Agreed. And that's exactly why I hate listening to the post game call-in shows when I'm driving home from games, regardless of the outcome.

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.

The reality is every year with every team in the NFL brings some degree of change and adjusting. I think as Redskins fans, we've longed for stability so long, and rightfully so, that we've some how bought into the notion that if we 'stick it out' for another two years or more with the current format, then we've become 'consistant' and it validates our decision making. Well, you can also become consistantly bad, or stuborn..it carries a lot of canotations.

With all that being said, I'm torn on whether Al Saunders should go for the simple reason it could further stunt JC's maturity.

This is become as complicated as an 'Exit Strategy.'

In today's NFL you really are given a 3-5 window to do your thing.

So I mean is the issue that Gibbs has lost it and that's why he has to go, or that he didn't lose it, but he thought he did and picked Saunders who doesn't have it, and that's why he has to go?

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.

Why would he bring in Saunders if he thought he could still get the job done himself?

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
When Gibbs was calling the plays last year his play selection was 352 run versus 356 pass. I think he has a decent idea about balance. Moss set a Redskin record for receiving yards, Brunell had one of his best seasons statistically and Portis broke the Redskins rushing record.

Oops, those were lthis years numbers. Last year's numbers are: 525 versus 481.
i said he didn't understand keeping the defense off-balance.

That's what I was trying to say. Maybe I wasn't clear

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.

Skins have been consistantly bad, the reason is the FO. Not the current coaches or personnel because the front office is what put everything in place, cannot blame coaches, can only blame FO for puttting the wrong people in place and giving the wrong people personnel decisions, and paying the wrong people the wrong amount of money. The consistency of the poor front office has led to the consistency of poor performance year after year. Gibbs cannot be blamed, and neither can Saunders or Williams, they were all proven coaches under OTHER front offices.

Re: Im done....Gibbs must go.
I disagree, we did need balance yesterday.

You can't just continue running the ball regardless of the situations. What we needed yesterday were some key plays from the passing game. We needed to make some plays to get them out of that all blitz mode, which we couldn't do.

If we could have made 4-5 key plays through the air it could have been a different game.

Balance in this case doesn't mean we needed a 50/50 split of runs to passes, balance just means we needed more production from the passing game when called upon.
that's a pretty loose definition of balance... 4/5 key plays through the air over a course of the entire game!

I always thought the act itself served as a profound example of selflessness. He stood up in front of the whole world and showed that he was not infallible and was willing to step down as the primary playcaller for a guy who at the time had established himself as the absolute #1 offensive mastermind.

Calling Gibbs washed up because he brought in the NFL's #1 offensive coordinator to enhance the Redskins offense is at best irrational. Anyone can argue decision making based hindsight.

but Gibbs is the President of the organization (front office)! as president and head coach, i'm sorry, but i just cannot see where gibbs isn't to blame.

I love having gibb's as coach, he's a great guy, with passion for the franchise, who doesn't listen to the media. He stays composed, and it's nice to not always be questoining our coach like I did with Spurrier.

Yeah. I guess what I was trying to ask is what are people more upset about with Gibbs:

A. He's lost it, can't coach in today's NFL

B. He handed over the offense to Saunders, when he (Gibbs) should have just stayed in complete day-to-day control

Who decided to make Gibb's president and head of personnel decisions...........Danny Boy, Gibb's is not a proven talent evaluator, But Snyder doesn't know any better. Maybe Gibb's didn't want to come back, and DAn convinced him.

Oh dear, now I've gone cross eyed. Maybe I shouldn't have ben so rude as to answer your question with a question (I apologize).

I don't think I would go so far as to say that Gibbs has completely lost it because I really don't want to discount the playoff season last year. But our offense was obviously struggling at the end of the season. Maybe because our WRs were getting banged up and Brunell is older than the new mayor of DC. Either way Gibbs felt like he had to make a change. Bringing in Saunders, to me, is a sign that Gibbs thinks that he himself has lost it.

Maybe that was a bad move. Maybe we just needed to let Campbell do his thing, as well as bring in some new blood at WR and we would have been fine. Maybe if the D hadn't collapsed we'd be golden. I guess we'll never know.

I really don't know if Gibbs is the problem, but at the same time I don't know that he's really giving us the best chance to win. So basically, if Matty were to make his poll of should he stay or should he go (weird, that song was just on the radio) I doubt I would answer it.

The only reason Gibbs came back was his love for the franchise and the city. I strongly believe it had very little to do with Snyder as a person, although Gibbs more than likely has great regard for him. But I think it was all about the city and the team..and his desire to turn things around.

One thing's for sure, Joe Gibbs is a Redskin through and through. It's too bad he's having a tough time finding some to play for him.
