Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
My feeling is that Shanny is hoping Comptom will be our RT but of course, he won't go there without any insurance, hence Trueblood and Pahos.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
So we have rookie to compete/start off as the starter.
We have a guy who when he last played had a good year, then tore a ligament in his foot which caused him to miss the entire 2012 season. And we're trusting a guy who had this kind of surgery to back up or start at RT. Then we have Jeremy Trueblood as another backup, who only started 1 game last year and played in 9 after being demoted as a starter by Demar Dotson (who? Actually they said he played pretty well last year at PFF). PFF did say this about Trueblood: "5. Jeremy Trueblood, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2012 Cap Hit: $4.2m 2012 Performance Based Value: $800k Value Differential: -$3.4m We’ve been long time critics of Trueblood’s poor play in Tampa Bay, with several seasons of struggles contributing to this. With that in mind it’s probably a good thing that he was on the field for just 82 snaps in 2012, with Demar Dotson playing much better than him upon cracking the starting lineup. Still 82 snaps isn’t enough value to get out of a contract that high, especially with the Buccaneers being a better team with Trueblood out of the lineup." Something tells me that once again the Redskins biggest needs will still be DB and RT after the season (even after the draft). |

Whose foot is that? That thing looks like a hack job.

Lmao that looks like the dude from Saw did his surgery. Good lord I wouldn't want my doctor doing that to me
Actually Talib's numbers (posted earlier in this thread) show that he is rather middle-of-the-road ordinary. Added to this, of course, are his off-field concerns.

Skins are just waiting for the CB market to cool off, gain some leverage, and then go after some guys. They'll clear up room as needed as they go. No sense in opening up $5M in space now and lose some leverage in the process. They can play the woe is us we have no cap room to their advantage.
Well said. And Pashos was pretty good before he got hurt. As for Demar Dotson, I know him personally. Besides having a great deal of natural athletic talent (he played both hoops and football at Southern Miss), he is relatively smart and has a mature seriousness about him. I am not surprised that Tampa is enamored with him, regardless of Trueblood's play. As far as needing to fix our DB's and RT next year, of course that will be the case. There is no way to acquire franchise starters with our budget. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
When I see Pashos injury and read about it, I get the feeling we signed 2008 Jon Jansen

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Chill already. Free agency just started. Given our cap situation, we all knew we wouldn't b active until the market settled. It's highly likely that our 2013 starting rt is not on our roster right now. So far, we've signed 2 tackles to backup money. More moves are coming. Some of you need o Stop being whitney little b****es and exercise some f***ing patience.

Sure but, conventional thinking is that the "backup" money used to sign Pashos, Trueblood, Kehl, and Golston could've landed a true starter without injury bugs and/or baggage. Money is tight; so tight that the money being spent now should be used to sign the rookies. That's why I think more roster cuts and contract renegotiating are looming. |

You foolishly believe that resigning those players comes at the expense of signing a "starter." Your "conventional thinking" is nothing more than your own uninformed assumption. The skins can still free up about 14MM in restructures. You criticized the guys we resigned but they're all essentially making the vet minimums. We have to have 53 men on the team, and only 22 of them are starters. so far, were filling the 31 backup positions. When the market settles, we will sign a few good, quality players to reasonable contracts. We won't overspend, like the cards did on Lorenzo Alexander. They gave 3MM a year to a special teamer. That's stupid. The first few days of free agency, almost every team OVERpays for certain players. Right now, the market is literally flooded with comparable quality CBs. Why overspend on one now when we can wait a week or two when the market settles, and get one of comparable talent for half the price? |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
I would like to see them pursue Winfield, he would probably be a cheap signing. What's the story with Tanard Jackson, is he a FA or still w/ skins. He will be eligible for reinstatement on August 31, 2013

basically he's still on the team and I'm pretty sure he doesn't count towards our cap. I noticed that Jammal Brown was cut with no news of it occuring. Interesting. |

He is still with Redskins. He signed one year deal with us last year but since he was suspended, thus his contract moved to next year. But I don't know when he would be eligible to play. If I remember right, someone said that he won't be able to participate any kind of activity with Redskins until Sept. |

I pulled the reinstatement info from Wikipedia, so September sounds right. So if we get Talib, Jackson, we could be rolling the dice. They better keep their act clean, I still would like Winfield. Meriweather/Jackson for safeties Talib/Wilson/Crawford/Minnifield for CB (Winfield if no Talib) On paper it looks like a nice, then there's reality. It just might happen. |

"The skins can still free up about 14MM in restructures", sounds like an assumption to me. If you're so informed, why didn't you warn the Skins FO of pushing contract money into the uncapped year? They "foolishly believed" they would get away with that and now look at this mess. This appears to be more desperation than strategy. If what you say is true the newly signed backups could've/should've been had when "the market settles,... for half the price". No? |

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
My guess is he (T Jax) will be released when he is reinstated.
I think there is a rule against releasing a player while on suspension. I could be wrong, but considering he wasn't on the team for very long leads me to believe it to be true. He is a player who cannot be counted on and goes against the character of 99% of the players on the squad. Also I have a feeling bringing in a guy like Talib is another problem waiting to happen, he is always in trouble. Why spend the coin on a player that is a huge risk when there are others out there who don't bring all the baggage. |
Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013
Could Talib be Shanahan's Washington version of Maurice Clarett in Denver? I hope not.

Twitter keeps blowing up w/ skins fans saying we're getting Davis back AND Talib. I'd be very surprised.
But I would honestly prefer that we hadn't signed Pashos, Trueblood, Golston, (Talib) and had just spent that money on Eric Winston so we could end the whole "Who's going to be our RT to protect RG3" talk. |

I'm "informed" by looking on th cap figures on this site and what's widely been reported by various media outlets and cap experts here. You should do some research and exercise patience. Tomorrow well possibly have a new starting cb and before the draft well have a starting RT. Chill |
