Browner and the other asshole (Sherman) are UFAs next year I believe.

@BurgundyBlog: Not good. RT @seankjensen: Antoine Winfield is expected to visit the Seahawks early next week.

Bet they talk shit about FedEx.... (I know he played there in '12 & '11)

Wonder if it would scare away FAs. If RG III can attract them then FedEx could send em running.

At this point, I can't imagine Winfield is still desperately needed. Do me a favor Winfield and go for the money elsewhere. Why string this thing out any longer? I'm looking forward to the draft.

Re: Official Redskins Free Agency Thread 2013 Part II

We've seen time and again that putting a high priced FA into a different system may bite you in the a$$. I had a feeling that CB's were different, because cover skills should translate to different systems -> but Nnamdi is a recent example where it can backfire.

However, it is enticing to see a secondary that includes: Winfield, Wilson, Hall, Biggers, with a healthy Merriweather and sober Jackson backing them up. Then a couple of draft picks and vets.. There'd still be big issues, but last year we scored 27 ppg (#4) and gave up 24ppg (#22) -- any defensive improvement from last year could keep us contenders for the playoffs and a lucky streak would get us into the SuperBowl.

I'd hate to see Winfield go to Seattle. If they keep their team together, it looks like we're going to have to go through them for the next decade to get to the SuperBowl.

A healthy Griffin and we win that game 38-21 or something. Seattle can be beaten.

Seattle doesn't scare me.

Besides Seattle is going to have to go through us I they want to make a Superbowl. The NFC goes through SF for the time being.

If we have to play Seattle every year to get to the Super Bowl...I'll take that. In fact I relish the thought.
Same here. I would enjoy us destroying the Seahawks every year.
We certainly owe them. They've beaten us the last three times we've met in the playoffs.

If we beat them once on the way to a Superbowl win, I'd consider us even. They got no rings after beating us.

Again, Eric Winston is on the market at a reasonable price and we don't make an effort to grab him... Honestly, what did he do to Kyle?

I think we have about 600k left in salary cap.

It's not a difficult fix in the least. It requires a restructure or two

He wants 3-4M a year. I guess we don't think that's reasonable. Apparently several other teams agree.

We've restructured all the people we basically can. Also, some of these contracts you don't want to restructure because you have no intention of that player being around in the years to come. Shanny has already said he didn't want to get into the practice of screwing the future by pushing money into the future.

Since we're only $30,000 under the cap, obviously some sort of moves will need to be made.

Stand corrected. We are only 30k under the cap, not $600k.

Indeed we will.

I agree. Its not just that we're cash-strapped. Other teams that actually have tons of cap room arent willing to spend that much on him either.

The Redskins are left with six contracts that they can restructure that can create some significant cap savings—Williams, Pierre Garçon, Barry Cofield, Stephen Bowen, Chris Chester, and Will Mont.

A lot of the teams that have a ton of cap room are cheap and dont really sign anyone.

Well after beginning of the offseason, I don't think we can call Dolphins cheap anymore. They brought Winston in for a visit and didn't even extend an offer before he left. I used to want Winston too because of his history with Kyle in Houston, until now. Redskins obviously don't want him, then why should we?

Plus they could give new deals to Wilson and Orakpo to free up more room. They definitely have some options.

Wilsons new deal would need to involve him leaving the team. Orakpo needs to stay healthy and prove himself. Right now, he thinks he's an elite talent and there's no way we could justify extend him as such. Besides, he's only scheduled to make 5MM this year. I cant fathom any extension that would result in a lower cap number.

I was just tossing out possibilities, not saying I'm in favor of either.

Rak's number is $5M, it would be easy to drop that down quite a bit with a new deal.

Shanny and BA are super smart to avoid committing to any of these cats further into the future IMO. Tough sitz though to be sure.

I'd love to see the whole team rally together as an F U to Mara, the Giants and the league lol.

Yes sir. Stephen Ross is happy to open the checkbook in a way reminiscent of a young Dan Snyder. If the Fins won't give Winston a big payday, likely no one will.

I thought I read in one of the threads he was on the books for around 2.9 mil or was that Kerrigan?

I agree. I'm all for signing Winfield if possible, but not by cutting a CB from an already weak position. That's like cutting off your nose to spite your face.
