Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Clifton is staying with the Packers.
RT Adam_Schefter Filed to ESPN: Packers re-signed OT Chad Clifton. 3 years, $20 million, 7.5 million guaranteed |
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
I was kind of hoping we got Clifton... oh well..
|
Well well well . . . . No big Splash for the Skins. Thank God. Bring on the draft!
:headbange
I cant seem to figure out how the Skins are going to fill 10 new roster spots and at the least 3 new OL positions with 5 draft picks??????? |
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
what do you mean? just because we didnt sign anyone yet doesnt mean we arent going to sign anyone period...
|
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Ok so here is my wish list....this would make my offseason!
Dansby Witherspoon (Sign this dude now!, WTF was philly thinking) Plus he has history with hasslet right? Clark 1st or rolle (clark is a harder hitter) Dellhome (yes he still has alot left and plays with a passion for the game, not to, mention rex is garbage) oh and trade los, and landry dont care if its for a 3rd each! Draft Okung to hold down the LT spot, and a RB in the second Dwyer |

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread

really? we didnt get clifton? man that hurts. guys that really pysically hurts. i havent felt this since i quit cigarettes. its official. im going thru vinny withdrawl. i mean, chad clifton? really? |
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
just reported, Dansby to sign w dolphinsin the morning(again!), per NFLN damn now lets put all focus on LB witherspoon!
|
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Dansby is expected to sign with the Dolphins sometime tomorrow per nfl network.
beat me to it lol |
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
The Dansby signing is no surprise once Parcells got in a room w/ him.
|
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Just sign Tony Pashos just for the simple fact that he's an O-Lineman and... he's Greek lol
I'd like Will Witherspoon too. |
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
I'm glad it's slowed down. Usually we would have signed 4 new players and everyone would be hyped waiting for the seasons to begin...bring in some new folks at the pace you want Shanny.
|
Dellhome
Really? Why do you want this guy? Campbell is very similar....you either want Campbell gone and replace with a draftee or better player or you stick with him. A starting QB cut? wow...there is good reason for this. Think of it this way...would the Skins cut Campbell outright?....no way...it is because he has trade value. That alone should tell you something |
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Delhomme at his insane extension contract is one thing. Delhomme after some mental rehabilitation (?) to regain his confidence, and getting him relatively cheap, is a whole nuther story.
...not that I'm saying we sign him tomorrow. But I bet a number of GM's will talk to him. |
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Think of Delhomme without Steve Smith....wow.
He has now entered the land of the backups....except 3 or 4 teams that flat out suck at QB. Thank goodness we are not one of them. He is decent....that is all Campbell is better and still has upside in my opinion. Delhomme will only get worse over time |
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
So far, the Redskins have, reportedly, been interested in the following FA's:
OT Tony Pashos SF OG Artis Hicks MIN ILB Larry Foote DET FS Antoine Bethea IND QB Rex Grossman HOU DE Jason Babin PHI C Kevin Mawae TEN Am I missing anyone? |

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
So do we know anything about jamal williams, Ryan Clark, Darren Sharper, Mike Bell, Darren Sproles if he'll get traded, and where they may go?
I called Larry Foote months ago saying he'll probably go here which, he probably will go to. |
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
per Adam_Schefter tweet:
Miami reached agreement with linebacker Karlos Dansby on a 5-year, $43 million deal, including $22 million guaranteed. I guess he is not coming to DC, but he is not going to the G-men! Good! |

Don't worry I'm sure someone will kindly inform you that the whole draft should be soley used for OL. Then we'll be good to go. ;) |
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
I think there's real reason to be concerned how we'll fill out our roster just to a place where we can be better than last year. There is a severe shortage of DL talent in FA and we all know it's unlikely the FO drafts a stud NT early. In fact even if we drafted Suh no telling how quickly he'd adjust to NT position.
As of today we need to draft/sign 7 legitimate starters to be a better team than last year: RT, LT, some combination of 2 dlinemen, 1 OLB (unless Wilson makes huge strides), 1 CB (to replace Rogers/Smoot), and a legitimate NFL FS. So yeah I count 7 and we'll only get 2 starters in the draft. I understand there's new, smarter, mgmt in place but I think forcing the 3-4 scheme this year basically demanded a very aggressive FA plan to keep the defense from taking a big step backward...especially considering Haslett is hardly a whiz when it comes to producing great defenses. |
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread

Uhhh. Neither Suh nor McCoy will be playing NT in the NFL. |

One thing is for sure: At this point I don't have a clue about what to expect from Shanahan and Allen this offseason. |
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
It feels really weird to be sitting here almost 24 hours into free agency and the Skins haven't signed anybody whatsoever. I'm not used to this, normally I'm getting mildly excited thinking about whatever hot name we picked up by now. This is gonna take some getting used to, especially hearing the phrase, "the Skins aren't overpaying for so and so."

Have you seen a picture of Daniels? If you pat him on the back, you would bruise your hand. He is a competitive power lifter in the offseason. The guy is a freak...and I think Orakpo may bench more :headbange |

I believe I just heard Michael Lombardi on NFL Network say that we've made a call inquiring about Westbrook. I dont know how serious we are.

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Westbrook is a good guy, but he is a used up commodity. Guy hasn't been healthy in a long time. I don't think he has had a relatively healthy year since the Eagles went to the Big Dance.
|
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
The way he made it sound I dont think we have any real interest. He also said that Westbrook would struggle passing a medical anyways.
|
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
I'm amazed we didn't sign anybody especially after we dumped so many players. The purge needed to happen but I fully expected to sign someone. It's not like we have 10+ picks to fill our holes.
|
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Relax guys, there are players left out there, ones that might want to visit several places. The less high profile the longer these things usually take.
