Gruden is under contract so until someone says otherwise he’s the coach.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I get it, but when Gruden is saying he hasn't tasked to the owner and isn't sure about his own status it's bad.

That was the Monday presser.

Two days later, still no clarity is worse.

Some of this is on Gruden if you ask me. Most HC interviews even after a bad season where they are still under contract for future years do not talk in "what ifs" for next year. Perhaps is tired of answering questions about the/for the FO to which he does not have answers?

It's pretty unfathomable that Snyder would go vacation in the Bahamas before having his year-end exit interview with Gruden. Way to leave Gruden hanging in the wind. It just reinforces the notion Snyder has no plan.

Here’s a question. Has anyone heard anything from Cooley since season end? Any analysis, any comments?

Cooley is just another talking head. I think the team basically told him to keep quiet

Re: Time to clean house 1.0.

Jerry brewer was on sheehans show yesterday and they wouldn’t name the person, but we’re both aware that the team is working really hard at bringing in someone to replace Bruce as president of football ops. It’s a “big name” that they (Bruce and dan) are extremely excited about, but the fans probably won’t be. This person will be the new face of the football operations and hailed as a savior; however Bruce will still lurking around and pulling the strings.

Cooley has been consulting with Dan and Bruce. You don’t trash the team when you’re angling for a job in football ops (Longshot at this point).

Also, Cooley is a lot more than a talking head. Hes a very good student of the game and talent evaluator. Go back and listen to his film breakdowns of guys in the draft last year.

Cooley doesn't deserve to hold any major position in the org...his position better be limited and minor.

Don’t expect to be sold on whoever it is. Bruce will still be the puppet master.

When Jerry said the reason everything is silent now was because the team was working on bringing this guy in, whom dan/Bruce were excited about, Kevin said he knew who he was talking about and by his tone of voice, he was underwhelmed.

They later discussed how they tried to do something similar with bringing in scot before but then Bruce got jealous that Scot was praised as the white knight so Bruce got rid of him. I would not be shocked if the same thing happens again with whatever puppet they bring in this time.

I’m not optimistic. Seems like the FO is repeating its same mistakes over and over. Unless Bruce is out of the building, nothing will change.

this org is rotting from the inside do to incompetence.
Agree. Cooley has been critical and blunt about the coaches and players.

He has never openly criticised Dan and had been very veiled in anything that could be construed as criticism toward Bruce. His code word for Bruce is talking about the FO generically.

With respect to Dan, his go to answer is this wasn't a great move by the FO but Dan wants to win.

He always couches it in shots taken at the FO, never at Dan and Bruce directly.

bruce allen has been here long enough to be judged by his record. he needs to go. gruden is in the same boat. and after the second giants game, i cant believe anyone wants him back. if the skins are going to draft a QB, thats another reason to fire gruden. get the new coach in place, so the rookie isnt consistently learning a new system

I don’t think Cooley wants to coach. I think he wants a front office job. When the broncos, 49ers, and now raiders have hired talking heads with no front office experience as actual GMs, it’s not unreasonable to think Cooley could get a job as a director of college scouting or something somewhere.

Not sure why people expect Cooley to be critical of Dan Snyder. Snyder is his boss essentially. You won't find too many people that are publicly critical of their boss, regardless if it's the truth or not. Now if Cooley were employed by The FAN, then he very well might be.

I think I know where you're coming from with this comment, IIRC he said he wanted a FO job when he was with Kevin on the radio... but IMO he was kinda joking and saying he wanted the job that pays more.

But listen to his last podcast episode, where he plays HC and evaluates what worked and didn't worked this season, and tell me this man wouldn't LOVE to coach:

Sheehans been preaching that strategy this week. If nothing else, it would give us something to get excited about.

Compared to the current mess, i long for the good ole days of staying up all night on the eve of free agency tracking redskins one and hoping it was on its way to pick up the big name marquee guys like Albert Haynes worth.
