I assume that Dan Snyder is working right now on a comprehensive marketing campaign to roll out a new team name complete with new uniforms, lots and lots of cool new gear for fans to purchase, etc. Once this is ready to roll out, he'll announce that he has had a change of heart and the name will be changed. He instantly becomes a good guy who is in the spotlight and in a perfect position to roll out all the good money-making stuff. He'll take the lemons and make lemonade, as he should. Ultimately, the team name will be changed but the resolution of this issue will not make us a moral people or contribute much to the welfare of Native American tribes. In the end, the primary change in all of this will be that Dan Snyder will get richer. That's how our system works. |

As it is now, the money/attention-seeking Native Americans, vote-seeking politicians, and the other people that are adding their voices to the mix(perhaps in an attempt to make themselves feel better about their own racism?) are having no effect on Snyder and I love it. Also, I don't think it's a guarantee that a new name, color scheme, and logo would equal dollars for Snyder. A huge change like that would alienate/upset a lot of fans. Many would likely begin rooting for another team. |

First of all, he has no idea whether the Twitter campaign was a success or failure; it certainy lifted out the fact that there are a number of Native Americans that love the team. As far as the other things Snyder has done, Reid brings out a few of the bad ones, but naturally leaves out the good ones. You know, little things like increasing the franchise revenue from $100 million in 1999 to $381 million in 2012. Players like Trent, Garcon, Hall, Fletcher, Moss, and #21, just to name a few, all came here under Snyder's watch. And sure, there've been some bad drafts in the past, like every team has had, but the drafts recently have been great. The 2012 class could very well be one of the best the Redskins have ever had, the 2013 class has a ton of potential if Reed and Thomas stay healthy, and the 2014 class looks pretty darn good too. Listen, Reid, didn't your momma teach you that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all? Just leave a**hole. Go write for Cowboys Home |

All I see is that he regurgitated some of the old team mishaps and somehow connected them to the team name situation. In terms of the team itself, I don't remember the last time our team had a core of young talented players like they do now. Aside from the McNabb blunder, I don't remember seeing any outlandish free agency moves since Vinny was f*cking things up here. And I can't believe how someone can defend the NFL's actions against the Redskins after the uncapped year. The sports writers at the post have become so irrelevant in providing news about the Redskins and this article is another proof. |

Nope. That would be Trent Williams or Robert Griffin lll. We won the division in 2012 without Orakpo, but it wouldn't have happened without Trent or RG. Don't agree with Schein here. Also, Sherman on that list is a joke. If he had left in FA, Seattle's defense would still be among the best. And I'm surprised Tom Brady wasn't mentioned; NE would be crap without him, especially last year. |

In fairness, they were only talking about defensive players. Given the state of our defense, not sure anyone is "indispensable" but Rak is probably the closest to an indispensable defensive player we have. |

I would've probably said DHall since he takes the opponents best WR. The defense played it's best in a while when Rak wasn't on the field ( in 2012) and poorly in 2013, so to me he's not indispensable at all. I want to seE Rak be a difference maker, get a sack to close out a game, get some strip sack fumbles. In other words, make more plays, like Rob Jackson did in 2012. |

I don't think finding Fletcher's replacement is going to be hard, considering he was awful last year. He hasn't covered a TE in 3 years. Looking forward to seeing some new blood at that position. |
Re: Paintrain's all encompassing 'discuss all things offseason' thread (Version 2.0)
I think we will see much improved play at ILB and Safety this year from the defense. Fletcher struggled immensely as did Rambo and oft-injuried Merriweather. Its all about key guys staying healthy.
Word around OTAs, Keenan Robinson and Phillip Thomas looked really good, stood out. I know its early, but wouldnt surprise me to see both excell in camp and get a chance to start. |
Great to hear. Especially about Thomas. What a bonus it would be if this guy stays healthy and contributes the way i think he can.

Yeah, I agree with this. Orakpo's the best defensive player we have, but not the most indispensable. That would be DeAngelo Hall. If Orakpo had walked, we'd still have Kerrigan, Murphy, Jackson, and Jenkins at OLB; not exactly bare at that spot. But if DeAngelo were gone, who covers the #1's? 2nd year pro Amerson? Porter? Hall's loss would be devastating. Edit: That being said, Orakpo is also important to the D. Definitely worth the money he's getting. |

Yea and if there is money involved I don't see Snyder caring as much as he seems to care now about the name. Snyder really likes his money. I would be opposed to anyone giving Snyder money to build a new stadium, especially either state or city. |

1. Yes. It would be great. It would almost be like getting extra draft picks this year since they would be getting on the field for the first time. 2. I remember the exact same things being said about Jenkins in his second year after coming back from a rookie injury. Once they went live, he has never been better than "meh". I hope Thomas and Robinson bring it in the regular season. Count me amongst the uber-skeptical on these two. Thomas is one year removed from playing and Robinson two - and that's from the college level. The shock and speed of the September pro game in full pads is incomparable to Spring's shorts and tees. I will believe it when I see it. |
