Royster played against bums in Tampa. I'll take helu over him any day
Royster probably won't see very many carries during the season. He's #3 on the depth chart. He'll probably see less than 50 carries the whole year*.

I disagree. Well likely trade cousins in the offseason. If not, he walks as a free agent after next year. Grossman will be 34 next year and 35 in 2015. So what's our long term backup plan for rg3?

White showed promise and Perhaps he can be groomed. If so, he's exactly the type of QB we want backing up RG3.

Unless cousins has more (good) exposure (in 2013) he won't fetch much per trade or as a FA, in which we could easily keep him given the cap situation next year. I think we should and will. If he gets that exposure it's because RG went down again, in which we def wanna keep cousins. Either way he makes sense on this roster.

Pat White has a long way to go before deserving 2nd or 3rd string, and will never likely be a solid and consistent passer.

New numbers:
Thompson 25
Rambo 24
B. Jenkins 51
Barnett 55

What is the cap situation you are referring in terms of next year?

If RG3 is healthy all season this year, Cousins will be traded this offseason, no matter what we can get back. Your right if he doesn't get more playing time this year it probably won't be a 1st rounder.

We'll have plenty of cap room to retain Cousins beyond 2014/2015 even with a liberal contract.

Besides, we needed Cousins to make the playoffs last season, I don't think we would have beaten Baltimore and Cleveland with Rex or Pat at QB.

If we're going to keep a read option project type QB then we should just go get Vince Young. He's better than Pat White.

That's not how MS/KS see it.

True we would but I don't see him staying if he doesn't have a shot as a starter even if its for more money.

Well in that case using a 4th round pick on a late 1st or 2nd round talent, having him win 2 games for us in his rookie season and whatever will happen this year and next, having a guy work hard in the offseason and everyday in practice, and gave the team peace of mind knowing we had a plan B to go if we needed, for a 4th rounders pay, was well worth it.
A backup should never be seen as permanent but rather temporary. It wouldn't be devestating to not be able to trade him, it be nice. Wouldn't we get a compensatory pick anyhow? Is that how it works?
