When do we select next? We take two in the 6th right?

Re: Official 2006 NFL Draft Thread

Is Greg Esclinger still out there? Everything I have on him projects him as a 2nd rounder who should be a quality starting center at the pro level (if he adds some bulk).

Sounds like he could be a steal and we do need a backup center, I believe.
No. We traded away our 1st 6th.
we had 3 6s, 4, 20, 27... we traded the 20. we have 4, and 27 still.
No. We traded away our 1st 6th.
Well I thought we had three 6th rounders and traded away one in that round. Nonetheless, we're up next! The draft is the gift that keeps on giving....

My bad. That rocks. Come on Anwar.

Re: Official 2006 NFL Draft Thread

matui and mcpherson would be steals. I'd love either one (or both?)...

all the guys i liked in the low rounds (tulloch, ingle, etc) went a lot earlier :/ looks like other teams knew they were undervalued too.

Re: Official 2006 NFL Draft Thread

mike hass is a great pick for the saints. solid #3/#4 WR (james thrash) quality guy, plays hard, know the game. won't put up 1500 yards a year like he did in college, but he's still a great pick.

Reed "I" Doughty makes the roster. Now read that fast 3 times!

That Guy 04-30-2006 02:39 PM

Re: Official 2006 NFL Draft Thread

orr is the fastest tall WR this draft, but a bit of a project. good value in the 6th, eevn though he's a bit boom or bust.

That Guy 04-30-2006 02:40 PM

Re: Official 2006 NFL Draft Thread

DAMN. doughty is a guy i wanted, but not if mcpherson or matui are still on the board.

Re: Official 2006 NFL Draft Thread

Safety | Senior | Northern Colorado Reed Doughty
Height: 6-0 1/2 | Weight: 209 | 40-Time: 4.73

Official Bio

Strengths:
Tough and physical...Very instinctive...A solid and reliable tackler...Displays good hands and ball skills...A playmaker who is always around the action...Extremely smart and a team leader with top intangibles...Experienced and a 4-year starter.

Weaknesses:
Does not have outstanding timed speed...Is a bit undersized...Did not always play against elite competition...Lacks the range, quickness and closing speed you look for...Will not match up well in coverage...His overall pro upside may be limited.

Notes:
A three-time Academic All-American...Was a prolific and highly decorated player at the Division I-AA level but just doesn't have the physical tools that translate well to the pros...Best shot to make it might come as a backup and special teams ace.

Re: Official 2006 NFL Draft Thread

We definately have problems picking in the later rounds.....another pick that is rated as an undrafted fa in all my materials.

We got rid of Bowen and paid Archuleta out the butt to look foward to draft another of Matt Stevens' clones?
Wow....I am at a loss for words
Sounds like a Jared Newberry pick. Did they think someone else was interested in him?

Yeah Newberry is looking good.....in NFL Europe...for the Titans

I remember someone saying yesterday that 6th round picks are practically worthless.....with the talent that uis still out there I wouldn't mind having that 3rd 6th rounder right now. (not a knock on McIntosh, tho).

there's at least 2 round 3 talents (matui, mcphearson) still available... wish we got one or both of them.

Re: Official 2006 NFL Draft Thread

round 6 best picks:
browns - Babatunde Oshinowo (DT)
browns - Lawrence Vickers (FB)
saints - Mike Hass (WR)
titans - Jonathan Orr (WR)

I like wali lundy (RB) and reed doughty (FS) but value wise they could be better... doughty probably wouldn't go until round 7 if at all.
