Oh sure, that’s where I’m at as well. Just saying Bezos may not be the slam dunk a lot of people are saying he would be.

Re: WFT's Off-Season Thread

Ron Rivera is forcing Snyder to spend money to have an actual full competent FO and scouting department.

Snyder is now paying like 6 high end executives 6 salaries .. vs just paying Bruce to wear 6 hats but not actually do anything.

I honestly dont see Snyder keeping Ron for more than 2 years.

Snyders MO is spend as little as possible on FO and infrasrtucture, collect his league revenue, pocket money ... and wonder why the team is consistently a loser.

Fuck Dan Snyder.

One knock you can't make against Snyder is when it comes to spending $$. He's never been afraid to open the check book. Not sure I'd buy that he doesn't want to pay a front office. I'm guessing Bruce was the one that wanted to keep a lean front office, less people to question him.

I don't think anyone is saying he'll be slam dunk, we just want someone different.

It's like staying in an abusive relationship because you're worried the next person might be worse. Makes no sense.

Requirement to be new owner = Get new stadium deal done in 1st year or 2

If that can be done, anyone can own it imo.

People always say how Snyder isn't afraid to spend money. Hmm....he still spends within the salary cap so does he really spend more than the other owners?
People always say how Snyder isn't afraid to spend money. Hmm....he still spends within the salary cap so does he really spend more than the other owners?
Cap outlay vs cash outlay are two different numbers. I don't know the answer to your question, but cap numbers often include voidable years or salary costs written down but not really paid. Cash outlays are what is spent. At this point every team has a rolling floor because some owners would were consistently underspending in cash outlays.

Edit: I looked up active cash spend on overthecap.com and WFT is 17th in active cash spending, so that would be moddle of the pack for cash outlays.

I do think Snyder had realized that big spending on contracts didn't equal big time results in winning. And Rivera definitely doesn't see spending as the easy way to winning.

He will spend money on FA he think will draw hype but he is pretty cheap with facilities and stuff.

They've always been (since they moved there) the Washington Football Team. What they are saying is that you can tell us to remove our name, but we refuse to rename the team. We'll just be the Washington Football Team. And that means they will always be known as the Redskins as the name was never replaced.

Definitely. He wants to spend money to bring in money. A new practice facility (which they have needed for years to compete with amenities that other modern facilities offer) has never been considered because the ROI wouldn't be felt financially (even though it would help field a more competitive team). But he doesn't mind making small improvements here and there that don't cost as much (see the bubble dome for example).

My big takeaway from this is those of us who don't like the name WFT aren't making as much noise as those who do. Time to speak up before they bring the most unoriginal name in sports history into permanence.

"Some of the things that are emerging from that are the Washington Football Team has something that ties deeply to our history. It feels like that isn't jettisoning all the things we have been in the past, whereas something that's completely new might feel that way," Wright told Keim.

I don't think they were ever going to really change it, Wright is spot on when he says they don't wan't to erase the history with a brand new name..

Warriors , Redwolves etc would be basically a whole new franchise. Redskins will never be replaced so just keep it WFT, the folks that hate it will eventually get used to it and like it as well.

I'd prefer to pick a team name. But I'm fine with Washington Football Team too. They can name them anything and they will still be my favorite team until the day I die.

Washington's quest to add more offensive talent could include New England WR N'Keal Harry. The team is monitoring his situation, according to multiple sources. The 6-foot-4 Harry, a first-round pick in 2019, hasn't produced and could be traded

I wouldn't oppose to this move if we give up something like 5th round pick or later.. And this could mean that the coaches don't have a lot of faith in AGG and/or Harmon.

I prefer Redwolves, Wolves or Football Team in that order. If Football Team I'd prefer to have some kind of logo not numbers on both sides.

When you put it like that, I love the idea.

And maybe someday the liberal cancel culture will fizzle out and we can reinstall the name. Very unlikely, but lets be hopeful.

Any time we can give them a big FU, I'm all for it.

I still call them the Redskins and always will.

I never saw any stories that seriously suggested Bezos was coming in, but the fact is he's filthy rich and may want to own a team someday. It wasn't hard to put 2 and 2 together given our shaky ownership situation.

There were and still are multiple reports that he has interest in owning an NFL franchise, and he has strong ties to Washington. While I don't know if Dan would ever sell, I don't think it was (or still is) far fetched or laughable.

That's been my thinking for a while now. A new name means new logo, new identity, new everything, the past is a distant memory.

I like keeping the link to the past by not replacing Redskins.

I don’t understand trading for a guy who would just be depth? That makes zero sense. They rather trade for depth and not a guy like Ertz who would be a major role on offense

Pass on this...draft a guy instead

I think monitoring the situation means if he's released they'll give him a look, or if NE would take a 7th rounder maybe they'd do it.

Trading for Ertz is a little different since you'd have to take on a much bigger contract than Harry.
