I hope I'm wrong but I thought Polumbus was freaking terrible and see no reason for that to change only get worse.....
RG3 may need to keep that knee brace and may add a few more...... |

Absolutely. I am not sure if I would even want him for that. It was just a note. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
One things for certain, the skins MO isn't using free agency to sell season tickets anymore.

Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
I think this is why penn didn't sign with us
@AlbertBreer: Donald Penn will get the first crack at playing LT for Raiders but nothing's set in stone. Gives Oakland flexibility with the 5th pick, too. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
I like how all the Redskins reporters are now stating that Penn was not or very little upgrade over Polumbus after he signs with Oakland.
Towing the company line boys?
Point is he might not have been a big upgrade especially with a position switch, pretty fair point and basically what they were saying all along. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
We would have been fools to pay Penn left tackle money, if that is what he got from Oakland.
McKinnie would be a fine one-year rental if the price is right. |

Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
Yeah, not gonna lie I wanted Penn as bad as anybody in here. But now rationally thinking it was smart not to break the bank for him. 30 year old lineman the Bucs thought they could replace even after there season? Makes sense to play it cool and let him go.
The raiders have made plenty of terrible moves in the past, let's see how this one goes... |

I really thought that a solid RT was our biggest need this off season. I understand that the secondary was terrible last year and we had no real consistent pressure from the D line. If RG3 does not have time or the confidence to stand back there and throw the ball, then his confidence will go to nothing and he will revert to taking off and running. We have got a lot invested in him, we need a solid oline around him. |

ATTN: Jay Gruden - You need to draft a shit hot OG in the 2nd round.

except if Benjamin is still on the board. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
Looking at our depth chart on the defense is depressing outside of D-Line. ILB, Safety and Corner either has no depth or talent. In the case of Safety, it has neither.
WR, TE and Oline still a concern as well. If the Oline cant protect this year, dont count on development of our QB or his health. |

Yeah, it lacks talent in both spots. I dont see Sharpton as a starter. I like Amerson and we will see if he is talented to start outside. Cant expect to draft 3-4 starters right away. And the talk of going WR first in a deep WR draft is flat out retarded with the holes at both Safety spots, ILB, and especially Oline. Im really confused about our Oline approach. Folks our number #1 asset is RG3, if we dont protect him, we set the franchise back another 5 years minimum. Its like we forgot he had major knee surgery. Polumbus, Chester and Monty cannot pass block. Kory L wasnt great either last year. We better get that straight before the season. |

Seems like Allen and co. are well aware the line needs help. That's why the signed Lauvao and were pursuing Penn. Can't fill all of our needs in one offseason. And it's far from over too. |

But since it is a deep draft, we also could get a first-round talent in the second round. Wouldn't you want RGIII throwing to a WR with first-round talent? |

Its not like the Buccs killed it on offense last year. I wouldn't consider him elite. |

The simple truth. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
We cant fill all the holes, but you have to be able to see the big picture and fill the most important ones. Jay throws the ball more than Kyle. Being able to pass protect should be of the highest importance especially with a QB coming off a major knee injury.

Don't hold your breath on that one. That position has been addressed 4 times over the past 4 years (Hurt, LeRibeus, Gettis, Lavaou) and Chester is still on the roster. Our starter will come from that grouping. May see one as early as the 4th but I don't think this is a priority. With the Jordan signing, same thing at ILB. Been addressed with the signing of Jordan and Sharption, re-signing of Riley and Robinson on the roster. Can't see a pick of Borland or Skov. Based on our approach to free agency (which I am about 65-35 in favor of at this point) I'm thinking we either trade into the 1st round for one of the safeties, draft a WR at 34 or trade back to try to get additional picks. I don't think a RT will be a value at 34, we should be able to get someone in the 3rd at that position. |

True. But we also HAVE to give him weapons, especially with Reed's dicey health. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
If I had to guess right now this could change 3 TE's & 2 QB's on final 53.

Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
We should have went after Quintin Demps. Giants got him that sucks.
I just saw a report Incognito still hopeful to play next year. I still say sign that guy. |

There is no doubt in my mind that we need an upgrade at RT this season. I think we might need to go for a rental right now and then explore ways to fix the problem on a long-term basis. I would definitely like to see the Skins go after Tyson Clabo or Eric Winston on a short-term deal. |
True. But we also HAVE to give him weapons, especially with Reed's dicey health.
We saw what Griff did a couple years ago with limited weaponry. I think keeping him upright is higher on the priority list than surrounding him with weapons. Reed i think we shutdown because the season was obviously over. Not that the concussion wasnt serious, but it was a high risk, low reward situation to play him at that point. Im not ready to call his health "dicey" yet. Ideally we address the oline and a wr. Im not as concerned about safety so much. We have Thomas, Rambo, and Gumbs and with the addition of Hatcher im interested to see how they play with a pass rush. BW is back and who knows maybe he can stay healthy. |

Yes, an emotionally disturbed, unsocialized player who has no self-control or common sense is exactly what our locker room needs. |

Couldnt agree more with Griff being the number one priority. We could have 4 probowl wr's and who gives a shit if Griff is hurt again. Edit: we gave up alot in the draft to get him but God forbid we spend a second round pick to protect him. Makes no sense. I dont care what wr is available - take the best rg, c, rt available. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
Just worried about the direction and execution of our FO.
17 million to a no-name guard who struggled last year, but satisfied with Polumbus at RT? Moving Kory L to center makes the most sense of our Oline moves so far. Very questionable moves which doesnt show enough improvement in pass blocking. Just something to watch |

I don't think Gruden's going to be throwing it 40 times a game unless we're behind. We're not that type of offense right now. Our strength running the ball. I do agree that the line should be a priority and I think we get a starting caliber RT in the draft. |
