Same here. I think our starters did very well against the Ravens starters. HTTR!!! |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Alls I'm going to say is ... it's the preseason. That being said, this had the feel of a real game. WTF is up with the QBs making it so difficult to make a call. Both were pretty good tonight, Hightower was a beast as per usual. Hopefully Jenkins isn't banged up too bad.

Good point. He sucks. Where did you say that dronk thread ids, again? I think I'm about ready to migrate over there now. |

I'm probably wrong because admittedly I dunno a thing about playbooks, but I would think blocking schemes aren't as hard to learn as it is QB reads and hot routes and WR routes and what not. I would think blocking stays pretty consistent from playbook to playbook. Outside of shifts, audibles and what not. |

Well, it took our OL a full year to really come together. The zone blocking scheme takes a lot of continuity and timing. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Congrats Balt...bunch of idiots dancing like they won the eff'n SB. Memo: our ones beat your ones.
On a more pragmatic note: Decent game for us. Certainly again we had some issues but we definitely compete and don't get out classed. Gotta fix the penalties. They killed us more than a few times. But against a serious D we looked better than average and our D looked damn good. The points they gave up came on drives where a 3rd down penalty prolonged the drive. I was encouraged overall. To me at least our imminent 2-14 season looks less and less likely. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Where are all the Gano haters? The guy has been as solid as a rock and it would have been stupid to cut him. Austin is solid, got keep him, Paul, Hankerson, Banks and go with 2 QB's to keep the extra WR. I would say thank you and goodbye to Stalworth, Sellers and Kelly.
|
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Comcast is saying a sprain for Jenkins, but the rumors on Twitter are that he's out for the year. I would hate for that to happen and I hope those are just rumors.

The zone scheme isn't hard to "learn" it is hard to perfect as a unit because it is a moving machine with multiple moving parts that have to synchronize their efforts. You have to have players with the proper skill set and some time together to develop the ubiquitous "chemistry". |

He's definitely made a strength and accuracy improvement since last season. Knowing I probably capped on him last season, I'll eat some crow. |

Who are the rumors coming from? Reliable sources or Joe Schmo Fan? |

So basically you're a centipede. If you have a bum "leg" then the entire bug just kinda falls over. |

HogsHeaven...so I dunno. I dunno if they are reliable but l thing everyone should wait for a reliable source though. Still, a scary rumor. |

I'm not going to take anything serious from someone who made a Chase Daniel reference.. The guy threw one lob pass to Marko mitchell for a TD and everyone thought he looked fluid?
Come on.. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Seems that the rumor has been retracted...it was Tweeted by HogsHeaven and re-tweeted by Phillip Daniel.

For real. A knee injury for big guys is scary though. I hope he's able to recover. Although not a starter, he's good to have in the rotation and has had a spectacular camp/preseason. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Locklear completely whiffed on that sack. Nothing to do with scheme. We still might add some vet backups on the line, IMO. Let's see who gets cut.

Automatic unfollow for me. What a douche. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
We have a depth problem at Tackle. Locklear just isn't very good. Hasn't been good in practice either it sounds. Losing Heyer (face palm for real here) actually looks like a tough loss right now.

Apparently Jenkins himself said "it shouldn't be too bad" through John Keim so pretty substantive -- mri tomorrow

I expect us to be watching the cut lists closely. Don't know if Heyer would help, but he's better than Locklear (aint saying much!). Who else plays there? Selvish Capers? ???? |

Perhaps you are right in the short term...but a bad game after 2 weeks shouldn'd determine new depth value.....I'd hold onto locklear another week. based on statistics alone...one more week would give him 50% more familiarity with the team and scheme |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
I don't care about losing this meaningless game, but i'll be pissed if we lost our Rookie DE this year to an ACL tear.

MRI will tell--nothing more to do or say tonight, I guess. Twitter on the loose again! Loose Twits sink ships. |

Wonder how he looked tonight? Hard to see--guess it's a decent sign when they DON'T call his name. |

Who else plays there? Selvish Capers? ????[/quote] Capers has had one of the worst camps of all players...he's a cut waiting to happen. We don't really have any actual Ts other than Locklear. Not any that should be playing in the NFL at least. A couple camp-fodder types. Locklear was the plan at backup T and he looked bad at RT tonight and isn't very good at LT to begin with. |

ACL's are a funny thing. Sometimes they hurt like no other when you tear it and then walk off the field like its not that bad. Just like Tom brady a few years ago. I think, and not to be a negative nancy, but I think Jarvis tore it. If you hear a pop and walk off on your own, after being in pain earlier, most of the time its a tear. Sucks cause I was looking forward to seeing him play a lot this year. I really hope its just a sprain! |

Yup. Neither looks good. Wonder if there's any vets out there facing a numbers game? Hopefully. |
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
Josh Gorges was able to play hockey for years without an ACL at all using a brace. Obviously, football is a sport with different demands on the body than hockey, but the point is that guys with a busted ACL will not necessarily be totally in need of crutches.
|
Re: Redskins-Ravens: Gameday Thread
It's hard to find Ts in the NFL that have the athleticism that Shanny's super-wide zone scheme needs. Few of them get cut to boot.

This. As for the game, I liked what I saw, but I can't wait until our entire secondary (Hall, Wilson, Atogwe, and Landry) are healthy so we can see them gell together. Our secondary hasn't really impressed this preseason. |
