Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
I figured the weather in Maryland/Virginia wouldn't be too much different than South Carolina. I guess that's not the case?
When it feels 98 there it is like 88 here so about 10 degrees cooler, plus my house is in woods so I am surrounded by trees definitely keeps it cool until about 3 in the afternoon. The only things I worry about keeping cool are the pets. Have to make sure they are okey. |
Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
Tell me you've never lived in the DMV without saying you've never lived in the DMV.
The humidity around here is insane. Spring when it's like 60 degrees a day only lasts like a week or two a year. We live in a literal swamp town. Two days ago it was 50 degrees when I went to work at 5 am, and it was 80 in the afternoon. The humidity is insane - the humidity here makes it so unbearingly goddamn hot it feels worse than the dry 117 degree heat I experienced in Phoenix last summer. So yeah. I know what I'm about son.
LOL, thanks for the explanation dad! It gets humid in your house? I mean, South Carolina has humidity during a large part of the year, but inside of my condo it doesn't get humid. It warms up, but it doesn't turn into like being outside. |

Wonder how far apart you and Mooby are. Sounds like you live in 2 separate parts of the country. Although, I guess if you live in the woods, that would make a huge difference by itself. |
Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
Where I live has more in common with central PA than central MD let alone northern VA. The weather for Baltimore and DC can also be very different. They will get 4 inches of snow and Baltimore will have rain.

Had to look up where Parkton was, you are just about in PA. Everyone involved in drawing up the state lines of Maryland should be ashamed of themselves. Looks like something a 5-year-old on an etch-a-sketch would draw on accident. |

We don't all live in modern houses built in the last 20 years. My house doesn't have central a/c. Window units ftw. |

Disagree, I live off the east side of 95 and 95 is typically the dividing line for snow - everywhere to the west/north usually gets snow that sticks and we get a slushy mix. We only had 2 instances of measurable snowfall last winter. I think the closer you are to the Potomac or the coast the worse off you are for snow. But yeah I agree the weather for DC/NoVa and Baltimore can definitely be different. |

the closer to the ocean you are the less snow it seems |
Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
Much of the reason if not all of it is the amounts of Sea Air ,salt concentration. Mooby lives on the Shore, yeah a bit inland but still typically shore weather. Baltimore and place's around there , Annapolis , So. Maryland get some of the same due to the Chesapeake bay and it's mixture of Salt and Fresh water.
DMV usually gets hammered when the storm comes from the South and the cold air comes from the West. They meet around VA,DC or Maryland and it's heavy wet snow. |
Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
When you are out on a trail at a state park, where signs are posted on every trail head, dogs must be on leash and some one has their off leash dog running at me while I am out for my run. Then has the audacity to tell me "it's okay she's friendly" Okay random stranger I'll take your word for it.

i seriously don't understand this, like what are the pros of your dog off leash? i can't think of any but i can make a huge con list i have three dogs they are never off leash in public; my lab if we are going do ball we go to basically deserted sections of the county and i threw it to him then back on leash for the walk back to the car i see it all the time on busy trails with bikes and runners other leashed dogs etc, it makes zero sense |
Re: What REALLY grinds your gears?
Pro's: Less work for the dog owner, more freedom for the dog.
Con's: Everything else, including up to being illegal altogether. |

Getting food stuck in your teeth, that you cannot get out w/o an instrument of some kind.

I keep floss picks everywhere now, in the car, at work. I can't eat without getting food stuck. |
