I think so... I'd have to check but I definitely remember seeing him out there, and he wasn't listed as having not played.

Yeah, I did not see him do anything and have not heard much about him in training camp. He was the training camp darling last year

Interesting tidbit about James Davis.

Chris Russell

Sources tell ESPN-980 that #Redskins RB James Davis left a team meeting/film session last night (unexcused) after getting in to an arguement w/ a coach about lack of playing time/reps. He is still MIA.

No sense of staying around trying to earn a spot if they aren't going to give reps/time to show them if you can or not.

Re: Training camp 2011 thread

Davis was complaining about playing time last week, and he didn't limit voicing his complaint to just the coaches, or keep it in the locker room.

It's time for him to go

Re: Training camp 2011 thread

Yup. He wasn't gonna make the team and was probably a long shot to make the practice squad.

At least now we can pick up another camp body at WR. We're running a little thin there.

When will these kids learn that the coaches around the league want team players. If you are considered a team player your career will last longer then your talent would warrant. If you are not a team player then teams will find a way to dump you the moment your talent starts to dip (See Randy Moss).

Still theres always guys like Davis that come into the NFL and get a dose of culture shock, or whatever you want to call it. Guy has been the man since at least high school (ranked 6th RB in the nation after his senior year).
Considered a four-star recruit by Rivals.com,[1] Davis was listed as the No. 6 running back prospect in the nation in the class of 2005.[2] He chose Clemson over Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana State, Mississippi State, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech.
[edit]
Then he became the big man on campus for four years at Clemson. Now he's in the NFL going from team to team in a place where he currently appears to be 6th on the depth chart. Maybe 7th if you put Williams back at RB. Big adjustment for a guy who was "the man" for such a long time.

Did Jason Reid write the article and then refer back to the Skins unfair treatment of McNabb while simultaneously calling Beck the worst QB in the NFL?

Re: Training camp 2011 thread

I guess Davis didn't understand that not everyone was going to get the same amount of playing time every game? He's an idiot because the coaching staff might have had him chalked up for more playing time then others next week. Oh well, we definitely don't need that attitude around the park anymore, they got rid of AH, they don't need someone else filling that role. Let him take that elsewhere.

I think its also predicated on how well the player practices and works hard. If he's not working hard he's not going to see the field.

And to think, we thought we got rid of the bias journalism when JLC left. Granted I don't want someone like Larry Michael covering the team where everything is ALWAYS good even though we're down like 59-28. However the venom the other way isn't that much fun to see either.

The need for extreme venom is long gone now that Vinny has been replaced with competent management. That was the last point in time I would have welcomed every single article bashing the Skins to the brink, which was before Vinny got canned and there was the possibility of him coming back. However once he resigned and Bruce got hired the time for typical Redskin JLC bashing was over.

so there is a chance that we don't keep 3 NT on our depth chart this year. I really think/thought that we would have Barry Cofield, Anthony Bryant, and Chris Neild.
He had no shot here anyway. See ya.
Not just here - he's likely torpedoed his shot to land anywhere. Running backs are a dime a dozen and Davis has never done squat in this league. Simply no reason for anyone to sign a marginal player with this kind of attitude problem

I think Shanahan likes having these potential running backs playing fullbacks. You look at some of the guys he's had over the years playing FB at one time or another with Mike Anderson, Rueben Droughns, Howard Griffith, even Peyton Hillis. In my eyes Keiland Williams kind of fits that mold and above all moving him to fullback creates a roster spot for one of the more versatile players in Washington.

Horton keeps playing out of position, a lot of people are going to want to hit him

And in James Davis news, Shanny says he thinks he's retired...so 2016 Hall of Fame class-Brett Favre, Randy Moss, James Davis

From this article:

12. Receiver Leonard Hankerson had his best day catching the ball, grabbing a variety of throws, one down low another where he had to reach up high and others that were between the numbers. Got ‘em all. He ran a good route vs. Brandyn Thompson in which he planted out, in and back out. He shook Thompson, squared his shoulder and came back for the ball.

If for nothing other than showing he is competitive, look for Beck to make a strong effort to equal, if not surpass the performance of Grossman against the Steelers. Trust he wont find himself in a situation where if things don't go well around him (like they did for Grossman) he'll find himself pressing to measure up and thereby make mistakes. This is the perfect opportunity for him.

We can sample other returners not named Aldrick Robinson, who should never be allowed to field a punt again.
