Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
Give me a QB for the next 10 years. Specifically Jake Locker. Drafting a Guard or Center at 10 is a huge reach, especially when you consider the fact that we not only have a second round pick this year but the last Second Round Guard drafted by Shanahan, our very own Lennie Friedman. For better or worse free agency will address the immediate concerns along the O-Line.
You bastards. You **** teases. You wretched ingrates! This happens every year. And this is not just directed at gafinfan. This is all of you! Even though we weren't looking for a QB in 2008 we still had people saying that the 2008 QB class was terrible (*cough* Matt Ryan Joe Flacco *cough). Wait till next year they said. Then 2009 roles around (Josh Freeman, Matt Stafford). Oh no that class is terrible, wait till next year that class will be much better. 2010 roles around, the first year we really start looking for a new QB. Now I can deal with 2008 and 2009. However I was promised in writing that the 2011 QB class was going to be amazing. I was frequently told that 2011 was the year we would have our pick from a flurry of QB's. 2011 was going to be the year of the Quarterback. So you know what we dealt with not getting Bradford and McCoy and maybe we lucked out on Clausen. Heck even Tebow looks like a potential Franchise QB at this point. And now it's 2011 and what do I hear? Wait till 2012. I don't know about you guys but I'm starting to sense some sort of pattern here (except with Ruhskisn, as he has remained consistent from last year on his promise to me of QB nirvana). At this rate we're not going to get a QB worth protecting until Trent is retired along with the 7 other first round fat boys you guys are drafting over the course of the next 7 years (4 OL, 3 DL). Now if you'll excuse me I have to go dial 911 as I'm experiencing chest problems as well as shooting pains in my arm. PS - It should go without saying but just in case, this piece is written with a tongue in cheek tone. I believe none of you to be wrechted ingrates or cock teases. Nor are any of you bastards.
:food-smil :), I'm cool! Maybe I should have said it differently, there are and will be QB's picked in round one, Without Luck being there imo there are no other QB's that should carry a #1 grade. Which does not mean that there are not some very good prospects out there; some of which will be picked in the first round. I see 4 or 5 quality players with NFL type ability that are not #1 round grades, which is all I'm saying! Tom Brady was taken in the 6th round for a reason, Johnny U was cut from the Giants for a reason, the Steelers passed on Dan Marino for a reason and these are just a very few of the many screw ups that GMs make! Lets take Locker and or Kaepernick, two guys that some really like with strong arms and some success, imho both are gangly and undisciplined, who when they get to this level without alot of training and support will get killed because of the way they play. Is the team that spends what it takes to pay a top ten QB going to have the patience to let either guy learn and grow or will they throw him to the wolves, as Beck was handled by Camreon and then screwed because of it? John Beck was not a bad prospect who imo should have gone in the third round and sit for at least a year or two ala Arron Rogers and then you would have a quality QB. Will he ever be one now? Shanny seems to think so but really who knows? I still like the guy and he does have upside plus he won't be a INT machine like the guy you had playing the last 3 games, jm2c. One guy I really like is Greg McElroy, quality guy, smart, can manage a game, has a live arm, WCType, and most of all a winner! Should he go in round one? Hell no! But sombody is going to get a good one imvho if they pick him. |

For realz?
Do you feel better about the quality of a draft prospect so long as you reach for him? That would explain why you feel that you can't find good quarterbacks later on in the draft. |
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
Wow, I liked Von Miller after seeing him play just one game.. But after watching his most recent, man this guy is going to be better than Orakpo.
Not quite as efficient in terms of rushing the passer, but can this guy ever tackle! Draft Von Miller at #10 and we'll have the two boys from Texas (different schools) for the next 5 years. |

Unless AJ Green is somehow still at 10, then we take him. |
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
what you didn't mention is that he also apparently has great intangibles. From what I've read he's a winner, a leader, he loves to play football, and he has a great overall mentality.
Cam Newton has the skillset of a faster Tebow with the intangibles of Jamarcus. No thanks. |

Saying Newton has the intangibles of Jamarcus is just incorrect. Jamarcus was boneheaded from his first day at LSU to his last day in Oakland, Cam Newton is in his own league compared to JR. With that being said, he's not for the Redskins and it would pain me to watch him fail under Shanahan. |

8th ranked Passing Offense > 31st ranked Defense Von Miller > AJ Green *Best player available is fun in theory, but we have to worry about our biggest fallback from last year. |

JaFatcus was lazy. The jury on Newton's work ethic...well that will speak for itself when the time comes.

Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
I agree with a bunch of people on here, We should trade down and get a couple more picks. As much as i dislike the Patriots they do amazing things in the draft and its normally by trading down.
But if we don't and Farley is still there, he would be what haynesworth never was for us. Also I like Newton but he is a project, I'd rather wait till the second round and pick up Kellen Moore, there is no question of his work ethic. But please, please, please, I hope we do not take locker like so many project. He is a good athlete but he is an inaccurate thrower. |
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
Yea, it's overused and I think I say it every year but let's trade down if possible. We need bodies.
Ryan Williams anyone from VA Tech, projected 1st/2nd rounder, injured much of 2010, if he slides into the 2nd? He's got some crazy talent. As I type that, I'm thinking of all of the other areas we need...so nevermind. |

Drafting Moore in the second round would be a massive reach if you ask me. Locker would be much more reasonable in the second than Moore. I like Moore, don't get me wrong, but I just don't know if he'll ever be a true starting qb in the NFL. He seems more like the guy you want holding the clipboard and coming in as a back up. I wonder if he won't end up making a good coach? |
Re: Skins have 10th overall selection. Who do we pick?
Fairley dominated today

Yup. Dominated. Cameron Jordan might be a more realistic draft wish at DE but it would be sweet if Fairley fell to us. |
