last year i blamed the brace for everything - his motion was screwing up his mechanics which was affecting his throws / confidence ( aka - ability to go through your progressions). After the pre season and today it is slightly apparent to me that he is not that good. He does not see the whole field. He panics. He holds the ball waaaay to long. |

Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
We were in the redzone and kory got pushed back into griffin that hurt that looked like playaction i liked the call. Td there and were all saying different things. Not letting that xp getting blocked. Tough day.

Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
Jay Gruden likes passing the ball, he isn't changing after one bad game. The problem isn't that he likes to pass, the problem is our O-Line is terrible at pass blocking, and RG3 needs a great line to be good. He is still learning how to read defenses, and the extra split second it takes for a non pro bowl type qb he isn't going to get with the offensive line we started today.

Me neither but if we go 0-2 vs Houston and Jacksonville.........hmmm |
Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
Aaron Rodgers, Peyton, Tom Brady, Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson all would look bad with Chester and Tyler on the right side of their line. How do you expect to gain confidence as a QB under constant pressure and unblocked defenders? I'm not making excuses for the QB he made his mistakes but the line didn't give him a chance to make magic happen period.

Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
Pretty god damn disappointing. What the fuck happened to our special teams? I thought we got rid of that shit from last year. Apparently not.
RGIII had a mixed review game. Some good and some bad. I can say the same about our offensive line as well. Not sure why Gruden went away from the run. Really Jay? I would make Niles Paul inactive for next week. As a coach, you have to make a statement that fumbling isn't tolerated at all. If you lack the discipline, your team will implode. |
Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
I'd like to thank Helu for the absolute most laziest attempt I've ever seen in my life to try and block someone. Honestly, that is a cuttable offense. No effort at all.

Alf Mo wasn't a fumble, but if he did, you god damn right I would. The Pats did it with their starting RB (Ridley) last year. |

When the QB trips and drops the ball while trying to hand it off, that is a fumble. |
Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
As I was on a flight during the game, I missed it. But if you told me that Clowney would go out injured, that we would average more than 6 yards per carry, that RGIII would throw for nearly 275 and no picks, I would have guessed a victory. Damn this team is maddening. 6 points? That's pathetic.

Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
So... an hour removed from the game...
Not overly concerned. It bothers me Gruden wasn't smart enough to run the ball more. It bothers me we had two blocked kicks. Watt clearly was the deciding factor in that game. Thankfully we don't have to play him every week. We have a week to get ready for the Jags game. Operation Get Right starts now. |

That's what happens when the center steps on the QB legs |
Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
I dunno. I think we match up better with Jacksonville. I know Cyprien went out with a concussion i started em IDP thinking hes be active vs eagles run but he was done. Teams gonna get picked apart this week in the media. I think more as a team youll see a few things. but they have the talent to turn it around.

Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
Obviously, the Texans are better than last years record shows. But are we? Remains to be seen. Being undone by blocks and fumbles still registers as a loss. This team will need to win convincingly to lead me to conclude that things are on the upswing.

Even if say that happen next week against the Jags I still wouldn't believe it. Now if it happen 3 weeks in a row maybe Today's play means against Philly or Seattle the final score will be 54 - 7 |
Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
There were too many mistakes to overcome......having Polumbus battle Waat, both fumbles inside the ten yard line, and Griffin holding the ball too long just to name a few.........but there was progress in the running game and RG3 completed a high percentage of his passes.......the defense was solid.....but there were too many three and outs before the offense started to produce some things....

Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
Before anyone goes anointing the defense, they let Fitzpatrick have a 109 QB rating, about double his career average. This team still needs a lot of players. We have too many guys starting who need to be backups.

The Pats were in a position to do that. We are more in a position just to nicely ask him not to again, and if he says No tell him thats ok too. |

Looks to me that Helu ran the ball very well today. I think we are in a position to do exactly that. However, I'm not going to blame Alf Mo for that shitty hand-off. The fumbling I'm talking about is when you get it stripped from you like a little bitch. |

They played well enough to win, special teams and offense didn't. Houston has one of the better olines in the league |
Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
Seattles gonna have a field day with our pass protection. We should start cousins for just that game, give rg a break and let him get annihilated for once. Its like that, i just dont see how it could be anything else. Kid needs some hogs. Only reason i think were a year away. Maybe a defensive piece too.

Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
My initial reaction to the game was utter disappointment and just wanted to say everybody sucks - that was hard to watch so I opted to just turn it off after that Paul fumble. Hard to say how the game would have turned out if Houston don't get that punt block TD and we score on either fumble in the redzone but I thought Gruden made some pretty stupid decisions that sure didn't help things.
Not ready to throw in the towel on Griffin just yet (I don't think the outcome would have changed with Cousins in there) but man does he look like he has lost all confidence in himself. If he can't get his mojo back against the Jags- it's not going to be a fun season. |
