Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread

One thing that I would want to know about all these QB's is can they play in bad weather? Cause it is obvious that Tua can not play in bad weather. If Miami is ever to make it to a SB they'll need home field.

Obviously Brady was a great QB, perhaps the best ever, but one thing that gets overlooked is just how good he could play in bad weather.

Options and scenarios ..
I would sit tight at number 2 .. let the bears make there decision and if they take Maye then the offers will Come our way for our pick ( Williams) ..we could get a boat load of picks and probably get Fields for a ham sandwich..,

If Bears take Williams I would take Maye (unless we get crazy offer from NE to move up ) we swap picks and we take Daniels plus NE 2cnd this year or next year First..

I'm just not sold on Williams.. but it's early and luckily we got TOP people making the decision..

Yeah that’s what separates Elite from Good. Tua is a good QB no doubt but he’ll never be elite. He gets compared to Brees often but some forget Brees played in a dome for his glory years.

Good point about the weather and playing indoors .

Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread

Williams has a good arm. Plays in same system Kyler Murray did in college. He NEVER has his feet set and displays poor mechanics. Holds the ball too long.
A bit taller than Murray at 6’, but noticeably slower. He often is chased down from behind, where Murray has faster wheels to get away from defenders.
Couple all that with some questions of character (diva), I’m a hard pass. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYTYmXcM86U&pp=ygUZY2FsZWIgd2lsbGlhbXMgaGlnaGxpZ2h0cw%3D%3D

Can you imagine trading the 2cnd pick for a haul.. we end moving back a few spots getting 2 first round picks , another 2nd rounder and still find a Purdy in the late rounds .. yea we could get good quick !!

Play your cards right, and you might end up with bookend tackles and a qb. Maybe Penix or McCarthy in rd 2.

This could be a scare tactic to end up in DC.
Not sure how to read this but again, I’m excited adults are making decisions.

It's not a scare tactic. These guys have little to no say in who drafts them. The Chargers didn't give two fucks that a high profile like Eli Manning didn't want to be a Chargers. They still drafted him and would have kept him had they not traded to the Giants.

"In July, @ProFootballTalk
reported that reps for Caleb "had been making it known to prospective agents that Williams wants partial ownership of the team that selects him in 2024, if he declares for the draft.”

ROFL. Yeah, that idiot isn't getting any partial ownership.

We know he's going into the draft because he skipped the bowl game and his stock is as high as it's ever going to get.

I like Caleb as a player but the off the field questions seem to be piling up. Why doesn't he have an agent? Is his father a control freak who is trying to manipulate the system? I'm starting to be wary of drafting him if his old man is part of the package.

The last paragraph sums him up pretty well:

However, Williams was unable to reach the high bar set for him in 2023, showing a propensity to hang onto the ball and take too many hits and sacks. For all his positives, Williams hurt his team with negative plays and still requires some refinement to his game. Still, this is an exciting player.

Just joking guys. Relax!
Williams has been in the spotlight for two years, Heisman winner, and NIL millionaire as a teenager. If the biggest knock on him is his dad is an asshole then the kid did a great job in college, under intense scrutiny.

On the field, almost all professionals say he is the best QB prospect by far.
Williams will be the first pick in the draft.
It’s not 50/50 with this guy.

A few months ago, CW was the undisputed #1 draft pick. That's no longer the case.

Odd to see you shit all over Howell but you're seemingly all in on Williams.

Last qb we drafted in the first round had a dad who was an asshole too, that didn't work out too well. Hopefully Caleb Williams can focus on football before trying to lock in that endorsement money as soon as he gets drafted.

Re: 2024 Early Bird Draft Thread

I wouldn't say I'm all in but pretty much every talent evaluator has CW rated higher than any QB since Andrew Luck. You guys know me, I'm pessimistic and my first thought is he can't be that good.

With that said, we need talent and playmaking ability to get good quickly.
If Kirk is your ceiling then keep drafting QBs in the late rounds like Dallas and try to develop them but you will end up with Dallas like results, QB that pads stats in meaningless games but shits the bed in the playoffs like Tony Romo and Rayne Dakota Prescott (I finger blasted a stripper with the same name, I wonder if they are related?).

7 of the 8 teams left in the playoffs have QBs drafted in the first round.

Give me a playmaker!

Absolutely the best case. And, if the coaches decide there are two they like equally, this would let them try to get some draft capital out of New England.

Doesn't matter what we'd do, if Peters decides the only way to get his guy is to move up to #1, by all means do it. That said, moving up doesn't seem like it would really be his style. We'll have plenty of options at #2.
